      Is there another way to shoot in sunlight rather than to use the ND filter or is it a must?
      I live in Rio, Brazil and the sun here is very intense. This is why I always use an ND filter when shooting outside using my Sony a6400.
      I ask this because I don't know if I can find the exact product you are promoting in Brazil
      Best regards,

    ND filters are a must have in any digital devices. I have one inexpensive variable that clamps on my iPhone 8. The result was horrible. It took less than a day to find it totally useless. Cheap variables make a dark cross over the image. The lesson is buy cheap, buy twice.
    Then I decided to begin to use my Lumix bridge camera. I got a really nice wide angle lens filter from Ulanzi. At the same time I bought a 52 mm variable ND from K&F. The filter is great but it is wider on the top and without top threads. I was not able to put it behind my wide angle lens.
    I had to return it. I bought a set of 52 mm ND filters ( that are top threaded ) and really looking forward to having control over light.
    I really enjoy your channel. Everybody must remember, “ Buy Cheap-Buy twice.”
    Thank you for your great posts.

    To viewers with a phone older than the the iPhone 12, please note: I have this setup for the iPhone 11 Pro.... which, as shown by this great vlog, the functionality is great. My frustration comes to the fact that they have changed the case for the iPhone 12 so that I now also have to re-buy the lenses as the mount type has changed. I do not mind buying a new case for each new phone model, as it is IMO expected, but I do find it frustrating that I now will need to replace the ND filter and the Polarising filter that i currently own; they are not cheap. For this reason, I will opt for another brand. Setting aside this aspect, I loved this vlog... informative as always.

    I have been greatly enjoying your videos and can't imagine how much work goes into them. I am just starting out in the mobile video world, actually in the video world in general, and have just pre-ordered the iPhone 13 pro max version of this kit. I ordered it because I'm mostly a "still" photographer, and really like the grip and trigger concept, but I'm also looking forward to making some videos with it, as soon as I get my head around how you videographers see the world. 🙂 Thanks again!

    It's true, the moment Anamorphic lens gets slightly tangled ( something that could be tested priorly by PolarPro...). To solve it, unscrew the tiny screw on the moment lens, adjust it in order to have the lens aligned with the phone, and screw it again. The mount will be tangled but the lens correctly aligned!!!

      @EndelJ Před 3 lety

      @@SiHorrocks I think the screw is meant to sit in a notch for alignment. When adjusted manually as the tip describes, the screw is not in the notch, and the torque of mounting/removing the lens moves my lens out of alignment every time. The case and grip is too cool to give up on, so I'm going to try and mod it a bit.

    Very cool video, I did some filming of some mountain biking last week and had to keep my shutter speed in the 1/400th range which I didn't like. So I designed and 3d printed a clip on mount for my note 20 to use a 67mm variable Nd. Now I can get the shutter speed down in the range i want, excited to try it out this weekend.

    To be able to use a stronger variable ND, get the moondog labs "Multi camera filter mount V2" which is 52mm (and with an adapter to 52 to 67mm), and it will cover all the Iphone 12 Pro or Pro Max Lens. that way you'll be able to use your 52 or 67mm filters, applied to all three lens...with your lightChaser Pro!

    I use the Lightchaser case with the Moment anamorphic lens. The application of the anamorphic lens is tight at first however I was able to use the lens like normal after using a bit of force while turning the lens into place the first time. Thanks again for this awesome tutorial! I just received my iPhone 13 Pro Max Filmmaking Kit and am trying out the VND. I noticed that it doesn't lock into the case. It slides into place ok, but is able to fall out of it's slots fairly easy with a simple little shake or two. Isn't it suppose to lock into the slots somewhat? I'm really concerned more so, due to just receiving my Crane M3 gimbal. As always, thank you for all of your content! 👍

      I think the design for the Iphone 13 version is a little different to the iPhone 12 version. I'm afraid I haven't tried the new version. But I haven't had this issue with the version I have. Thanks for watching!

Impossible with the case I have, the slots are flush on the sides therefore, it can't be rotated. I'll contact PolarPro first thing Monday morning. Thanks again, appreciate your help. 👍

      love my iPhone 12 pro max but if youre talking about the flares then yes, they're horrible. cant believe apple let that go. really REALLY ugly flares. only way to get rid of them is to use an anamorphic filter (just makes the dots less ugly) or use a "patch" from your comp/editor if it has it.

    Ok so if I'm understanding correctly set the iso as low as possible and adjust the shutter speed or should it be the other way around? Doing mostly outdoor talking head bits with limited motion but I don't want a blown out sky either, I mainly have been leaving the iso at around 100 and the shutter at 1/60 (30fps) but the footage has a weird texture in almost like noise. I'm using the iPhone se (2020), filmic pro, front cam (this maybe the issue), and the Neewer variable ND 2-400 clip on, I will try the front cam on a day when we have some sun and see if that helps.

    • @flipnap2112
      @flipnap2112 Před 3 lety

      using filmic pro, go into the settings for "resolution" and make sure youre using 'Filmic extreme' which is the bit depth. bigger files but less color banding. and lowest ISO will always give you less noise. ISO at 100 with that shutter speed shouldn't be giving you that much noise, especially in a well lit environment. You shouldn't need an ND filter in low light, and outside shouldn't use a problem at those settings. I would double check you codec in the resolution settings first

      @SiHorrocks  Před 3 lety

      try to avoid the VND that covers the whole range 2-400 kinda thing, because they do weird things when turned up to higher numbers. That's why many VNDs come in smaller ranges like 6-9 stop

    • @chrisjohnston964
      @chrisjohnston964 Před 3 lety +1

      After looking around at various "clamp on" systems, the LightChaser Pro kit is looking more and more appealing. Unfortunately, they currently only offer a 2-5 stop VND filter for the iPhone 12 pro kit. They announced the LightChaser Pro for iPhone 13 pro is coming out soon. I wonder if they'll release a 6-9 stop VND filter for it? Another option is to go with a regular circular VND filter and some sort of adapter/case setup. I found some suggestions on Richard Lackey's site: www.richardlackey.com/nd-filters-for-iphone-video/. What setup do you currently use out in the field to get 6-9 stops?

With 5 of the app's the bluetooth module doesnt work at all and with the other two sometime the bluetooth module triggers the volume button instead of the shutter. a CPL filter will remove glare and therefore colors can appear richer. An ND filter will reduce shutter speed if you are filming in daylight and want smoother looking video
