We cannot speak to HaShem whenwe're sad and depressed? What about david's cries in tehillim?
Just to clarify something : The rabbi says, that a person can not talk to Hashem,
(the Shehina leaves), when we are sad or angry. If I understand it right, than a person can still talk to Hashem when he is sad, but in this case, its a "one way talk", without any kind of immediate "answering", without a presence of Hashem.
Because on the other hand, the rabbi says, that a person, who is very
deeply sad and is praying and crying to Hashem with a broken heart, the
chances are great, that his praying will be positively answered (this is the most
effective way of praying and I am sure, this is true). I think "to talk" is here not the right word. I guess the rabbi means only the presence of the shehina. People, who are sad ( and there are a lot of sad people), may still talk to Hashem. To be angry is bad for sure. Except if someone is currently under violently attack by an enemy and this causes anger. When something terrible happens, people may get angry for a short time.
it depends if you are sad for materialism or for spirituality
