- I have a pack of Scottish souvenir playing cards. Each card has a photo taken somewhere in Scotland. My challenge is to visit these four locations, and try and find the exact spot those photos were taken - 60 years after the event. #calmac

Stellar effort Sir, absolutely love these, very much like your classic timetable challenges with an extra twist. You even managed to start at a station I’ve never even heard of!
II've added a long comment with a money spinning idea ! Which you both may be interested in maybe even get the Cards Sponsored !! So no outlay!!! regards Sue
That was great Scott. These playing card challenges are superb so keep them coming 👍
You and Steve Marsh are magnets for Stairs and anything uphill 😂. Thanks for another great video Scott.
Wonderful video - my late Grandparents & my late Mum would have loved this.
Their generation did doon the water
If "Aulds" was to attract a younger clientele it would to be called "Youngs"!
I wonder if the Etc. on Cinemas Etc. was referring to a Blockbuster?
One thing that Aulds need to bear in mind - as their customer base becomes Aulder and 'moves on' - new Aulder folk are constantly discovering that they are no longer young!
I've just shared this video with my friend who's from Rothhesay and she'll love it 😊
Yep, that "modern" building is the old Rothesay Academy, built in 1959 and vacant since around 2007 when it moved to new premises.
There's been some kind of school on that site since forever and the 1959 construction replaced a fire-gutted previous one.
Wonderfull video scott brilliant stuff enjoyed thanks brilliant weather too bonus eh
Title for next book - 'Cruising Altitude'. Great trip, Scott.
Brilliant. Love these challenges and it's great to see how much places have changed. Sadly some not for the better. Great work Scott
Great video again, and Scott I ordered your book!
Always great watching yourself (and Steve Marsh's) adventures. I'm about 5 min from your first viewpoint there! It's actually easier walking from the station before Fort Matilda. Some great cafes and deli's in Gourock!
Another great video. I hope you do more of the playing cards.
You got yourself a pretty big challenge here. 👍👍
Your book has been ordered. I look forward to reading.
That was one of your best yet, Scott. Jeezo, midgies in November! The Scottish midge is a hardy beast, for sure. You'll be ready for another sausage roll in Auld's after that. Next time you go, maybe it'll have been renamed "Young's", and it'll be rammed. Maybe not in November though. But that was great. Thanks for taking us along!
fantastic video
Another great vlog, love the variety on offer! Had to chuckle at you 'sneaking' onto the golf course for that shot!
Love these challenges...photographs bring back lots of memories being born in 1960 and growing up in a place called Paisley...you might have heard of it😊!
You’ll have walked past my house between Fort Matilda and Gourock Pierhead. I can’t believe you went into Aulds on Kempock Street and you didn’t have a fudge doughnut. Sacrilege! Always nice when my wee corner of the world gets featured.
That challenge was great fun - well for us viewers at least. Well done finding them all. The coast is stunning! Thanks so much for the great video!
Loved this, Scott!
Love this idea, perhaps if you re-take all 52 photos you could produce a 2024 set of playing cards! I would buy one!!
Well done on Rothesay. Reminds me of some of GeoWizard's geo detective videos, if you've watched any of those?
If Aulds do a good Scotch Pie then I’ll definitely check them out next time I’m up there
I'm going to buy your book 😊
I haven't been in Gourock since the seveties, whe I remember sitting in an Italian café liistening to the BBC's Gaelic service on the café's radio.Something else that has changed...
Great video Scott!
This is such a nice slow TV, like rail away maybe, and Scott's a nice man
Just ordered the book!
Having really enjoyed your race round Scotland against Steve, your pack of cards could provide the bones for another challenge. You start at Buchanan, you each pick 4, one East, one West, one South and one North and the first back with the photos wins!
with a sausage roll at each stop...
Really enjoyed this one Scott, I’m not one for sausage rolls but after watching this episode I thought why not after walking into Paisley from Elderslie this morning to do a bit of Xmas shopping! Train back to Johnstone of course.
Just purchased your book. Looking forward to reading.
Go to Montague Street bakery. Been there for years. I returned to Rothesay recently ( first time in 30 years).. . Sausage rolls, great cakes soup & sandwiches available at excellent prices…. Great to go back despite the changes. Visit Ettrick Bay, Scalpsie Bay.. brilliant views out to Arran
I absolutely loved my Weymms Bay to Rothersay day trip when staying in Glasgow, think it was about £6. The boat was probably one of the best value for money travel journeys I had. A real treat and not too busy.
Would love to see a Kindle version of the book. We find it easier to read things in the larger print. 🧐❤️
Fab video. My youngest and I cycled up the road past the golf course on our way from the Largs campsite (which you walked past in your over the moors video) to the Bute ferry. It's quite a hill on a tandem with full camping kit, but nicer than being close passed on the fast main road.
Another superb trip Scott . Very relaxing and great to look at those traditional towns/resorts.
Loved it, great jaunt.
Just ordered your book. I loved this video.
Great video Scott you went above and beyond scrambling through the undergrowth to get the last view. My daughter asked me for suggestions of what I wanted for Christmas so i'm looking forward to your book being delivered by Santa on the 25th.
Hi Scott hope you're kk looking forward to your next video
I have only been to Scotland once and I only 2 year's old and that was a visit to Largs, I must pencil in a visit sometime soon
Love this card quest challenge. Hope there is more to come.
Bought your book and really looking forward to reading it .😊
Oh well, better late than never. For the past few months I’ve been bingeing on your videos (over 90 watched in the past week alone), and have enjoyed the wide variety of your content. I do quite like these challenges, and how you manage to keep things fresh and interesting. I’m looking forward to more of the same at some point, but meanwhile, remain at cruising altitude and keep on producing these great videos.
Great video as usual and included my favourite station Wemyess Bay even though I've only been to it once, it's just something about the architecture
Love Dunoon area. Interesting video
I always like a good challenge Scott, thank you. My challenge for 2024 is to get to the summit of at least 400 Significant Islands of Britain & currently on 379 so just 21+ SIBs needed during 2024.
Bought your book. Looking forward to reading it here near Boston, Massachusetts ❤
Great stuff again Scott. There was plenty of time for a wee paddle at Dunoon though - bit disappointed!
That walk you did in Rothesay was my walk to school for 6 years in the 70s!
Mine in the 80s 😀😀😀
Just bought the book, for me. Merry Christmas Scott
And a very good book it is too. It's like reading a CZcams video.
Excellent video Scott, loving this Playing Cards series, are you going to do the whole pack? Also Scott mentioned his book which I got a few months ago and it's a great read, what an adventure. I recommend it to everyone!
Excellent challenge! You could try some old newspaper front page pictures. Not page 2.
Great video Scott! Wish I lived in Scotland, love the place. By the way, I was watching the Star Trek episode "errand of mercy" the other night, there's a great lookalike of you in it!
Excellent challenge 👍 You were lucky not to be nabbed by the Greenkeeper on the golf course. That grim Rothesay school needs rearing down.
That was a lovely wee trip to parts I've not been to in a long time.
6:46 Was she having a cheeky latte in Aulds with you? Something's giving her some pep in her step!
Also, can you stop saying "Jeezo"? You're giving my English wife _Still Game_ flashbacks! 😂
Good video Scott, was wondering if you were going to do anymore, glad you have
loved that brian d.
Absolutely brilliant video lots and lots of memories thanks Scott 👍
Another brilliant playing card challenge Scott.
M&S is on the up and up! Also Aulds baked goods can be bought at the Scotmid Coop
Your vlog sponsorship worked a treat Scott! Book ordered from Amazon and coming on Wednesday. Will be my main reading material for my 2-week holiday, beginning on Thursday 😊
The saga continues
Hopefully you make videos on the rest of the deck. I’ve loved these two videos.
That was great - really interesting. Your and Steve’s channels are great.
My favourite place to eat in Dunoon has always been the Rock Cafe ever since I was a kid. I love their pancake breakfasts and big breakfasts
Love this series. Thanks!
Thanks for the excellent video. I bought your book and am looking forward to receiving it. Since I live in Italy, it will take a few days. Like you, I had an Italian grandfather. Luckily, my recognition as an Italian citizen went through, no problem. I was sorry to hear that yours didn’t. What happened? I look forward to all your videos.
Yes that was Fun Thanks
Great video Scott. The CalMac ferry journeys reminded me of my childhood when I used to visit my grandparents in Johnstone and Paisley. We would always go on some of the ferries when we were up visiting!
Just watched this and have loved it! I've seen the Edinburgh/North Berwick one .
My question is.... Are you thinking of doing the whole pack of cards?
Nice challenge Scott! ❤
Fascinating idea Scott
Cheers Scott, interesting 😮
A fantastic video Scott. I don't live in Scotland now but when I did Dunoon, Gourock, Largs, Campbeltown and Arran were my playground. It was lovely to see some of the places that I knew. I didn't know that the old pier in Dunoon was no longer in use. A big thank you. You bring a lot of joy with your videos.
Fantastic video Scott
Fantastic challenge well done
Epic video Scott! Literally show casing Scotland at is finest!
I never knew you wrote a book ! A book written by you was unknown to me ! Knowledge of your having written a book was absent in my case ! Never in a million years (54 years, actually) was it brought to my attention that you put pen to paper resulting in a published tome ! So I ordered it straight away before I forget. Er ... Could you repeat the question ?
Your videos are brilliant, glad I stumbled across your channel.
Another great video keep up the good work
You need to do the whole pack Scott 👍🏻
A friend suggested I try 5-card challenge - pick a card at random, go there, pick another card, go there... the problem with the serious travelling involved, as the pack includes the Shetland Islands, Stornoway, Ballater and other hard to reach places. Maybe one day!
Hi Scott Great video this was a trip down memory lane for an Auld yin like me, as a long exiled Greenockian. Largs is without doubt my favourite. Regards Crawford
Thanks Scott. What memories. When i was12. 1559/60 we went on a school trip. Steam train from Scunthorpe to Glasgow. Ferry from Gourock to Rothesey. Never forgot it. Started my love of Scotland. We now enjoy coach holidays to Fort William etc
Well done Scott! Keep up the good work and keep on at cruising altitude ☕️
Love the videos and your such an amazing story teller so of course I’ve ordered the book ❤❤
Great reason for a day out. I look forward to some more of the pack. 😊
Ooooh Wemyss Bay station looked really cool.
Great to see another playing card challenge. The Argyll Flyer is the first and so far the only CalMac ferry I've been on so it was great to see her again, I'd love to try some more.
Well done Scott 👏 the video was amazing and you went all out to achieve your goal can't wait for the new video 😀 👍.
Just bought your book.
well done 👍 Scott fabulous video and well done for your book paul in kent
Great video. Done all the Inner and Outer Hebrides Cal Mac years ago.
Thank you Scot for another fun video ! Your ideas on the video content are always original and entertaining. Your sense of humor is such a great plus. Look forward for more such creative content and reading your book !! Happy filming and Best wishes.
Keeping my eyes peeled for any Dunoonians I recognise.
