am sure they stole every viewers heart with those innocent coy looks n giggles..i wonder what happened in their life..hope they did not live in hiroshima or nagasaki...
That's EXACTLY what I thought when I saw that scene.
It's time traveler
Ye tbh school uniforms hadn't changed for decades.
@@xavierrodriguez2463 They're Western clothing. Hasn't changed in Western countries in even longer.
Good to see the deer were hassling people on Miyajima almost 100 years ago, too.
nowadays those deers act like the yakuza of animalia kingdom, i saw some deers tried to break in into a restaurant, lmao
It looks like the place was already a tourist trap back then.
I recognize that too and I started going through my old pictures and found I have a picture in the same exact spot in Miyajima.
same here. Last year in Miyajima, a deer tore my paper shopping bag while a young American family recorded it on their camera.
lol
Kizuna 100 years from now you will be famous.
I took a cruise to Japan in 1968 with my family. Not the same as this, but also nothing like today.
I went on a year trip around south east Asia and ended up staying in Japan the longest. I found them very polite and nice people and the place was very pleasant , unlike most parts of the world I have visited.

@as as Japan is a beautiful place because there aren't any people like you :)
This is so crazy, seeing American flags hang in the streets of Japan before World War 2.
Well the Americans make Japan open up their ports for trade, have they not?
@一山田 "White Trashs" and right after being racist you say nothing grows from hatred...
@Japanese Pride Japan has no right to forgive any countries. Japan suddenly bombarded USA Pearl harbor and eventually lose the war. Now USA has forgiven Japan. That is the fact.
War is just a political thing
@Japanese Pride Japan is kind of a slave of USA
04:35 Foreigner feeds deer as exactly same as now.
it's like time travel & footage like these are rare these days.

Technology IS time travel :)
I am very happy to see part of our country before it was destroyed in the war. Thank you to save this video.

The streets were as clean n organized as today’s, what a society!
Hy Vong what
@@sumthintuf3648 Japan keeps the streets very clean. Before and today too. Its very important in japan to keep everything clean and nice.
There are no trashbins or trashcans anywhere except sometimes right next to a vending machine. It is forbidden to throw trash on the streets, you would get bad stares and people might go to you and tell you need to pick it up again. Makes sense, since like tokyo is one of the biggest metropolis. They would sink in trash if they would not keep it clean by the amounts of people. In some parts they are very strict to recycling
Ethnically homogenous countries are the best. Japan, Iceland, Denmark, Norway.. Multiculturalism is awful. It destroys the host culture.
That's what happens when you have an ethnically homogeneous society that maintains traditions. America was like that when it wasn't as diverse.

"A Night in China" is a more English English translation of the title. (The amusing thing here is the use of nowadays derogatory "Shina"="China" instead of "Chuugoku"="Middle Kingdom"="China"). And if you want to sing along, then is the romaji lyrics HERE:
Shina no yoru
Shina no yoru yo

kimi matsu yoi wa Obashima no ame ni
hana mo chiru-chiru beni mo chiru
wakarete mo wasuraryo ka
Shina no yoru
yume no yoru
@@goishikaiganmademou There is nothing derogatory or amusing about the use of "Shina" in the song. This was the name used in those times. Even today, South China Sea and East China Sea are called by this name.
My mom was born and raised in Osaka.
She would've turned 7 when this film was shot.
Her older sister was very pretty when she was young.
She was "Miss Tokyo" when she was 21 (about 2 years after this footage was shot).
I bet Mom would recognize every scene in this video and probably remembered the song heard at the beginning too.
Wish I could've showed this to her before she passed on. I'm sure she would've enjoyed seeing it.

Gee, I don't know. Maybe because Japan was built by people who left China many years ago. Just like Koreas.
thanks for release, your short films.
I love those old walking roads with massive trees along them... they always remind me of those old Samurai movies and makes me feel melancholy, like when I see the little spirit houses along the roads or between some trees or rocks, it's just so magical and familiar. I've always longed for this life at the court in some early period of Japan, like some previous life I had even though I think that I must have hated it! All the pretend and strict rules. Urgh. But it would've been the small things like water streams, trees, birds, ancient temples, statues, poetry, kind spirits and love stories that make me long for it. Sometimes I think that people who adore anime once were Japanese in another lifetime. I do like some anime, but I am most touched by their passion of nature, food, family, honour and beauty. Wonderful Japan.
