Probably one of the most legit reissues ES has done so far. I like the preorder way of doing it. That way they don't sit at shops. People who want it, can get it. Es can make them legit. Then onward. Everyone is happy.
It's definitely been hard for us. So many sole tech products just sit until they go on sale... the pre-sale vibe is hard to do until the shoes actually arrive because shipping sometimes doesn't work out as planned and we dont get everything we order. I would love to grow this part of our business though. I love the endemic skate brands and I just wanna see them thrive again
@@DavidBluetile For sure. I have some of these on preorder at another shop. I know for me, I'm down to pay ahead, even if it is 3-6 months out. Just want them to be done well and fit somewhat true to size. If I were ES, I think I'd simplify their line a lot and do paid preorder only for anything else. They would need to ensure availability if prepaid. Have a lineup of the Accel, Accel OG and a current pro shoe or 2. Everything else made to preorder. That way inventory doesn't sit and have to go on mega sale.
The 90s were really the best era for shoes. The black ones are winning me over, especially with the yellow laces. I'm so glad ES listens to customers unlike other companies. Just got a pair of Strayes and now I see these... The 3M on the toe box ...chef's kiss! I agree with you 100 percent these shoes have got to last well with the rubber and the triple stitching. To answer your question, I'm older so it's a sense of nostalgia. You have a few years on me. Might have to go a half size up. As always, thanks for the review! All the best. Gabby from DC!
I had a couple others confirm on the size up
You were spot on with sizing.
I'm half size up on accel, true to size on penny 2, half size up on creagers.
I'll also add I'm half size up on one nine 7, half size up on quattro, half size down on emerica og-1.
True to size on most if not all vans for reference.

The quality of the suede is so good on these got grey and black delivered to me today they’re amazing, looking forward to the other colorways coming our way 🤤90s were the golden era for skate shoes more OG brands need to bring back their legendary shoes. FYI these really do fit snug I’d recommend going a half size up!

I literally just got a pair of DC Lynx OG, and now it looks like I'm gonna have to beg for my wife's forgiveness again. It's pretty obvious that unlike the other brands, éS pays much attention to what the consumers want. Damn, I can feel that we're really coming back to the skateboarding shoe era that the people of my age love! I can't wait to get one of these again. I fucking love Ronnie Creager!
I am definitely curious on how long the 90s revival can last. Dudes pushing their 40s and 50s buying skate nostalgia.. is there a market for this product that will follow the nostalgia market? that's the big question..... will there be a renaissance of new skaters falling in love with this style of shoe? ive yet to see it on a large scale but curious what the future holds.

Believe me, I've met a lot of young skaters who don't even know these shoes existed, and some of them just don't even care about the skateboarding scene of our time, or who the best skaters back in the day were. They only admire those who rose to fame from 2012 to present. It's just sad. Back in the day, skaters look like skaters. Nowadays, you can't even tell if these kids actually skate until you see them skate. And if we ever manage to bring back everything that defined the skateboarding scene of our time, I don't think it will last long enough.
@@DavidBluetile if they kept them in stock as much as accel ogs id be more then happy id probably only skate these two , I dont really like many modern shoes , aside from the tyshawn lows , I had younger kid at the park 14 yrs old tell me how i skate with the accel ogs I just told him its what im use to and what we had growing up .
@@Bloodlust-hc4gmnike is doing their best to discredit and spread misinformation on these legit core companies. They are afraid that if they let the core companies do these reissues, they will loose their significance in the skate industry
Ohhy yeah! These are defenitely nostalgic! I started skating in 97 and at that time és was the shit. One friend of mine was flowed from a skateshop with és and skated goofy. Luckily i skated regular and got his worn shoes. That was the time i skated some nice creagers and really liked them. Seeing reissue that iconic model warms my heart. They look so nice! The tongue is huge! HAHA!

Hyped i found this. Missed the drop and been looking finally found a full size run on Asylum skateshop (Maybe late shipment?) Anyway i'm an 11.5 in most shoes but skate shoes almost always a 12. my last es pick up- Them Penny 2's were huge in a 12! So i wasn't sure. But accel, any dc og, dunks.... I'm a 12. So after hearing you make the exact reference for the pennys i knew 12 was the way to go in these. Hyped to get a pair of the grey ones

@@DavidBluetile lol tell me about it. I just buy the wife some every once in a while. Those pennys fit insanely big though. Tough these days to find the right size when usually don’t get a chance to try em on. I got dunks in size 12 that are way too small and others that are way too big. It’s the ultimate continuous struggle.

They sold out instantly. I really do hope it gets put in regular production. I regularly skate eS but I have been hopping train to DC's offering because the materials and build quality on STI products don't hold up against fresh Mob.

The only noticeable difference to me is the side logo is smaller and in the centre. The OG has a larger logo which is on an angle. Luckily that doesn’t really matter, we are all just glad to be able to get these!
There are other differences. I had the Navy/Grey/Red ones in the 7th or 8th grade. I have both colors now. The difference I see are the tongue is a different shape. It was slimmer and curved over your foot. The lacing isn't as wide as the OG ones and the grey part on the heel pull tab used to be 3M as well. If you watch the 9 club with Ronnie you can see the difference when he gets the OG ones to talk about how he got the shoe on éS.
They grey ones are so clean
They sold out fast as heck. I think we have a few pairs of the black ones left. Usually the black ones sell out faster

the accel og has a tiny toe box for me too. I can't wear them or the slims. that said.. NB# is launching wider sizes in 2024

Is éS just pretty much making a legacy team, Tom Penny, Ronnie Creager, and i just saw Arto Saari has an accell coming out and obviously I cant forget about the Muska! Hell yeah! I hope more core brands do this! Also the MJ Emericas are back but sadly no MJ whatsup with that?
I wear 8s in accels and almost everything else. Just tried some in today and there’s no way I could wear an 8 in these. They had my big toe curled and hurting. Gotta go half size up for sure.

$125 isn't bad, but that's around the same price I paid for the Kalis OG. Truth is $130. I think it's a fine price.
Exactly. How do people expect this much shoe to be like 60 bucks? We pay more than that wholesale. 125 for a tech shoe in 2023 is average. Doesn’t mean that’s not a lot.
The kalis r wayyyyyy better quality bro I have no problem paying 125 for them or a OG lynx sole tech quality compared to that is laughable especially at the same price....

oh word? I talked to Don Brown and he said it was an exact replica. I dont mind subtle differences. it makes the OG more sought after but still gives a newer version to skate in. also gives collectors and fans a knowledge that others dont have. like you can always look at someones pair and say "those are from this era" and.... I cannot do that. so you bet bonus points for knowing all the details! haha that's kinda cool to me.
@@DavidBluetile yeah the first 2 eyelets are suppose to be round like all the uppers are.. I don't see why all the pics taken are like that then we get different... Kinda shitty.. it's pretty spot on minus that and a couple other details..
the stock insoles are trash maybe only if you want extra boardfeel , but you have to skate eS with the sti energy insoles
theyre not great. that said... the soles are pretty thick to begin with. I felt two inches taller in these things haha.

The reason sole tech sits is bc the quality is horrible why would I pay 125 for es when I could get some Tiagos for almost 20 bucks cheaper with prob the best tech out this is coming from a skating stand point....
New balance does make a very solid product. Hard to argue because their shoes just hold up better than most…. Except the 288 sport. That shoe had a few weak points
@@DavidBluetile from an OG collectors stand point this is cool, but like es just isn't putting out quirky footwear Atleast DC ogs are great quality " there other models not so much example they lynx zero but atleast there not cheating out on there OGs, and es Dosent even have a pro model out what they been outta hiatus's for almost 10 years idk bro I just see a lot of cutting corners with that brand I can see why they don't sell the quality is just not there from a skating stand point idk how there pros even skate them

@@ianmc00 I feel like the es retro stuff is pretty good quality. I can feel you on some things feeing cheaper. Mostly with Emerica stuff… vulc stuff in general. As far as the Lynx zero it’s literal point was to cut corners to make it affordable so I guess that’s the balance. You pay 100+ for quality or 80 or less for noticeably less quality. At 49 I’m trying not to skimp on support
