You can save a creature by fizzling removal with it while also holding up other stuff, you can get etbs from things like spell seeker, and you can double a static ability. It comes up more often in team draft than normal draft because in situations where you open things 2 off color moxen + fable and your an aggressive red deck its actually better to pick the fable instead of taking a mox and hoping your teammate is a good fable deck

      Your line gets a random card and top in hand. His line gets part of a specific card in hand + top in play to spin on upkeep.

    • @bricelory9534
      @bricelory9534 Před 3 měsíci +6

      Great question, my initial thought is that it's a toss-up but with the slight advantage that you can better build around Minsc as a pick 1 over a pick 3 whereas Moxes tend to fit in anywhere.
      So I do think my initial impulse is that the Minsc is a better pick in that situation.

    • @Princeofseance

      LSV spoke on it in a previous video and I believe it is correct to take a strong card that you know is good for your deck instead of taking the mox and giving a conditionally strong card to your teammate.
      A mox is always strong so pass it to your opponent and team mate because then they're at parity and you have a strong card for your strategy

  • @jacobcook3127
    @jacobcook3127 Před 10 dny

    In a team draft, if you open a double mox pack, would it be correct to pass them both and just take the 3rd best card? Both teams are going to end up with a mox, it'd just be your teammate instead of you.
    It may also be the case that the 3rd best card is good for your deck - if you're base red and see a pack with 2 mox and the next best card is fury, you taking the fury guaruntees your teammate down the way gets a mox, which is always playable, whereas if you'd taken the mox they may not be in a position to play the Fury.
    Funnily, if it's valid, this approach repeats itself. Each player is incentivized to take the 3rd best card when they see the double mox pack because they know taking one of the moxen doesn't result in a gain in the quality of your teams' decks vs your opponents, since both will end up with a mox eventually.

      They are very much classic sci-fi in that they are philosophical in nature and also end up playing with ideas in physics. I think they make very intriguing stories, but they aren't character-driven at all. If that sounds interesting to you, then they're worth giving a go. Opening two moxes is breakeven to pass, and you can easily take a different great card and your team will often be better off than taking one of the moxes. Next guy always takes a mox, so it doesn’t matter so much whether it’s first pick or letting your teammate take it third. That’s likely what happened. If you’re playing red and open two mox and next best card is ragavan or leylia, ur better off passing the two moxes to ensure your team gets to play the best 2/3 cards, cause if your teammates taking 3rd pick can’t play red and you take the mox first, the ragavan is wasted.

We, the brushwaggs of Dominaria, absolutely adore your cube content, for sometimes it is literally the last thing our minds resort to in order to not be completely overwhelmed by the turmoil of the events happening (yes, brushwaggs are sapient). If there's only one thing we could ask for, we plead you to stop making the weird-as2 noises when you're thinking through your plays and/or move your mic a little bit further from yourself so that it catches less of those sounds. Sorry to say that, but our big ears are too sensitive to the sounds like "TSH-TSH-TSHHHHHH", all the kinds of tongue-clicking etc. One of our mates was watching your cube video, and, when he heard such a sound for like the 10th time in a row, his thorns just dropped off! And what is a brushwagg without thorns? Please, show some care of the extincting species, which brushwaggs definitely are. Brushwagg lives matter. Peace.
