  • This is a 0 to 100 in my 2013 ford f150 with the 5.0. It's a 4x4 lariat super crew. The use was a 87 tow/performance tune. The gear ratio is 3.55 for anyone who wants to know.

    I have an sct tuner and I got custom tunes from Mike at five star tuning. I also deleted the muffler and added a glass pack.

    8 seconds doesn't seem that quick for a tuned f150. Are you hauling anything?

      mister jim I agree my 14 f150 5.0 is faster stock. I clocked it at 7 seconds.

      is your truck the exact same thing as far as cab, drivetrain and gear ratio?

    What tuner did you use and is the tune all you added? I have the same truck and am looking to do the same.

      I used the sct x3. Its the programmer i had left over from my 09 f150. I tunes are custom made by mike at five star and i also have exhaust done on mine from a local shop around my house.

    why the bad fuel mileage an did u let off at 100 or the truck cut off at that?

    What does changing the gear ratio do? I have 31 tires right now.

    • @Worm976
      @Worm976 Před 7 lety

      gears make up for lost power when changing tire sizes. they are also determined by what the trucks towing capacity is needed for. going up in ratio helps low end power, but hurts economy. unless you have large tires, then it will help in both. and vice versa

    hi i just bought a new f150 with the 5.0l and i was wanting to get this tuner to change the transmission shift points. they just seem a little sloppy stock to me. anyway just wanted to know if this tuner helps a lot to get a firmer shift. also is it worth the $500. what gains have you noticed with the 87 performance/tow tune. better mpgs, shift better under normal driving conditons, better throttle response, towing aspect. let me know thanks

      Well i got mine tuned by mike at 5 star. He does firm up the shifts points a lot and increases line pressure. But not to much to cause long term damage to the transmission. This tuner has almost eliminated the drive by wire lag that a stock truck would have. I got my tuner from mike for my old 2009 F150 with the 5.4 in it. I have trusted his tunes for years now and have not had any problems. When you first load the tunes if that is what you want to do the transmission will shift extremely hard until the adaptive transmission learns how you drive with the new tune. I will also tell you that when you first drive it don't drive like a grandpa there has to be some full throttle runs in there to give it different variables for your driving style. I drove it like i stole it for a week and it shirts great now. I have always run the 87 performance/tow. i have seen a lot more power in the whole power band. I have towed a little bit with mine and she does great. as far as mpgs go there is a increase in mileage but for me it went down because i could not keep my dawm foot out of it lol. But under normal drivings its great. I have since upgraded my tire size and tire weight and it feels no different than stock. I had to readjust my tire size in the tuner. If i were you i would get the livewire one. Also stage 3 sells them and there is a power train warranty that they sell with the tuner just in case something happens and ford wont cover the bill. I would have gotten one but i could not afford it. Stage 3 also has packages that you can get from them a a nice price. There website is www.stage3motorsports.com. I hope that i have answer all your questions. If you have more just feel free to give me a shout back.
      Thanks ,
      Nickel

      Larry Moreau hey thanks a lot for the info Nickel. my biggest concern and reason for getting this tuner was the hard shift when its cold. so its just normal for the transmission to do that. i just need to drive it hard for it to shift better? anyway im sold on getting the tuner. just got to save up some money for it. truck only has 3000 miles on it lol. ive already put a roush exhaust on it (sounds amazing btw), and some kicker speakers. id also like to put a throttle body on it, oil separator and a cai. do your know anything about the oil separator kit, it seems like a good idea but not 100% sure about it.

      Larry Moreau Your welcome no problem. If you truck is still at stock right now i would get the adaptive transmission tables reset till you get the tuner in.When people test drive the trucks at the dealer they drive the piss out of them to see what they will do. So in that case that is all that the transmission can use to determine the shirts points. I put the tuner on mine when i had 1100 miles on her. If you watch my exhaust video you can see my set up. I like the roush but for me it was out of my price range. Those are nice speakers. I have a set of rear subs for sale as well lol. They fit a 09 to 14 super crew> They fit right under the seat. You would see minimal gains from a throttle bey unless you got a new intake to take advantage of all the new incoming air. On the cold air kit they look nice and get the truck a mean sound threw the power band But the stock air box actually flows more with a stock filter plus it keep intake temps down as well. I am on the fence about the oil separators to. I know that people with the Ecoboost say that they are really worth it. Its because they are direct injected i am going to get a set around Christmas from stage 3 motors sports. The brand will be JLT for both sides. I think They are like a 120 per side to do. I like them because they retain factory style connections do that there will not be a leak.

      nickelwork87 Definitely look into the RX catch cans if you plan on getting one. They seem to remove a lot more contaminants than the small cans like the JLT.

      +Isaac Barrera I used the tuner and got the stargety code from the pcm with the tuner and then emailed to the tuner.
