My 5th grade son is singing in a choir, and has been asking me why sections get to sing alone in some arrangements while others sit (i. e. the sopranos sing while the altos sit out, and vice versa). I used the Ramones "Blitzkrieg Bop" as an example of layering (the last part of the intro is shout vocals and drums, with bass added, and then guitar czcams.com/video/f0lcans7l5I/video.html). This will have to be another example for him!
