One of the things I find most intriguing about Ichibei is his mastery of the name. He possesses the ability to change the names of things, which can have profound consequences for their existence. For example, he can turn an opponent into a completely different object, or even erase them from existence altogether.
Ichibei is also a very powerful fighter. He is able to manipulate the very fabric of reality, and he can summon powerful creatures to aid him in battle. His fighting style is unpredictable and often humorous, but it is also incredibly effective.
Despite his immense power and knowledge, Ichibei remains a mysterious figure. He is often cryptic in his speech, and he rarely reveals his true motives. This adds to his mystique and makes him all the more intriguing.
I am very curious to see what Ichibei's role will be in the anime. I hope that we will learn more about his past and his connection to the Soul King. I am also hoping that we will see him unleash his full power in battle.
My favorite Ichibei moment is when he first appears in the story. He is confronted by a group of powerful Quincy, and he effortlessly defeats them with his mastery of the name. This scene perfectly demonstrates his immense power and his ability to control the battlefield.
And, Ichibei Hyosube is a complex and fascinating character who adds a great deal to the Bleach universe. I am looking forward to seeing more of him in the future.

How do we know Ichibei's naming abilities aren't some sort of psychological attack on the mind? It's not that he's erasing names from existence, but just makes the target forget names, or forget how strong they are. A pure attack that attacks the target's brain. Remember that Yhwach was covered in Ink and called "Black Ant", but everyone else still called him by his name. No one else forget Yhwach's name. Ichibei didn't erase names from all of existence.

Ichibei has a cool ability, but I don't think he's the strongest in battle. All of Ichibei's abilities revolve around sealing enemy abilities, and they have a cool down.

Perhaps healing kido helps nullify the aging process. Considering how old man Yama always refuses healing, it would make sense, while other captains and squad members are consistently healed from battles. Perhaps Unohana, being the squad 4 captain, uses healing kido to minimize her aging.

I absolutely love Ichibe as a character. He feels like he’s beyond the bleach story. The fact he’s a primordial being and his power over names and the ability to control all black in the word is truly an ability that puts him beyond regular characters. His role in the verse just makes him so interesting and like a character that knows almost everything concerning the history of the verse. Now in the anime we know he literally had absorbed and used the left arm of the soul king, like that is absolutely insane! Then of course we all know how much his character was developed in CFYOW which only elevated his character for the fans. I know we all like to cal him “evil”, but its not like he’s willing to do anything for the status quo, just like Kisuke and even Kyoruku.

Ichibe is indeed a fascinating and powerful character in the Bleach universe. His immense power and knowledge, combined with his mysterious and enigmatic personality, make him a truly intriguing figure.
Ichibe's mastery over names is one of his most intriguing abilities. The ability to manipulate the very essence of things, to change their names and thus their very nature, is a power that few can comprehend. This ability makes Ichibe a formidable opponent, able to turn even the most powerful enemies into something harmless.
His connection to the Soul King is also a source of great intrigue. As a primordial being, Ichibe has existed since before the Soul King himself, and his knowledge of the universe is vast and deep. This makes him a valuable source of information, and his insights into the Soul King's true nature are invaluable.
Ichibe's role in the Bleach universe is still largely unknown, but it is clear that he plays a pivotal role in the ongoing struggle between good and evil. His motivations are complex and often shrouded in mystery, but there is no doubt that he is a force to be reckoned with.
And, Ichibe is a complex and fascinating character who adds a great deal to the Bleach universe. His immense power and knowledge, combined with his mysterious personality, make him a truly intriguing figure. I am eager to learn more about him and his role in the story as the anime continues.

The books are canon. Kubo worked on them, provided all of the lore, supervised them, and approved them. I'm not sure why Kenpachi getting stronger in six months discredits that.
Also, that's not entirely true. Ichibe did, in fact, defeat Ikomikidomoe, alongside Oh-Etsu, which is also evident by Ikomikidomoe's true name being sealed away. (Though, you are still kind of right, as I'll explain in a second).
However, Kenpachi is still stronger than Ichibē in Bleach: Can't Fear Your Own World for a few different reasons. The first, main one is that Kenpachi is stated to be one of only three people to be able to fight Resurrección Hikone in a one-on-one fight (the other ones being Ichigo and an Aizen who is actually trying to win (Ginjo is also stated to be able to fight Hikone, but it was a "maybe")). The other is that Ikomikidomoe absorbed pieces of the Soul King from Hikone and regained his true name (the fragments broke Ichibē's seal), and Kenpachi felt like he should use his Shikai which he didn't against Hikone (that implies that Ikomikidomoe after absorbing fragments of the Soul King was stronger than Resurrección Hikone, even though Shikai, Eyepatch-less Kenpachi one-shot him).

I feel that Ichibei is more connected to both Ywach and Soul King directly than we know. It's a hunch, but the red hue eyes and black hair is very prominent in the storytelling of Bleach when considering prominent characters which is Ichigo's Mugestsu form, Ichibei Hyosube and Ywach Baha. All three featured the same red hue eyes and black hair, moreso for Ichibei and Ywach.
On top of that, both Ichibei and Ywach seems to have known each other for who knows how long, and as I don't want to make assumptions, but they honestly could be an "extension" of the Soul King. Both Ichibei and Ywach talk about the Soul King "fondly" to put it to words, they have their ideology about Soul King in their own way.
IMO, take the aspect of Ichigo's POV away as that's what Tite Kubo is telling the story from, it seems to me that both Ichibei and Ywach are fighting in a more or less sense of a "family feud" as one can take away from the anime's new scene of the meeting table. In terms of writing and how it's scaled, both the Almighty and Ichimonji are literally 4th wall abilities able to shape anything, something that I would assume the Soul King can and could do, and unfortunately, all of that is the greater evil that is trying to destroy our protagonist's loved ones.
Honestly, if we do get an adaptation of "Spirits are Forever With You" and "Can't Fear Your Own World" I hope Kubo alters and changes and/or adds on to Soul King's past and the origin of the Bleachverse, a very interesting prospect that could shed some light why TYBW arc was important that it HAD to happen on that storytelling arc.

In a way, Ichibe feels like an older brother to Ywach. He would represent the birth of Shinigami while Ywach would represent the birth of Quincy. I feel like this would make sense seeing as how The Soul King is a being that represents all races. It would also explain why Ichibe was willing to let Ywach build his Quincy army as detailed by the anime’s callback to their meeting; letting his younger sibling keep his playthings. It would also explain why their abilities seem so similar, yet operate on different planes and also tie in to why Ichibe was able to use The Soul King’s arm without fear of consequence.

His rose tinted narrative has painted the war as innocently defensive with the King never dying along with Ichigo's role in those final hours erased. Those who know the truth find this repulsive and disingenuous with Yoruichi being the most disgusted. It shows where Soul Society originated and what is then maintained to keep it going.

Ichibei being an extension of Kubo *never* crossed my mind. I honestly like that, regardless if it’s true or not. For some reason, Ichibei’s character never “clicked” with me. Don’t get me wrong, his character’s design and writing is great, but when it came to the Thousand-Year Blood War arc… Yhwach took the well deserved cake. Kubo did a *phenomenal* job, from beginning to end. The Sternritter’s attire, German structure/ranks, abilities, goals, and how they’re written is extremely awesome and perfectly executed. Sternritters were the perfect villains for this arc, Kubo truly did an amazing job at portraying them, they’re definitely going to be difficult to *TOP* once the “Hell arc” is eventually released. Off topic but, I really miss the Soul Society arc. I remember being so invested in the story, and looking forward to Saturday nights for the next episode when it aired on Adult Swim/Toonami. In his fight with Ywach, when his "black" is stolen, his hair turns white, and his last ditch move "steals the black from the target's body until all that remains are bleached white bones". I have an idea that "black" is akin to time, as activating that attack requires stealing nights from Soul Society's future (you could claim it's a literal definition where there will be days where there's no darkness in SS, but given how dire the situation was and his unwillingness to use it except as a last resort, I'm pretty sure he shortened the lifespan of the entire soul society to fuel that attack).

Their powers are opposite as well- Yamamoto is fearsome with a dark side he reluctantly uses only in the most dire circumstances while Ichibe is simple yet truly vile- robbing others of their very being, reducing them to nothing with him being able to assign what he finds suitable for them- a symbol of the Shinigami's inherent corruption.

I wanna say one thing about the shinigami and their look, as far as age goes. I think each shinigami’s physical age has very little to do with actual time and more to do with characterization. Otherwise why would chojiro look younger than Unohana? She basically looked exactly the same 1000 years ago. Meanwhile chojiro looked much younger then, but basically looks late middle aged to old at the current time. Of course shinigami still age a a significantly slower pace than humans. As toshiro still looks like a kid but at the very least we know him to be older than ichigo. Toshiro is always portrayed as someone lacking experience, easily tricked, and at certain points can give into emotions. Traits that are associated with the young or children. Yama is the old wise leader than everybody looks up to. He’s raised everybody in the soul society. He’s the general. His look reflects this. Unohana for a long time was the motherly figure. She healed you and you were scared enough of her even though you never seen her lay a hand on anybody. Until the final arc that is. Now the zero division can be different cuz they probably are eternally young. But I think that’s the best way to look at what age they look like.

It's possible ichibei removed the name sword from yhwach's sword. Not necessarily the sword's specific name. Thats just semantics though. being bleach its certain his sword did have its own name.
Ichibei is based off a bodhidharma the design is super similar to that, beard, beads and all. Senjumaru is also based off a buddhist deity thing with her six arms but i forget which.

22:20 - "In the world of Bleach, Names hold the most power."
No. In the world of bleach, whoever has the most spiritual pressure is the one that has the most power. If you have enough power, then you can cancel out enemy abilities just by flexing your energy.

Ichibei is DEFINITELY the strongest true Shinigami.
As Kenny is likely a Hell Being (reread hell chapter and look at the skeletons at the big gate compared to his Bankai), Ichigo is a hybrid and Aizen is transcendent.

There was a theory going around about Kenpachi. He was born in hell (bankai oni form) when he says he has no name you see a black stroke on the page, hinting at ichibei blacked it out.

I feel like it's more eerie if Ichibe didn't take any part in the mutilation of the Soul King. Like if it is just as he said, the Soul King let it happen, so Ichibe may have sat and watched - totally unaffected in the same weird sociopathic way Ichibe does everything with.

To be honest, I'm of the camp that I *DON'T* want to learn too much more about Osho. Not because it wouldn't be interesting to learn more about the oldest known character aside from the Soul King himself, but because there's some things we are not meant to know.
Just the little bit of curtain that's been peeled back has shown how much of an amoral monster he can be and that he's more an eldritch force of nature than a man. If we get to see everything behind the curtain, it might ruin the mystique and while it might help us completely understand the man, it may very well kill the monster.

It's very scary to think that Zangetsu couldn't tell Ichigo his true name in the beginning because Ichibei had painted over it with black and Ichigo couldn't hear it. Ichibei had crossed out Yhwach's name and so a part of his soul in someone els'es vessel couldn't tell that person his name. Now that is power, and it is terrifying.

How crazy would it be if Ichibei and Yhwach were brothers? In that they were both born of the Soul King. In the manga ichibei and Yhwach even have similar red colored eyes, and I can see resemblance in Ichibei's beard and Yhwach's hair. I can totally see the Soul King "birthing" the shinigami in response to the massive threat of hollows in ancient times. And I can also see Ichibei being the very first one. And after the Soul King is betrayed and torn apart (it took some more time since he was weakened) but he then"birthed" the Quincies in Yhwach in order to combat the new perceived threat of the Soul Reapers.

If you guys like Ichibei, I highly suggest Medaka Box. There's a whole arc near the end about people that use words for their powers. The last boss of the arc is literally a game of shiritori (sorry for the spoiler lol). It's not the same thing as Ichibei exactly, but it's just as creative, and shows what other powers Ichibei could have if he got more creative.

forgive me if this is already explained, im a anime only not manga but im cool with spoilers. but the power Ichibei used asking Ichigo to ress him, aint that the same or similar as Mask De Masculine's power when James would call his name to get up and he could. maybe everyone's powers came from the soul king originally. from all worlds he helped create either way it looks like its gonna be a cool battle with a gruesome ending
Also enjoyed seeing Maki Maki in the show after all these years, was like a where Wally moment lol

It’s not that complicated Unohana chose to use her kido to remain in her prime, so she could give Zaraki a real fight with everything she had instead of naturally declining overtime, and being unable to fulfill the promise of properly handing over the title of Kenpachi to him.

In this second cour they make the girl's (the one with a lot of arms) bankai seem more powerful than Ichibei's. They hype it more, maybe because it's a new addition, but they show the worlds trembling with her bankai something that they dont do with ichimonji. And the way they did his fight with Yhwach it's like they didn't want that fight to be the central one and as I didn't care that much about that I didn't give much thought. But in retrospective I don't know how to feel about that, I feel this guy's power should have been shown as terrifying as it is and not taking from him to hype the girl up.

Remember aizen to ichigo when he used fgt - still can’t feel anything
Just cos he didn’t shake everything doesn’t mean it’s downplayed, ichimonji wouldn’t seem so threatening if it made everything shake and fall apart - it’s how unassuming it is vs how terrible it is which is unnerving

In the fight with Yhwach, even though the Quincy King is a xenophobic killer of his own kind for more power, Ichibe somehow came across as the worse of the two- being patronizing to his enemy, willing to rob him of his identity, and shaping Soul Society to what it is.
