  • I created this backing track by mixing together tracks from the following awesome performances:
Isolated Drums by John Kew - • Tool Invincible - John...
Isolated Bass by Leo Düzey - • Invincible (Tool) - (B...
I was originally going to recreate the parts in GarageBand, but this sounded very superior to what I had so far.
I got the idea from Ben Ruegg who mixed the John Kew drum track with EuBasss bass track:
    • Invincible - Tool - Gu...
I thought the bass by Leo Düzey sounded better so I used that bass track instead.

This sounds awesome but you should've put a 7/8 count-bar out with a backing metronome going on for the first minute. This may be hard to follow while playing for someone who's starting to learn its guitar track

I created this backing track mostly to have a completely clean track to play over without count-ins or clicks (so you can play the intro then start the track with a pedal right when you need it to come in). For anyone learning the song for the first time, I would recommend Max Neissl's video with play along tabs: czcams.com/video/6MuGznhJfoo/video.html.
The first minute or so is the trickiest part and requires the most practice, it makes the rest of the song seem easy. The most important realization for me was that while the cymbal at 0:22 is exactly on the downbeat, the cymbal at 0:10 is just before the downbeat and the cymbal at 0:34 is just after the downbeat. So they are good cues to know where you are in that section, but only trust the middle one for judging whether you're correctly on the beat.

There is a version with 7/8 count in the beginning

This is great to play along with. Would love to have the metronome 7/8 intro leading me into what you've put together. The other metronomed backing track is incorrect, maybe you can get it right 😉
