Hiking in South Tyrol through the Rastenbach Gorge on Lake Caldaro (4k, 2018)

- The hike starts at the parking lot of the Freibad and goes to St. Josef am See and then up to the entrance of the gorge. There through the forest and over many sky ladders to the waterfalls and the observation deck with the fantastic view over the valley to Lake Kaltern. Then through the upper biotope along the Rastenbach to the parking lot on the road to Altenburg. From there to the second observation deck with a wonderful view to the lake and to the Leuchtenburg, as well as the Dolomites. The way back led through the Bärental with several vantage points back into the valley to Sp14. There, left to the large parking lot and continue to the starting point. The hardships of the steep climb in the gorge were rewarded several times by the fantastic views of Lake Kaltern, the Dolomites and the whole valley.
Einfach genial Horst! Die Rastenbachklamm ist eine der schönsten Alpenschluchten und du hast es super rübergebracht! War schön noch einmal mitzugehen. Als wir letztes Jahr dort waren, roch es beim Wasserfall zu Beginn der Himmelsleiter noch nach verbranntem Wald, aber vermutlich hat sich das wieder gelegt. Viele Grüße Stefan
Hallo Stefan, freut mich, wenn die Bilder schöne Erinnerungen geweckt haben😊 Nach verbrannt roch es nicht, aber es war schon sehr trocken und nicht sehr viel Wasser Ende Juli in der Klamm. Leider konnte ich Deinem Tipp zur St. Peter Ruine zu gehen aus zeitlichen Gründen nicht mehr schaffen😢 Die Gegend ist gut für mehrere Tage und vielleicht klappt es ja im nächsten Jahr 🤔 Viele Grüße Horst

Hallo Hermann, da stimme ich voll zu. Ich war quasi nur auf einem Zwischenstopp dort auf dem Weg nach Süden und war auch begeistert. Überlege schon dort auch mal für einige Tage zu wandern. Viele Grüße Horst
