Vintage Treasures Await! Scoring Big at This Antique Mall

  • This place is so big, it's my first time and I don't know where to look! Thankfully Jocelyn ‪@CrazyLampLady‬ has a few tips, so we follow her to the showcases, where a lot of beautiful antique and vintage await us!
    The quality goods are in the cases, and we get to peruse Zsolnay porcelain with the shiny green Eosin glaze, Royal Doulton's tremendous jousting pitcher and a lot of nice costume jewelry, including an iridescent Czech necklace we just can't leave behind! A well priced Enid Collins purse, cheap and colorful Hall teapots and an Eickholt studio glass vase we know Jocelyn will find are on our buy list today.
    German nude porcelain dancers, stunning displays of Weller and Rookwood (we are in Fairfield, Ohio after all), an unusually patterned Fenton Burmese jardiniere and an amazing MCM signed multi-colored Lucite centerpiece keep us transfixed in the showcases, and our cart is starting to fill...but we need some real deals! Fortunately, Kate ‪@Followthatbugvintage‬ mentioned there's a newish section with more rows of dealers, so we go to see what bargains may lurk there.
    Vintage costume jewelry, Hall fridge dishes and a concrete seahorse statue all come to us at prices that will let us please our collector customers and still make some money, and we try out a device that has always left me curious! We could sure have fun with this thing...but we're running out of time, so we cover the rest of that wing of this huge mall, and leave the rest for later! (Watch our upcoming videos to see more soon.)

    When my father in law made grand pareurers for Van Clef and Arpels, they were platinum and they came with platinum screwdrivers that you used to put pieces together and take them apart to make different pieces. I saw some with him once - incredible stuff. Love the letter slot. I miss porch delivery. Had it until 6 weeks ago. If it rains, we leave the mail until the next day!

    Good evening, George. Those Royal Nippon vases were fantastic. Was the _Stork and Rushes_ made by L. G. Wright? That is a Dugan pattern. That Laelio glase has a fantastic look. I'd never seen any of it. That was a really nice scale, but it was so over-restored it looked almost plastic. I like the original finishes. I used to put together the plastic model kits, and there were some I wish I still had. That mall would take a couple days to fully explore. Thanks for taking us along!

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  Před měsícem +3

      Hello my friend! I thought they were particularly good too. Stork and Rushes was a classic Dugan pattern! The scale was too good to be true, I find over-restoration annoying personally in the same way that repainting or refinishing old furniture can be a mixed bag. I keep finding older balsa wood models lately, I never even attempted one of those! That mall DID take a few days to explore, I'll show more later and will still have to go back!

    • @CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS
      @CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS Před měsícem +2

      @@TheAntiqueNomad It surprised me when you said the _Stork and Rushes_ pitcher was an L.G. Wright piece. I know they, along with other glassmakers, acquired a lot of the original makers' molds, so I knew it was possible, but I've never seen a reproduction of that pattern, that I knew to be a reproduction. When it comes to refinishing an antique, I'm, for the most part, of the "leave it alone" approach, especially on a metal piece. That scale was so over-restored it bordered on being a ruin. I can understand, in some cases, furniture having to have some work, but restoring is better than refinishing, if at all possible. At one time...when I was much younger...I had model kits such as Jonathon Frid/"Barnabas Collins" and David Selby/"Wolfman", from the _Dark Shadows_ show. I wish I still had those, among several others. I tended to like the monster, ships and aeroplane model kits best. The automobile kits I liked were like the Bugatti Royale, a 1907 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost and a 1931 Duesenberg...I had those, too.

      I tried to remember when I was 1st aware of The Violet Triangle. I was a teen in the late 60s and don't have a memory of that. Then Reagan came and shut everything down in the 80's. Do u think the emblem, if I can refer to it in that way, started to be used in mid 70's. I feel as though the = equal and then the rainbow were a later symbols of pride. Or Were the three symbols in place at the same time ?

    05:46 Czech jewelry without a doubt. I'd have bagged that too for $29. 16:29 I wouldn't have bought the necklace. The nylon string is "wavy", meaning the clear filament has shrunk with age and it'll break if you look at it cross-eyed. Japanese necklace? I'd pay $5 if I wanted the beads, but nothing above that. 16:56 That pattern in the metal is never real gold in my experience. 24:30 It's not easy being green! Sun damage. I bet they used a photographic process, and color prints can discolor.
