- In an interview for the FRONTLINE documentary “Pelosi’s Power,” Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi offers her own perspective on her decades in Congress and shares details about key legislative battles.
“I said, 'Well, we have an opportunity of a generation,'" she tells FRONTLINE. "We’re not going to let anything stand in our way to pass the Affordable Care Act. If there is a big fence blocking us, we will push open the gate. If that doesn’t work, we’ll climb the fence. If that doesn’t work, we’ll pole-vault in.’”
Pelosi was first elected as a U.S. representative (D-Calif.) in 1987. She served as speaker of the House from 2007 until 2011 and resumed the role again in 2019.
The following interview was conducted by FRONTLINE’s Jim Gilmore on Dec. 6, 2021. It has been edited for clarity and length.

Pelosi never denied any requests for the National Guard, nor has that power to begin with. That power lies with the Capitol Police Board.
Furthermore, Trump never requested any National Guard members to be present on January 6th, even while he was aware of the situation on the ground.
There’s a lot of things wrong with Pelosi and her corruption, but this is not one of them. I say this as conservative that it’s important to accept when our own side has gone astray, and attempting to whitewash or deny what really happened on that day creates a dangerous and false alternate reality that could further harm this country.

In 2 short years there has been nothing magnificent or visionary about any of their doings unless corruption and corrosion of our country is the vision that this woman seems to be so proud of. This is not a show of intelligence nor class but of a sick narcissistic woman who has always shown that she is truly unhinged. They seem to not believe in truth and police what truth is in order to manipulate the people thus furthering their twisted agenda. Speaking with zero class of a prior president is not ok especially while contradicting herself by blaming this person and that person for how difficult it is to be female in politics and oh poor me how I was treated yet she displays the same behavior towards people she dislikes, has had public meltdowns for so many years that she really cannot be taken seriously. I do think some need to go. However, if one really serves the best she/he can, then it's a benefit. I also think a junior politician can become either seasoned or jaded as they spend more time in office. (That's our job to determine when we vote).

I may not watch the Frontline show. I like hearing the full interviews instead. Who wants to depend on someone else’s edits?
Does PBS FRONTLINE sign any warranty that they did not edit the interview? Or, could anyone prove one way or the other?
@@lexneuron Each interview is about 30 minutes long. They interview multiple people for any given 60-minute FRONTLINE piece. So of course they edit together small pieces of the interviews into the final show. This is how documentaries are made. If they played all of the interviews end-to-end the FRONTLINE piece would be six hours long.
I like watching both, although for the last couple of episodes I watched the full interviews first which kinda ruined the film for me. I am going to watch a bit of this video interview, then try not to watch the rest til after I see the episode.

I absolutely love Nancy Pelosi. Especially how she calls out the interviewer. She is brilliant, tough, and certainly one of the best representative we ever had in CA. She is my representative. All you insider-trader people. Look, it’s this simple. If you invested in Apple, Intel or Microsoft, any tech company in the 80’s which many people in San Francisco did in the 1980’s. You are a multi millionaire today. My grandparents who owned a small business did exactly that. They also invested in Amazon & visa. Any generic portfolio today will reap those benefits. It’s not rocket science.
The video of people screaming “Nancy, Nancy we are coming for you” seems to be taken out of an horror movie. Unfortunately it was all real and it is a call for serious reflection. In a personal level it made me recall what happened to my mother in Cuba when she announced she was taking me out of that country in the eighties. The problem of these regulatory agencies we have in virtually every State, is that they are unaccounted to the Congress. The Congress has delegated their power to them. Corrections and remediations are needed!

Pelosi and her husband aren't actually genius traders, they just did what any sane trader did - buy the dip, pile into tech, consumer goods, and shipping. It was common sense back in early 2020 - the government & Fed were obviously going to bail out the markets. Their performance matches plenty of other hedge funds, and likewise suffered during the recent dip.
