This week we continue our Alpine adventures in the remote Swiss mountain cabin. We escape the crowds we have been experiencing in the last few weeks, opting to go for a random spot in Switzerland rather than the "must see locations". This turned out to be a brilliant decision as we have one of our best days of the whole trip. We explore a waterfall before heading for the hills and climbing high into the snowy peaks. That night we settle into our mountain cabin, enjoying the rustic charm of our simple and cozy accommodation.

American here, so no interest in "the football." But I would have picked this anyway. Beautiful scenery and great fun. I found myself wishing you guys had micro-spikes, though. It would be a bit easier, too, to do the snowier hikes in the mornings -- less slushy and potentially fewer post-holes while walking. But you guys are very intrepid. Just be careful out there.

Your drone shots of that waterfall were beautiful, but then when you got to the base...😯! The sunlight shining through the mist 🤯 !!! and you both looked SO happy!😁

Hi Tom and Izzy. What a beautiful episode and i have so mamy wonderful memories flooding back because, a very long time ago(!) when i was a student, i worked as a waiter in a hotel high in the Bernese Oberland! The scenery here and the Berghaus, waterfalls, snow was great to see and be reminded of a happy summer! Ps.. goodness knows how many portions of rosti i served that summer!!.thank you!!

We first found separate duvets in Germany years ago and went home and did the same. So much better you can have different togs and throw your duvet off if you get too hot. Great video, well photographed. I think it would be so much easier if we did have wooden houses in UK. Such a pity.

You can find more remote valleys in the Austrian, Swiss and Slovenian alps and especially Süd Tirol that are gorgeous and less touristy.

@@LostInTransit Try the Ridnauental in Süd Tirol. Sterzing is at the base of this narrow valley. Very lovely, steep and narrow. Great hikes. Absolutely delicious vegetables, salads, etc. There was an area legend of a journeyman farm hand who was the devil’s ally. Every time he was up to no good, the priest of a small chapel in the valley would ring the bells to disperse his power. A friend of my mother’s and her husband had converted a farm to a house. They donated money to install an automated bell ringing mechanism in the chapel. The night before it was to be activated, a lightning bolt struck their house and set it aflame. Fortunately the damage was limited. Was it the devil’s journeyman showing his displeasure?
I adore the mountain huts when hiking. So charming and atmospheric and mesmerising views all round. I must do a photo reel of views from bedroom windows that I've had.

Spot on you 2 love birds! Useful using touristy places to get your bearings so to speak but off the beaten track is the way to go .. always have snuck a few "walks" in every holiday no matter where i have stayed. Switzerland is a magical place, wish I was there😢

What a place to explore! That waterfall was out of this world and the views in the valley were incredible. The avalanches were a bit dodgy mind you but eerily spectacular at the same time. Fantastic 👍

“Berg” is the German word for Mountain. Hard for English speakers to pronounce. There are a number of places to see the Matterhorn. You can even see it from Italy, though the view isn’t as good as on the Swiss side.
Agreed 👍Saltzberg in Austria simply translated means Salt mountain.. and yes I know they're in Switzerland so Jungfrau the mountain translated= a virgin woman 🤣😎👍
