In my opinion, the thing is just that Subterranean Animism is the Touhou game with the best music of them all, and that says a lot, since ALL Touhou games have a great soundtrack.

Nuclear Fusion is an amazing final boss theme, but the problem is that it's soooooo difficult to cover its very specific melodic progression and song structure as well as properly implementing its requisite power and majesty. It's amazing when it works, but it usually doesn't, kind of like fusion itself, actually.
