Bro, after getting license assisted from a driving school. I Just bought a used 2014 Skoda Superb L&K (AMT) as my first car. I'm a beginner driver, yesterday na scotter la enaku munadi ponna old couples-ah hit panitaen. Fault is purely mine, but it was a snail paced stop & go Kinda traffic. So luckily, avanga kela velugala and my car got slightly dented on the front bumper and scratched on the front left fender.
I'm devastated after this incident. Nala vela, it was a bumper to bumper traffic kinda speed, but imagine the same situation on high to moderate speeds!! Plus, also the cost of this dent repair estimated by a Skoda mechanic is around 35,000 rupees. (Skoda, only insists on getting the bumper and fenders replaced which costs around 90,000 but mechanic suggested otherwise to get it dent repaired on body shops or totally ignore the damage.)
Now, family suggests me to get a used Maruti 800 which should cost around 50,000 rupees and get familiar with our traffic scenario with it. But my question remains, 800 oru romba china car. I don't have a problem of controlling the car (Superb) of any sorts, I Just have trouble with it's shear size and view point judgment. 800 oturanala, intha judgment skills epudi Supeb ku transalate agum? Isn't Superb thrice as larger than the 800? Illa judgment skills seamless ah translate aaguma? This is quite frustrating for me, as I can't handle the Superb on tight traffic and on narrow streets, it's just too long and following traffic is getting frustrated on narrow streets and they keep honking if I try to go little bit faster, I hit something or someone which is costing me in lakhs. I feel like, I should quit driving altogether.
No brother just forget the incident at this moment the only matter upto now I have understood about you is that you are getting panic about the bonnet judgement and the management of the gap between the car to the subject. I'll suggest you to drive in a casual way without having that fear in the mind just drive the car by keeping ample amount of space for the safety first then further after experiencing this you will start to drive in a calm and composed manner as other driver and further carry overing this you will be turning a pro. Sure brother, I think you've answered my dilemma exactly. I always want to leave a comfortable space between the vehicle in front of me but doing so I get lots of honking from the cars who are behind me as well as motorcycles trying to cross in the gap by going across.
