Probably the best musical performance I've ever seen on this or any other platform. Priceless. Especially love how the band are dressed as successful resistant forces to American Imperialism.
These are The Pop Group, as it says on the tin. Active from '78 through '81. Morphed into Rip Rig & Panic, Maximum Joy and solo Mark Stewart. Mark is still out there performing, and there is a reformed Pop Group. Suggest Googling, or Facebook.
I saw the gig at plan k..they were like..the clash..more funky..agressive..awesome..and they are back ..cant wait for the belgian gig..get y..if u dont know them..very original..one of the best bands ever
Not exactly, as Peter Hook had similar facial hair. However, I'd like to think that this clip inspired Mike Watt to dress up like Fidel Castro for the back cover photo of the Minutemen's "Three-Way Tie For Last."

Thanks for the upload. We do know The Pop Group was a main influence for Rema-Rema, Mass and The Wolfgang Press. Right? But perhaps this track was more than an influence/inspiration for Wolfgang Press' track "Shut That Door" (last track on the album "Bird Wood Cage", 1988). Hahahahahaha... Sooooo funny...

Yes the presenter is speaking French. This is Belgian TV which is broadcast in French. The two languages of Brussels are French and Flemish. With English a close third. Most main TV is spoken in French, the main language of the capitol city.
Belgian Television has Flemish (Dutch speaking) channels, and Walloon (French speaking) ones . This is from RTBF (Radio, Television Belge Francophone), so the French speaking half.
I don't like this at all , but I can see how it influenced early 80's mainstream in the UK. Orange Juice , Haircut 100 etc. Can anyone tell me what label they where on at the time ?
Jon Jones I don’t get how you think this influenced early80s UK pop when it’s closer to bands like Palais Schaumburg, but it’s easy enough to look up their record label at the time on the internet.

Agreed but they should have let them actually play their instruments instead of making them mime 🤮
This is from the show Generation 80, host to some of the best bands from the early 80s, plenty here on CZcams.
1/2 of the greatest split single of all time. Flip being The Slits "In the Beginning There Was Rhythm". Bruce Smith drumming on both tracks.
