You have to admire Nam. He entered the tournament not out of pride or greed,but to help his people.
Roshi is paired with Kuririn and Nam with Goku in the semis.
I remember as kid watching Dragon Ball, I really felt for Nam cause he had such noble intentions for the well-being of his family and people.
When it came to the fight between Goku and Nam, it was difficult on who you wanted to win. Nam really needed the prize money and yet you still wanted Goku to give it his all. The really put me in a corner as a kid.
"It's like when you're tired but you can't sleep" He's talking about temptation. Goku probably didn't get it either lol.

I learned today that Dragonball nearly ended with Oolong's wish. For a moment, think about what Dragonball was up to that point: just the goofy antics of a group of people hunting for dragonballs, and among them was a ridiculously strong naive kid. It wasn't picking up many readers, and the editor suggested that it might be time to hang it up; after all, once they've found the dragonballs, that ends the story, right?
But it occurred to Toriyama to give Goku a motivation: "I want to get strong!" A simple motivation, but it drove EVERYTHING from that point on. It also meant that Goku was always bumping into people stronger than him, so that he'd have new obstacles to overcome, which became the defining feature of all the sagas.
So hilarious 😂 I died. Couldn’t fault Madison’s reaction towards ranfan. Classic toriyama at the time 😂

Giren (the dinosaur, not to be confused with Jirin) is lucky it was Goku not Gohan during Piccolo’s training. Gohan ended up eating the whole dinosaur Piccolo sicced on him as a training partner

The Ranfan fight sort of reminds me of the Caway and Master Roshi fight in Super. Both use their charms to seduce their opponents.
The mind reading thing always throws me for a loop. Kind of like when Goku did it to Krillin in the Frieza Saga.
It’s something Masters just know. Korin/Karin and Kami know it too. So, it’s something you eventually learn. I don’t know when Goku would’ve learned it.
