Marella Discovery Balcony Cabin Tour (Tui)

- Join me as I show you around the balcony cabin I had onboard the Marella Discovery (Tui Discovery). We cruised the Baltics in September 2018 and had the most brilliant time. The cabins on Marella Discovery and Marella Discovery 2 are identical so this video will be relevant to both.
The Marella Discovery used to be Splendor of the Seas for Royal Caribbean so you may notice Royal Caribbean-y aspects! Marella used to be called Thomson.
How big is the standard balcony on Marella Discovery?
This was one of the biggest balconies I’ve had in a standard room on a cruise ship. There was enough room for a ‘proper’ table and two chairs. Much bigger than the balconies on ships like Britannia or the Royal Princess. I appreciated the extra space and we spent a lot of time on the balcony watching sail aways.
What is in the Balcony cabins onboard the Marella Discovery?
Twin/Queen beds
A desk with mirror + chair
Another chair
Bedside tables
Tea + Coffee making facilities
Mini bar (no fridge so this is on the desk)
Hairdryer
What I loved:
The cabin was so clean and didn’t look dated at all.
We had a lot of space.
The bed was SO comfortable.
The TV played Disney films!!
What I didn’t love
The balcony cabins don’t have a fridge so the mini bar contents are sat on the side of the table. Not really a problem but I was staring at a dairy milk for two weeks without being able to eat it!! (I’m sure they’d take it away if I asked them
There isn’t really much storage space in terms of drawers, only a few by the chair a little ones by the side of the mirror. It wasn’t a problem for me because I travel really light, I see how some other people might struggle.

Nice video. There are 2 USB chargers above your bed in the lamps I added a 4 plus USB lead to it so could charge lots of things at once. Great ship we where on the D2 in February I have a few videos on my channel

Emma, wow, that is some time since you cruised. having been on the ship twice it is a fine cruise ship as long you dont want flow riders and water sliders. Having seen your MSC video you are somewhat, aka a lot, slimmer than us. What is more the climbing wall could result it ship stability problems if I tried it.
The climbing wall is fine, I did it a few times and had no problems with shop movements
Haha!! I'm sure it wouldn't. I do like fun things like flowrider but realistically you're only going to use them for 5 minutes out of a cruise, more important things about a ship I think.

Derek - I was more bothered about the effect my bulk would have on the ship rather than the other way round. As a friend of mine said I am a lot of space to be a waste of!! My wife said I was out of shape, I replied round is a shape! It isn't true though I could do with losing a stone or so.

That's a cool room. Does that background noise go on all the time?
What like the humming? Yeah just the noise of the ship. No louder than in any other cabin or ship though ☺️🤐
