***** Yep. Personally I think their sound really benefits from being a two-piece band. They're 1000 times tighter and still just as ear-meltingly awesome!
Nobody knows morse code. Except WWII fighter pilots and radio brigadier sent out to the salt flats to flip tangerines into ovaltine and swoon old Widow Marylou and seduce her with the hedging of her prized pear tree
@@robinhelix4813 the band was cut in half, everything became so inanimate thanks to the pre-recordings and all the noise and punkiness is gone ... now they are smooth and transparent like glass
It is weird not to have Rika on bass. They sing and play guitar overtop bass and drum recordings since 2013. But the bass is a strong element on most songs. Its simply not the same without Rika on bass. She was a key to the bands great sound.
@@davejones5745 It's a shame they got rid of her. They are one of my favourite bands, but they don't sound as good now... it kind of seems disloyal of them to sack the rhythm section.
I feel that, but I find the music sounds more unique without the rhythm section, it's more abstract and textural. It sort of reminds me of hyperpop artist like 100 gecs or charli xcx, which their last album predated I think. Can't wait to hear what they do next!
really enjoyed this, thank you! If it's not a secret, what camera/phone did you use? The sound is not the usual mush garbage you get at loud shows. The video quality is excellent too.
Thanks! I've tried quite a few cameras, but this was shot with the Nikon L830, which is good for shows because the lens isn't detachable and it has good quality in low light.
mastuhman ....there is that trade mark Morse code type noise denoting its a point and shoot camera. I have not nailed down what causes the noise but I stay away from them for live shows ever since the sony wx days. sony nex cameras did not have this issues :p
Does anyone know what that thing is that Yasuko is holding in her hand? I just got back from their show in Cologne and I couldn't figure out how it works, no matter how hard my brain tried. I figured it's somehow linked to the samples, but I have absolutely no idea how. Probably even less than no idea.
StingrayMM20 haha Numark Orbit = wireless midi controller - they still make them. when I saw them last month in Miami she was using it to trigger loops in Ableton Live (and still closing w Candy Gun) /
She uses it to manually control the backing tracks. It helps make it feel more interactive and organic. I remember reading in an interview that before doing this, having all the backing tracks made concerts feel like karaoke.
This is an important band.
Yes, it is.
No shit.
Melt Banana Lite was one of my favourite live performances ever. Absolutely blew me away. The noise these two generate is nothing short of incredible.
Bro there are 3 guys actually one guy and two girls (bass

The bassist left the band. Now there's just Yako and Agata.
Waaaaaaaat

I was at this show. It was my first time seeing them live, and I was just speechless it was so good
That "Arigato Gozaimasu" at the start always gives me the chills.
Did anyone catch the morse code at the beginning spelled ‘Melt Banana’?
holy shit is this true
Nobody knows morse code. Except WWII fighter pilots and radio brigadier sent out to the salt flats to flip tangerines into ovaltine and swoon old Widow Marylou and seduce her with the hedging of her prized pear tree
THATS WHAT THAT IS?
The bass player and drummer were fun to watch - but their sound is much tighter as
a two piece . Wish I had known they were i the states !
I saw them around 2007. It was mind blowing. There are no other bands like them.
Gonna see these guys with Melvins and Napalm Death in April. So pumped!!
+Ronan Keeffe Im seeing them tomorrow
+Ronan Keeffe 4/20 in Detroit my body is ready
They only play like 30 min :(
Did Napalm Death perform when you saw them? They didn't when I saw them in Atl. Just curious.
They did. Grrrrriiiinnnndddddddd
I think she is pretty
Tika was a total vixen as well. I miss her on bass.
they rock so hard
How are they not better know in the U.S.? My second favorite alternative band behind Subrosa.
This video made me cry.
Greg Olsen why?

Gonna see them this summer when they tour with Torche. This video got me pumped! I've loved them since high school.
awesome , mind blowing.

mxpmw I completely agree with you.
Me either...
Sad, but I think they had to pare down for financial reasons. Sadly it's very costly to tour nowadays

this was so crazy live!
This is the first touring band I ever saw live when I was 16 at the 40 Watr Club in Athens,GA. Fantomas also played that night

mastuhman thanks for the info! Seems this camera has good audio level control and not that expensive.

+zygomatic Yeah! Props for the good footage. Never get to see my favorite noise rock band these days.
крутяк!!!
This end of this month I will see them in Ramsgate. 120 people piled in. YEAAAAAAAAS.

I saw them yesterday in Brussels and I also was wondering. So today Google helped me to find out that it is a Numark Orbit.
Lots of love to you, Rudi! Thank you very, very much!! :)

what are those two amps? a 2x12 combo jazz chorus and a sunn coliseum lead going through that 4x12?
I need an SG.
"HOLY SHIT" is right
I'm late on the band wagon but this is sick! Delays?
It's like elmo moved to Japan and made a punk record
What is that tablet for?
Triggering drum samples/fills etc.
Where's her straitjacket? Who let her loose?
Melt-Banana Encore! Candy Gun!
czcams.com/video/UobRyLSn9KI/video.html Thanks mastuhman
When I first heard this song I thought it was a man singing with a bizarre accent and voice shifting done in post.
Надзвичайний гурт
any more band like this?
Cellular Chaos
What is she holding during the intro? It glows blue and red?

this guy wearing a mask 7 years before the corona virus
He's from the future
Wow! Have you noticed that face mask? Watching this now almost 8 years later where we all have to use that "thing".
Melt Banana, wearing masks before it was cool
Is it cool?
