It is a "Zournas'..! A Greek Pondian music instrument, from the Greek people of "Pondus" which is now part of Turkey. Also it is a instrument used in the Middle East.
It was Greek in Byzantine Empire and they tried independence after the Balkan wars. It wasn't easy to retake Turkey in 3 years with no help from noone. Pontiac Greeks realized Pontus was not in the direct plans of Eleutherios Venizelos, so an independent Pontus would be easy to annex with Greece later. Same we thought with Cyprus.
