@Soperson Not at all, actually russian is like 4/10 its just filled with kcal. And its made very cheap, i ate Ukrainan, French, Russian, Polish and American MRE. For me the Russian was worst of these.
and just a few months later, anomaly was trying NATO MRE's in a cold hole in Ukraine. Of course, papa is too old for conscription and therefor is sitting in malta enjoying his beer.
now this was a satisfying MRE video from a non-MRE channel, they actually figured out what everything was, actually heated the main courses "semi-properly" and used the products how they were supposed to be used.
I haven't been on this channel for a while, and coming back to this felt really nice! I like how this video was more chill than normally, Papa and Anomaly didn't start beating each other but still made it funny. But of course we needed the ending just to remember what it usually is like. I have to say it was a very good video, I had a fun time watching it. Thank you for this content, have a good day!
i like how you have prepared and checked what everything is and how to eat it. i've seen many other videos where haven't done this little research and that was not so pleasant to see somehow
A cool thing about MRE (at least here in Spain) is that some instruction is given to soldiers so they can get the most out of it. For example, Spanish MRE includes coffee and lots of sugar, and I was told to never use sugar to sweeten coffee since that is a waste of energy sources. Basically we had to drink coffee when feeling tired, just to get that caffeine energy boost, and in case we didn't have any more coffee, we could use all sugar we didn't put into coffee before to get another energy boost thanks to glucose.
The 1st food( or as we call it "Plovas" in Lithuania)is actually a very common food in Lithuania. Theres actually very similar food that we make. It also contains rice and chicken, but on top, we but a mixture of honey, and some other stuff, and its super good.
I remember when I was a child my grand pa would always feed us spam on crackers because that was his favourite military ration when he was in the Canadian military. This somehow feels nostalgic
MRE's in general usually aren't that bad, people only complain about them because they rarely change them and you end up eating thousands of the same meal over the course of a few years. Some of the best MRE's i've experienced were when I was training in Finland, with Swedish tankers. Their MRE's were amazing.
I watch a LOT of youtube… and you are the only one that can make me laugh OUT LOUD, like bro, every video. Favorite youtuber by far, dont stop dumb shit with papa! Love you
Fun Fact: we rarely use the mini fire place for heating up the food. A) We mostly eat in the camp where we get regular food and occasionally, if we’re really hungry, we’ll just bust the gulaš into the microwave and be done with it. 😂 And when we’re out about. We mostly feast on the crackers and the paštika spread. From time to time we set up a full sized camp fire where we heat the MRE on sticks that way you don’t taste the melted plastic 😁
never had I seen Eastern European letters to spell russian words I'm sure most american or even Western European people would have trouble recognizing gulaš as gulash/gulyash and shit
There is a theory, and I think it is true, that sugar is there to increase calories in a cheap way. But when I studied at the cadet school, I really wanted sweets at the field training camp. I honestly don't know why. But it would be better if more chocolate was added to this ration than just sugar. And yes, the ration was sold to you at a very high price.
I did my service in 2017, but not in russia. The set was super good, that heating thing seems kinda awful if you just could use foods that just needs added a bit of boiling water. No crackers, but we had that meatpaste too but with crisp bread. Instant coffee with tea, not that much of sugar and no salt or pepper at all. Energy bars of course and energy sports drink powder, hart sport. Best things of course were dark chocolate bars and honey roasted nutties. Oh, and tuna spread came too and it was super good with the crisp bread. Cant remember the rest but damn i miss those foods. Often hoarded the meals and ate tuna cans, instant porridge or cold market burgers for the meals cost like 8 euros in the shelves.
I'm actually suprised that u guys did almost everything right, good job. Here is little fun fact about why they put so much suggar into their ration. Its about how russian or in mention their soldiers drink it. First they pour sugar into their mouths and after that they drinking bitter coffe or tea. It gives you insane energy to keep you going. You guys actually choose perfect menu in my opinion, as you guys tell nothing was blind or had lack of peper or salt which is very common in Russians mre. That 5 grams of salt or peper never is enough of it. To heat up your main you guys could use just Pan and heat on it expect putting in this in microvave. Overall preety good job for non mre channell.
