HOPE for a woman with one of the most severe cases of Lymphedema in the world has come in the form of a new therapy that will help reduce her massive leg swelling. Janice Greene, 53, has had Lymphedema all her life - a condition caused by blockage in the lymphatic system, resulting in lymph fluid collecting under the skin causing swelling. But in recent years, the swelling in Janice’s right leg reached such a level, the leg weighed 150 pounds by itself, prompting an expert in Lymphedema to claim Janice as one of the most severe cases in the US he’s ever seen.

Nah, she ain't lucky. She deserves him, being so strong and handling people staring at her. I know how it feels to be judged, but l can't imagine the criticism she gets, They're both made for each other, thats why.
Am glad she has such wonderful support. Had very very mild case of this and the wrapping and washing the wraps and foam is time consuming and can't get wrinkles in the wraps. It takes lots of time to get it all done l hope the treatment with the vibrating works.
Now this is a perfect example of loving someone in sickness and in health till death do them part. God bless them both!

All her life she has suffered in pain. That man has a beautiful soul to take care of her.
My husband is like that. I have chronic health problems and he researches to find interventions. He has helped me so much, as I have him (he had little twin boys when we married. I took them under my wing and we raised them together, plus he has a bad accident, and I cared for him, then). I am so grateful that we met! 💕

Her husband reminds me of my dad. He took care of my mom in and day out when she was sick. I hope she can find a treatment that helps her leg sometime in the near future.
There is no treatment for Lymphadema, I have it and I know, it’s in both of my legs and they are swollen but not like that poor woman. Thank god for such a wonderful husband.

What a beautifully supportive husband, a wonderful couple & an incredibly brave woman. She hasn’t just put up with this for a few years but nearly her entire life, I can absolutely understand how exasperated she must have felt at certain times in her life having to deal with the constant operations, being turned away by baffled Doctors, the pain, constant fluctuating swelling.
It even made me choked up when they mentioned the dancing.
Everything crossed this new therapy can alleviate some of the strain for her so she can get some normality back to her life. Sending lots of love & positive thoughts to both of them xxx

I have chronic lymphedema in my right leg because I was born with Klippel Trenaunay Weber syndrome. I feel for this woman. My lymphedema isn’t nearly as severe as hers. Her husband is amazing. What a lucky lady she is to have such a loving spouse.

She should go and consult with Dr. Nowzardan in Texas. He treats extreme cases of lymphedema with weight loss and surgery, and can probably treat her.

I understand. I've had this for 10 years. I too have had wrappings, and wear compression hose.
I have been hospitalized 4 times with cellulitis.
This is a horrible burden to carry.

I know this is not for everyone and I understand - but if there is anything that could help at least a bit - it is Chinese medicine. They know much more about the flow of fluids in the body than conventional medicine

True love knows no bounds. He met her and wanted HER, despite what was happening with her leg. I feel the same way about my husband. I met him at school, my twelfth school to be enrolled in. He was sitting in a wheelchair, and shook my hand as we were introduced. I turned around, and as I walked away, I mumbled to myself “I’m gonna marry that guy some day we were 17. Life did what it does and we went different ways. But I can happily say that we’ve been married 6.5 years now, and at 51 years old, I’ve never been happier.

These are the type of people to help. I'm sitting here crying. I truly understand her pain and frustration. I suffer from Lymphedema in my right leg. It's not as severe as her condition. I'm doing a combination of light and wrap therapy to keep my swelling down. She is so blessed to have someone who loves and cares for her. Her husband is a special soul! I wish them both the best!

It’s VERY PAINFUL. You don’t get used to it. Mine is not as bad as hers but I have the stockings and compression pump too. My skin doesn’t leak. Sometimes in life, you body does weird stuff. It sucks. God bless her.

I have primarily lympedema(no swelling in the feet) swelling from waist down bi lateral legs no nodules. This couple is inspiring, her husband is phenomenal. Most guys are just the opposite of him. Divorce and suicides rates in LE household are very high along with physical and mental abuse. Congestive heart failure as a lympie ages with unmanaged lymphedema is very much a reality.
Unfortunately most insurances do not cover primary lymphedema treatment or supplies and most doctor are not educated on the lymphatic disorder. Most people will encounter lymphademia after a surgical procedure such as breast and prostate cancer. This is known secondary lymphademia and it is covered by most insurances.
If you, a love one or someone you know has this dis-ordered please educate yourself for you are your first line of defense. There are support groups on line that have clinicians, LE members that will help with educating and directing you to resources. If one more doctor offer me a water pill to reduce swelling I going postal!

European healthcare markets are so far ahead of us in management of this disorder.
