  • The 2019 Yamaha YZ250F is all-new in 2019. Compared to the prior generation model, it has better top-end power, firmer suspension settings, and improved ergonomics. The engine also features the capability to be tuned wirelessly from a smartphone via the Yamaha Power Tuner app.

Absolute joke. So at the end summary they say everything that’s good about it, which everything you could ask for, but it doesn’t have top end. Lol fucking idiots. What rider will ever ride a 250f on the top end? A fucking pro am or pro. So stupid

i bought one of these bikes for my son only to find out a month after that yamaha has brought out a service note saying that the timing chain needs changing every 10 hours and the timing chains are $400 plus guides and tensioner ,this i a fucken joke because before they were released some race teams told yamaha that the chains and guide were failing at 10 hours who in the hell would buy this bike if they new they had to replace timing chain after every day of riding ,i rang yamaha up and they told me that the yamaha dealers should be telling their customers before they buy them, i then told this to my local yamaha dealer and his reply to me was i might as well send all the bikes back to yamaha because i won't be able to sell one if i had to tell my customers this. my local dealer is fuming over it and rang yamaha about it and told them they might as well take all my stock of 250f back.this dealer is one of the biggest yamaha dealers in australia and sell more yamaha than just about any dealer in the country.
not to mention that engine mapping is over fueling the engine when cold ,i know this because at 5 hours when i change the oil there is a strong smell of fuel in the oil every time i change the oil and the yamaha dealer knows of this and the fuel getting in the engine oil will just cut the crap out of the engine crankshaft and bearings this is most likely why they want you to put a crankshaft in it at 30 hours.
my view is if you are not a chad read or a eli tomac that gets a new engine every meeting i would not touch one of these.
i am a third generation mechanic in the trade for 40 years and did not look at the service intervals because i would expect any four stroke engines timing chain to last a lot longer than that.
on top of that my bikes stupid lithium battery failed at 5 hours and my local dealer said that out of every 40 bikes he sells 3 battery fail which is about 7.5% of all bikes and there was none in the country about 5 weeks wait
if you want a bike to cost you a lot of money buy one of these heaps of shit .
great bike to ride plenty of power handles well but thats about all.
my advice is stay away from it
