With the ants quest for the boomers, the ants only explode if you kill them with explosives or energy weapons. If you kill them with normal guns or melee, they don't explode.
I thought I brought that up but I'm not seeing it in my script now
The funny thing is, the explosions from killing them with explosives was so delayed that it never ended up hurting me. The only times I died was from the insane explosion range of the shells in the room.
Another way to complete the quest is to talk to loyal who can give u a thing that u place on the ant mound to kill them all. U need to pass one of 2 checks though so it wouldn't work for this run

Like I'm always surprised when I see Meowth pop up in Pokemon challenges because I've never seen them in any of my playthroughs, but at least that's their universe. But to see Meowth rear its head in FNV flabbergasts me. Little rocket cat is a Planeswalker and Jessie and James are just using it to try and beat up a 10yo.

This would be a fun one in all the Fallout games.
Fallout 4 when playing as the Female Survivor especially. Going from Lawyer to grenade throwing maniac after a long nap is kinda funny to me.
It’s my favorite thing to make my FO4 Female Survivors just absolute maniacs. 200 some odd years asleep can really fuck you up ig lmao
It is not easy starting over but I am glad you are ok. The best advice I can give is just be around people who support you, go out with friends if you need a distraction. It gets easier, I know from experience and when you least expect it you will get good things in your life.

Fallout 3 with only Big Guns would be an interesting challenge, since the first one you can use is only crafted using a schemtic found in vault 101 during the escape, requiring 50 lockpick.
another interesting run would be any fallout with only exploding pants(reverse-pickpocket explosives)

Sorry to hear about your relatioship ending. I’ve been through that aswell, we got together when I was 16 and we were together for 13 years just about and I had to come to terms on being a solo adult aswell. Good news, bad news; it will pass but it will take time and it will hurt like hell. Take care of yourself and don’t be alone when you don’t feel like it. You’ll find your way to forge ahead.

Can you Beat Oblivion, Poison only run?
The rules are pretty simple:
- you can only use Poison as a means of dealing damage
- when using alchemy, you can only make poison
of course, you can add rules as you see fit
As usually, I'm writing this before you ever did the challenge

I've been looking forward to this run for a while now. Glad that you had fun with it. I'm a little surprised that you didn't pull out a Fatman just once for the hell of it. Good on you for acquiring the Thump Thump though. It's such a reliable workhorse gun once you get a steady supply of grenades.

You REALLY should try the cluster grenades. It is LITERALLY the most powerful craftable outside a literally mini nuke mine (yes you can craft that too!). And with wild wasteland, the two mini nukes you can get in the irradiated ncr camp (I forget it's name now) in the basement become holy hand grenades. Yes, Monty Python ones, and yes, they are literally nukes in grenade form. I love them. Can you tell I love playing with explosives? LOL
I didn't even realise I called her that, but this is the second run where I've done it now

I am hevey weapon guy, and this is my weapon. It shoots pre war 5mm round at over 16 round per second. It cost 800 caps to fire this gun for 10 seconds.

Been looking forward to this one. I’ve only did one explosive run before. Your point on not having lots of ammo was pretty spot on at least for me as I never made my own ammo, but taking out your enemies by an explosive bloody mess was quite fun lol
Hey man, as a person who just got out of a 6yr relationship, I'm sorry to hear about your struggles, but know that you have a large community of people who love and support you. I'll also be 31 in about 4 weeks, so I definitely feel you. I don't know you outside of your videos, but from the sense I get from them, you seem like the type of person to come out of this stronger than you came in. It just might take a little bit. And don't be afraid to lean on your community if you have to. Many of us want to help if we can!

12:17 I won't lie I haven't even played through much of fallout New Vegas mainly cause of the giant ants, radscorpions, and bloatflies. (I have arachnophobia) Which sucks cause I think this game is very cool and would be a total blast to play! Also I want to say thank you for just being a nice guy with entertaining videos that I watch and enjoy. = )
Some advice for future Fallout runs, Charisma is pretty much a dump stat since it only affects companion damage/health and the starting bonus for speech and such. Theres also no other worthwhile perks tied to Charisma either. So dump it to 1 every time and jack everything else up ^

In new Vegas you should just about always lower charisma because it has such little effect on your character. You can just dump skill points into speech and barter on your first few level ups or tag both skills and they’ll be at the same level as if you left charisma at 5

6:07 if you ever do a new Vegas run in the future and don’t have any hold out weapons you can actually get your weapons back in the tops casino. If you manage to convince Swank (one of the people at the front desk) that Benny is working against House he’ll give you your weapons back and have you investigate Benny’s suite, and when you find Yes Man you can tell Swank and he’ll send Benny to his suite alone so you can kill Benny.
To convince Swank that Benny is working against House you either need 45 speech or 3 clues (cigarette buds by your grave in goodsprings, a note in Novac, and a lighter from Boulder City).
Yeah usually I just do the clues thing, but you can't get the cigarette butts until you do the first Sunny quest and I figured it would just be faster to gain the like 50 XP I needed to level up and learn how to craft those grenades

Commenting before I watch, for the sole reason that I tried this before and did succeed but I had to side with the NCR due to the nature of getting explosive's naturally in game. Excited to see how MDB plays it out.

I only remember using the dynamite from the early game, I had so much stocked up from the early fights against the Powder Gangers so I almost never run out in normal gameplay.

Something I didn’t know and that Bread didn’t it seems is that you can hold the attack button to throw further.
This was so fun! Big booms are always a plus. I am impressed you didn't blow yourself up more!
I broke my own legs and head SO much in that final fight, I probably should have showed more footage of it. Oh god and in the underground of bunker hill. Explosives borderline don't work down there. You'll have grenades going off at enemies feet without actually hurting them.
@Bread Honestly, you blitzed the game, I am working on my first NV run and it is gonna be nearly an hour and I hit level like 20. Also, I know this is a semantic dumb thing but it's funny you called it bunker hill, that's the place in fallout 4 where you fight over synths the railroad is hiding, I think you're talking about the bunker at fortification hill! But yeah, I expected way more of throwing or shooting a grenade immediately into the death scene. But I guess explosives aren't as deadly in NV as they are in F4 to the player maybe? I may also be skewed a bit in my perception as I play on harder difficulties tho lol
@@WillowPlaysGames I think it's because it was in normal difficulty, but I do think there's at least some natural damage resistance that you have to your own explosives. I could be wrong though. I know there's a level 12 perk that helps a lot with that, but I actually only hit level 12 AS the credits were about to come up so I never got to use it in the run

@@MahDryBread If you do something similar in fallout 4, get padded armor asap or look up fusion core locations, power armor and padded armor really help with the self damage! Super interesting run! also if you ever need help with game knowledge stuff feel free to hmu! Wouldn't mind helping with research any time!

8:35 most explosive weapons actually can’t crit in New Vegas, they either have a x0 crit modifier or 0 extra crit damage.
I guess it must have been the floor blocking explosions
That shit happened so much, it was insane. The worst part of using grenades in New Vegas is just that the range and what blocks it is glitchy and arbitrary in tight dungeons.

I kind of wish you found some more higher tier explosive weapons. The grenade machine guns and Fatman are oodles of fun, albeit are high level weapons and can be a pain to get a hold of. Anywho, good video as usual!

You can also get inside Vegas by being friends with the NCR and taking the Monorail in Camp McCarran. Alternatively, you can sprint to the Monorail and touch it before the NCR get mad at you.
I love that once you touch the monorail, they just let you on. Like those are the rules or something.

Can we get a New Vegas "scavenger" run where you never buy, sell or trade for anything?
I usually go with a 10 luck build using explosives, specifically so i can rob the slot machines to buy explosive weapons at the gun runners. Getting Cassidy and fighting the Van Graffs to sell all of those weapons is also a fun way to earn money. I usually used land mines for them.

Not to wish or think anything negative towards you, but when you said that she was going to France, a bad feeling formed in my mind. A similar thing happened to me and my ex fiancee a few years ago. I wasn't treated well either. I'm sorry that it didn't work out. It gets better with time though.

In case you don’t know: if you take skilled at the beginning and respec your character when you leave Goodsprings and take skilled again: you get an ADDITIONAL +5 to skills without an additional -10% exp.
I've been told that a few times then forget about it every time I actually go to make a new character.
SHOULD I do that? I don't know, feels a little like an exploit. It IS kinda cool that you can do it though.

The major damage reduction from vats was nerfed from fallout 3 to fallout new vegas so you still take most of the damage you would have. i don't know the exact percentages but i swear it's not 90% in new vegas
The chip in the NCR shed quest was a little different for me, had like 12 guys in there that auto aggro'd on me

For the record, with a high enough Speech skill, you can buy a Passport from one of the fellows at Mick & Ralph's. I believe the priceline is either 500 or 250 caps depending on Barter. It makes you able to buy your way into Vegas without spending 2000 credits, letting you skip the Kings' questline (or letting you save your Favor from the King to form a treaty with the NCR).

I’m surprised you didn’t beeline it to Annabelle or Mercy honestly. Two of the best explosive weapons in the game that are relatively easy to get. And with WW trait you can nab the holy hand grenades from that fire station quest with the irradiated church.
I feel like if you're capable of getting to Mercy, you probably don't need it.
@@Electric999999 I mean, it’s only a few deathclaws and cazadors. Not that hard to get to it, and it comes with 24 free 40mm grenades. That’s a win

This is a really fun run concept, explosive are often underutilized so seeing them get a chance to shine is great. Have you considered New Vegas with only thrown weapons (javelins and the like)?
