having used both i'm praying that CZcams improves the chat/moderation side of things quickly, it's the main feature that's really lagging behind Twitch right now
@@HatchetMan302 Channel Points and stuff too! No sub badges and bit badges are there either?
@@samurogamer i think youtube is trying more of a professional side to streaming without all this "unprofessional cruft" like bits and big number of badges or custom emotes
Harris hands down has the best streaming guide vids on CZcams
@@illestvillain1971 Why? The advice Devin Nash gives is better imo. What is wrong about that?
I have 23 followers on Twitch and 31 subscribers on CZcams.
A career-defining decision is at hand.
My huge problem with CZcams, which became a dealbreaker for me, is that, as it was mentioned, livestreams are undiscoverable. If you're a streamer *only,* then it would make sense to switch to CZcams if you have an audience already because people will search for *you* specifically. But if you have no one to search for your channel, nobody is gonna see your stream on CZcams. However, on Twitch people can directly dive into a category they're interested in, and they can stumble upon you easier than here.
@@NintendoCade arguments? I mean, that doesn't necessarily mean that absolutely no one can become a streamer on CZcams from 0 subs, but, e.g., I'm a viewer. How am I supposed to search for livestreams of Far Cry, if there are no categories or filters on CZcams? Almost no one is going to "live" tab just for the sake of scrolling random streams - we, as viewers, search for something according to our interests atm. Not to mention that, like on Twitch, the streams on top of the page are always the most "popular" ones.
@@aleatar i agree. As a viewer im interested in food streams, and its impossible to discover streamers in this category on youtube for me. Unless im already subbed to them. There is no way to filter them out, its heavily focused on gamingstreams and they only show a handful of streams for browsing at the time. Realisticly there are prob more food streamers on youtube than twitch, its just impossible for me to find them through livestreaming.
@@ASpoonfulofNorway exactly, that's my point. As a viewer, I won't sit all day searching and searching for livestreams I like, I'll just go to Twitch. And as a streamer, I usually hope to find mutuals who share my interests and all, and that interest is what exactly I'm streaming atm. That's how you find your "own" audience. And only after you establish your own audience people will search for you because of YOU, and not only because of your interests.
Streamer Valkyrae would be the great example.
Agreed. CZcams needs to update their UI and focus more on live streaming. They don't even have a tab for live streaming. It's all a jumbled mess. Until CZcams finds a away to clearly define what's live content versus what's recorded content. Discoverability on CZcams is still hard because you're still gambling on the algorithm to shine its light on you.
We streamed our live games on Twitch for a while and uploaded different content on YT. The YT channel started to grow slowly over time. We had the talk that we didn’t like having to split the content between two platforms due to Twitch only being a Live stream platform. We moved completely to YT with all of our content, and although we don’t stream as much our turnouts have been better on YT. For us it was one of the best decisions we made a creators back in January.
The guy who made me the streamer I am today. AlphaGaming Family❤️
I made the decision back in January to fully move here, didn't do it just yet (haven't been streaming either), been finishing my studies. Now that I watched this video I feel good about it. Thanks again!
As someone who is launching a stream next month, this is the most relevant video I have seen on the topic. Thanks, Harris. Rock on man.
Thank you for this video, this really helped me a lot since I have never even considered looking at CZcams live streaming more. Now thinking about it with this new perspective, it actually makes me feel more comfortable with the idea of trying to stream on youtube, since I genuinely enjoy making a variety of videos and content.
I can’t wait for CZcams clips to be available for everyone
I think there are some great points in this, I recently moved from splitting my time between youtube and twitch streaming, to only streaming on twitch. I found that though my numbers were significantly larger on youtube vs twitch, there was huge difference in the community. Twitches user experience is so much more welcoming and interactive whereas youtube's felt colder, at time's it felt like people were discovering a livestream for the first time, when visiting my youtube streams.
Another big difference from a business point of view was that despite having several hundred average views more on youtube, the earnings were on par or much less than on twitch and I don't think that's necessarily due to the monetization options that were available. People were less likely to donate (on youtube), but when they did, more often than not, they donated considerably more.
I hope that in the future youtube makes livestream both more searchable, but also their lives more user friendly, when that happens, I'll happily return.
I mainly stuggle with all those features, that twitch has like donation notifications, or making something appear on screen when someone subscribes or whatever.
Streamelements is kinda broken right now
Super excited for more CZcams content!!! Also that squad wipe at the end?!?!? Lets go Harris!!!😁
In my recent searches I’ve came across your videos many times, and for the ones that I’ve watched, all of my questions have been answered. Keep up the good work and content
Thank you. For making my panels mean nothing. *slowly walks into tomato town*
Love the “channel gets discovered” humility. Respect
I haven’t been this early for a video in forever. Lol. I hope everything works out for you man. Much love for all the help you have provided and will provide in the future. Great video 🙏🏻
I have literally been searching for info to make a decision on this exact subject all morning! Thank you! 😁
Personally I’ve made the decision to stream to both platforms separately depending on which timezone. Having such a small audience and doing this full time allows me to experiment on CZcams, whilst I focus on Twitch. That way it covers both bases!
I could never imagine myself leaving Twitch until other services offer a similar community vibe and features. Sub perks, channel points, integrations, emotes, raids, hosts, etc... I couldn't imagine streaming without any of those.
Same! That's the only reason I don't want to leave twitch. I did stream for a bit on CZcams, but I hated the interaction with chat, so I moved to Twitch. I had way more viewers on youtube, but I just can't stand the youtube chat, no channel points, no emotes etc.
@@AnisSecondChannel i think youtube is trying a more professional streaming then twitch so they are are trying to do without cruft like channel points custom emotes and such, and truth be told i dont see why they are necessary to me youtube feels a lot better but yes if you are just streaming gaming those are cool but if you are streaming other things those just seem unprofessional
@@bigpod I mostly stream just chatting and just dance, so I interact with my viewers a lot. I love that my chat can dance with me with different dancing emotes using betterTTV. I also find it easier to read the twitch chat because of the different colored names and bigger space between messages. CZcams chat is just a wall of grey.... I will probably move to CZcams in the future, but not until they've fixed the interaction with the viewers :) (also this is not my main channel)
@@AnisSecondChannel i tend to write code and chat with viewers(those 3 that i have)
He's too rich tho 10 20 k a month to just give up 😂 bet your twitch subs feel special
Great! Thank you for sharing! I built my gear for Streaming from all your recommendations
Great video! Thank you - it helps a lot. I am too small on YT but my concept works on Twitch right now ... and I love the community!
Very beautiful Thumbnail Sam
I started Twitch streaming because I had a lot of friends who were also doing it, and I've met more friends on there since. Switching to CZcams would just feel empty. There's gonna have to be another huge change in either companies for me to move as of now.
I appreciate the breakdown of Pro's and Con's of both platforms. We started a music channel a little over a year ago now on Twitch and have these conversations all the time about where we should be streaming to.
Thank you SO much for this comparison video!
Currently only stream on CZcams, I love the fact that everything I put out is on 1 platform so all my current viewers are involved. If I would move over to Twitch I think not all my CZcams subscribers will move along with me and that scares me to make the jump...
Yeah dude it's easier having your videos and livestreams in one place. I been having a blast streaming on CZcams these past couple months. I think it's easier to grow on CZcams than twitch there's so many people on twitch it's hard to get found by people sometimes I think
For a DJ streamer like myself youtube isn't a very good o option. I switched to twitch only about a year ago because youtube kept killing the stream.
But Twitch also has on stream DMCA. You can't avoid really avoid it without big risks of a proper performance license.
SUPER Helpful!! Thank you so much :)
I like making 3 forms of content. Having fun growing snd meeting née people here on CZcams. Great video 👍
Would love a video breaking down how and why I should stream on main channel or second channel.
I'm personally going to stream on main channel, i think it has more benefits than cons. Since it will help the youtube algorithm
I'd like a video on how to transition from Twitch to CZcams as seamlessly as possible.
I'd say make a second channel. Nick Nimmin said on one of his livestreams that they always lose subscribers when they do livestreams
I don’t know how to pinpoint it, but Harris you look a lot like you’ve slept well lately. Glad you’re doing well
His eyes do look more lively, maybe he has been contemplating it for awhile. He may be successful but losing that much revenue in a move like this is stressful for sure.
thanks for your content, it helps a lot man
I can see why you made the move and it makes sense and I greatly appreciate the insight.
For now I believe my best move is to continue to stream on Twitch while I work on growing my CZcams channel since it has only just started. That said I might end up making the same move in a year or two's time depending on how CZcams and Twitch change and what happens overall with my CZcams channel.
I love that you swapped from twitch to youtube, I don't watch on twitch but I like watching you now on youtube! :D
I'm surprised you never brought up one of the biggest cons of CZcamsrs streaming on Twitch: CZcams doesn't like it when you send people to their competitors website (no social media does). I wish we could know what extent this affects the algorithm but there is no doubt that CZcams wants people to stay on their platform and if you promote your Twitch too much this can have a negative effect on your channel.
I'm not saying this isn't true, but do you have any real documentation or proof of this or is this just conjecture? I'd like to see something to actually back this up. Facebook definitely suppresses your outgoing links and outside content, in favor of boosts and paid advertising, but I don't know that to be true or documented for CZcams.
I thought Sam addressed this and said that he doesn't think it affects your numbers
Alpha def helped me make my decision to stay on youtube. I jus hope I don't get discouraged. I'm gona keep pushing forward
Great video thanks so much for doing this type of thing. Just put up my first "edited" video after a couple months of streaming and I'm realizing I have a lot to learn. I've been considering starting a twitch channel and after watching I feel like I should be on CZcams
NO WAY THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED
I think the reason I'm afraid to leave twitch is twitch prime and watching ads for bits. That way some viewers (especially a young teen audience) can support a streamer they enjoy watching without having to spend the little amount of money they have
This helped a lot! I was thinking of jumping over (whilst I'm still small on twitch and its 'easier' for me to start over), but the last bit I think helped me decide that Twitch at least for now is the place for me. I tried the YT content creation about a year ago (alongside twitch) and I just lost the fire for it, but loved streaming.
But before your switch I'd been wondering if it would be right for me, so this has helped me a lot! Thank you! :)
You always have good points and good insight
What I wanna know is if you should stream on your main channel or make one just for streaming.
I'm 100% streaming on my main channel, i honestly think the youtube algorithm likes we use their features
A full video on this would be nice and it's probably coming. He has mentioned on the youtube live stream that it's best to unlist the stream after it's finished because it will affect your numbers negatively. Most people just watch small portions of the entire stream and the algorithm currently doesn't like that.
So calm and collective yet a genuine warm felt intro.....GG.
Thank you so much for your content it has given me alot of insight on how to proceed with my channel
Harris: Twitch is dying and they need to do something about it.
2019: Twitch vs CZcams vs Facebook vs Mixer
2020: Twitch vs CZcams vs Facebook
2021 Twitch vs CZcams
2022: Twitch
Haven't decided yet, but since I started a CZcams channel my views on Twitch suddenly increased by a lot. It shows that growing on Twitch on it's own is just... the hardest. Thanks for all the advice always, and good luck on your new adventure! :)
Been very curious to hear your comments on this! Hope you'll do a follow up on this later - commenting before I've watched here so you may address this. Thanks for the videos!
Been following your journey for about a year or so now and I must say you give some of the most honest, clear-cut advise I've heard from someone in the industry. I'm excited to see the impact you'll make here on CZcams! I am really interested to see how CZcams will innovate the streaming/gaming industry. What are your thoughts on streaming across multiple platforms?
Almost no one goes to youtube and think "which livestream should I watch today?"
really wish youtube would allow all streamers the ability to clip things instead of just partnered streamers
That and monetizing again, I switched to twitch 2 months ago 37 followers with little to no marketing, feel like I'll get 50 in a month. CZcams 188 subs in 5 years
thank you for sharing your UPS and DOWNS in this career. love you bro
I appreciate your input and thought process for all of this. Ive been grinding on twitch and it's not enjoyable. With CZcams it's enjoyable that my content works while I'm sleeping!
It's far easier for me to grow on CZcams than twitch!
Jokes on you if you think CZcams actually notifies people when videos are posted by their subscribers 😂
Actually they do, check your junk inbox. My partner follows my YT account and gets an email every time I stream
I’ve been streaming one day on CZcams and one on twitch recently. I’ve noticed getting viewers from CZcams to go to twitch (using my long/short form content) is VERY low, but my current CZcams community enjoy coming out to a livestream on CZcams. What’s been nice as well is having someone who has clearly just watched a video jump into my live stream as it’s on the channel and talk about it, or even refer to a video listed on my channel, have them watch it and jump back in stream without having to leave CZcams. The potential is massive and a few more weeks of feeling things out and a move might happen
I have been streaming crafting content in Makers and Crafting over on Twitch but it just really feels futile and that there is a ceiling since there aren't many viewers in that category overall. I'm going to try out CZcams streaming and posting tutorial videos and see what happens!!
1 dislike? THIS MAN IS A LEGEND
Definitely Twitch.
CZcams now gives you strikes for advertising your twitch channel, and I dont think anyone should support scummy practices like that.
You say this but I still see it happen a lot and also the main news articles stating this are from 2018
@@Aci_yt that only you. 1 person. A ton of other ytbers advertise there twitch and don’t get strike
@@Aci_yt not for this. Did you just have a video that was like "now live on twitch"? That's always been against the rules
Great video thanks for doing this. Do you have any thoughts regarding how quickly CZcams will possibly improve their live streaming platform? I agree that it looks very clunky but seems like it has been that way for years.
Going to start streaming and making CZcams content because of you. Big Inspiration!!
Lol I found you via rabbit hole and you’ve been the most helpful person with live stream content
Bro!!!! I've started watching you a few weeks ago..... Still lots I gotta watch ..... And yesterday was my first stream on twitch ... You are going to be my spirit guide through this journey 🙏
Im on CZcams, creating videos surrounding my Livestreams on CZcams. It is tough to get discovered or started I should say but I'm learning all of this. It's tough but I enjoy the growth that is coming from this. I'm Glad you are here now! I look forward to jumping in your stream! I hope you can talk to CZcams on trying to build a streaming community here!
Thanks for making this Harris, you convinced me going back to youtube for livestream, thanks man!
Finallyyyyy been waiting for this video!
Congrats on the move and glad it’s working out for you! 😁 I will be staying on Twitch for now. I tried streaming on CZcams but I dont get the same views and chat interaction that I have on Twitch. I get up to 20-40 viewers and can get up to 70 viewers at times. When I tried CZcams streaming, it’s too quite despite of having 1k+ subs, only 1 or 2 would join the streams. There was only a time where I played Valorant beta and got up to 300+ viewers but that never happened again.
Most of my following on social media comes from Twitch/streaming and not the other way around as you mentioned. What I’ll be doing is I’ll continue to stream on Twitch and put some highlights/funny moments on my CZcams channel since my yt channel is already monetized. I’ll just have to figure out my niche and organize the content better. 😅 Thank you for all the helpful tips!
I'm planning on making How to Do Voiceovers On Garageband on CZcams. There are so few about just VO and more about music. So I use your guides to work out things and skills to learn. Cheers!
Hey! I love your videos. When streaming on CZcams, is the saved stream high quality? I know on twitch typically its recommended to record also to make videos since their saved streams are bad quality. Id switch right to youtube if i didnt need to record anymore. Thanks
I’ve been working on my YT channel for the last month and I’m happy here, streaming, nerdy vlogs and tech reviews, shorts all in one place 🤓
Great video, I hope this move works out well for you. I've been watching your videos for a couple months now, even checked the back catalogue of Halo 5 videos, as I so happen to be creating Halo 5 content myself but mostly from a more educational/competitive perspective and I'm trying to setup myself up to hit the ground running once Infinite drops in November. I think I'm going to stick with CZcams for curated videos + Twitch for live streams as that's where the Halo competitive viewer base is right now (very small right now - I'm at 444 followers, 6 twitch subs, but still) so will likely start increasing once it drops and because of the platform-specific features clips, platform-wide emotes, sub badges etc. Also, your videos are great and very useful, so please keep them coming haha.
Great video as usual, thanks for the insights
I respect the decision and I have a question, I’m really new to streaming and I wondered do you have to keep setting up your stream e.f re editing face cam into overlay or can you just save that set up
That’s a great video. I have been thinking lately to what I am going to do. I have already an CZcams channel, but I decided that I want to do some live-streaming too ( gaming) and then continue more in the entertaining area. It’s hard to make a choice, but I am willing to go for CZcams, since you also mentioned that on CZcams it’s a variety of content that can be posted and yeah…it makes sense.
I do have a question though: at this moment, I already have posted some videos about some topics I no longer intend to talk about ( productivity, time management, etc), what do you suggest it’s best: to make a completely new channel or to just continue with another type of content and leave the videos behind? Or some other thing?
@alphagaming, what about DJs? long term where is the right place to mix? Thanks for the usual amazing content
Amazing Video Harris thank you for the Clarification ❤
Thank you! Just signed up for skillshare to help improve my videos
Can you make a video what keywords you should really use for different niche content like walkthroughs. Tips and trick. Etc?
There are no videos explaining everything that goes into and what you need to do and expect if you make the switch from twitch to CZcams or visa versa. That would be super helpful!
I started this summer on CZcams & I am super happy about my decision!
Brazil fan Harris! Thanks for one more wonderfull vídeo!
You’ve earned me as a fan after I heard you say this. ”nobody looks at the panels on twitch” I’ve never heard anyone say to a streamer big or small. Nice twitch panels.
Harris, THANK YOU so much for what you do for us! Amazing brother - we appreciate you!
as a music producer ; integrating all content onto CZcams or several channels for more niche content. Super helpful video all around though, thanks Harris!
Hello sir, Thanks for your great videos
I have a question, please
Should I write my CZcams video title in my native language if my content is in my native language?
Hello harris, I have an issue with youtube live streaming where I stream at the same bitrate as twitch, but for some reason it looks abysmal compared to the acceptable quality of my twitch stream. Is this a bug or something or is that just how youtube compresses streams?
Any way to get the links to also have like CZcams links or something for the music? Don't use spotify here =]
Was thinking of doing Collab irl streams with friends. When lockdown ends. Hate being stuck behind a screen playing games it's so done
Great video! I've given up on growing on twitch. I've really buckled down on making content on CZcams with high quality videos, seeing growth from that. However I'm also restreaming. Makes more sense to me to expose myself on as many platforms as possible since I'm small and just starting out. For me it's about exposure first, just getting noticed.
I know a lot of people will say it splits an audience, it doesn't. Everyone's chat is merged into 1 so no matter what platform you like, my stream will be on there. I've had people have discussions from twitch to YT viewers. Works great
Would a review of the Logitech G Pro X Wireless be possible?
I've been trying to figure out which headset would best 3d audio with the right software.
Interesting and enlightening information. I have been deciding to try out CZcams for a while now. I'm not exactly aiming to make this a job or career, but I do find making videos and streaming fascinating. After listening to your words, I think I will start jumping over to CZcams. I spend most of my time here anyway and I am sure CZcams as a business will try to catch up to Twitch in the future.
What do you think about multi platform streaming? Love the content!
How did you do the PowerPoint-styled animations of text over your video? Is that from the editing software?
Hey Harris, now that you stream on CZcams, do you have any advice on how to get chat to work? Like yk how streamlabs has a widget for chat? That doesn’t work for me on yt. Any alternatives?
Yay, does this mean we get more educational videos on CZcams streaming now?
I've always consumed a lot of content here on CZcams than on Twitch so I'm not as familiar with the Twitch culture and have a better understanding of what a YT viewer feels (I think). This video makes me think I made the right choice. Thank you! I just started streaming a few weeks ago thanks to your videos!
I’m about to start my career into streaming but also short clips and possibly other content. So what you said is in line with my thinking. For me, most likely gonna go with CZcams. I would say though the defining decision between the two aside from the flexibility for visibility is the monetization and the community. CZcams has that ability to be flexible and get your content out there and get seen, but making it get monetized is much harder; whereas you have a community on twitch that is on there for the obvious reason, to watch people play games; however, it’s lost on me due to the research I’ve done where getting visibility is just as hard if not harder for someone who is about to start.
my one question is which platform do you suggest for new strreamers?
You made a decision, yet, or are you still thinking?
definitley still thinking
Chose twitch
CZcams suck twitch better
Still team youtube all the way👍
Just Twitch. If I get big I'll migrate to CZcams
