As an almost pure EDH player, I've forgotten that Gemstone Caverns is Legendary until it got pointed out. Good games! Rhinos are critically endangered but not in this deck
I feel like I'm the only one who actually _likes_ hearing the players. Particularly in 1v1 - four-player tables can get a bit chaotic, after all, but 1v1 tables aren't like that.
I think it comes down to personal preference. I don't think either is better than the other. It just comes down to what you personally like :)
Uuhh legend rule on the caverns 4:51
Don’t forget the mana he floated during during his draw step after his saga triggers floats out once you go to main phase.
@@stephenchaffin276 saga happens beginning of main1, floating that works fine how he did it
Man, the sadstone carverns got me good.
😂😂😂
Will we ever go back to the old narration or is this the new norm? Haven't watched a game in a while so it caught me off guard when I heard the players.
Ryan is narrating the cEDH games, while the players themselves narrate the 1v1 games.
That game 1 was super sweet
when he sacced arcbound ravager at 7:09 why did he put 9 on the ozolith and then also put 9+2 on his construct, only to then later put the ozolith counters back on the construct? Zabaz had been sacced by that point right?
If your asking why it got +2 counters, thats because hardened scales was on the board. Scales says "creature" so it doesn't stack with Ozolith.
If your asking why he put counters on both the Ozolith and Construct it's because: 122.8. If a triggered ability instructs a player to put one object’s counters on another object and that ability’s trigger condition or effect checks that the object with those counters left the battlefield, the player doesn’t move counters from one object to the other. Rather, the player puts the same number of each kind of counter the first object had onto the second object.
This allowed him to effectively double the counters. With ravagers sacrifice ability and the board state as it was, every artifact sacrificed represented 6 +1/+1 counters on the Shadowspear wielding construct, which would either win the game outright (as it did) or lifelink enough that he wouldn't need to worry about the crackback
Game 1 there are two caverns on play at the same time 😅😅
I’m not sure what the issue with that is.
@@PlayingWithPowerMTG I'm sorry if this has been answered already, but Gemstone Caverns, as a legendary card, would be subject to the Legend rule, stating that if 2 or more copies of a legendary card are controlled by any player, that player must immediately sacrifice enough of them to get down to only one of them in play (doesn't use the stack). So, you could float mana from one Caverns, play the second one while sacrificing the first one, then use the second one for mana, but that's just a one-turn kind of trick. That's also why Zabaz dies automatically if another Zabaz comes into play under the same player's control. Cheers for playing Scales, though! I love that deck! :D
Pauper when?
Pauper ?
Gemstone shouldn't stay it's legendary
yes it should. an effect that strong is way too strong to have multiples in play
@@JoeKell365 G1 he had double gemstones in play
Scales list is inaccurate. List has 1 Gemstone main, but clearly g1 shows 2 main, list does not have Blinkmoth, Karn or Ring.
Mises lethal game 1
As always great editing! It’s a shame that this much work gets put into it when clearly the players aren’t very experienced with the decks. The rhino deck is straightforward but the scales player with SB alone was almost painful to watch. Damping sphere is against tron/titan/storm decks but not good here, best case delays them a turn. Dunno why graffiggers cage didn’t make the cut?? Anyways would love for the deck pilots to actually master their decks.
Scales player here. Thanks for your feedback! Cage didn't make the cut because it literally does nothing against the Cascade mechanic as the cards are cast from exile, not the graveyard or library. Since them I have changed the sideboard of the deck and have better options to bring in against Rhinos and other Cascade decks. Modern is my least played format and I was definitely not playing 100% correct. Anyways, would love for CZcams commenters to RTFC before chirping in the comment sections.
@@discobreaker8442 I think what you wanted to achive was something like Vexing Bauble to counter those Rhinos.
So this is the second time I've noticed you put the sideboarding after game 2. Do you guys always play 4 games or is it best of 5?
Also, the linked decklist is incorrect for hardened scales. Zach was playing mite main and included some number of baby karns.
Best of 5. So if someone wins 3 games, they win.
I miss the old commentary
And I prefer player dialogue. This is also easier for them to produce. If they had to voice over everything too, we would just get fewer videos.
Return the old stile comments, this video was boooring
Hey, genuine question when are we going to go back to having good commentary instead of the players with their awful microphone quality?
