I have been watching this 2002 concert with my dad for the last 20+ years. He passed 7 months ago and I can hear every time we’d sing this song my dad mimicking Bruce saying “let me see those hands”. Beyond blessed we got to see the boss a year ago before dad passed
Anyone who doesn’t think Max Weinberg is not one of the greatest drummers ever has no idea. He drives the ESB to greatness.
Mighty Max driving the beat like no one else. Incredible.
Max's performance here is mesmerizing. He appears stoic but when he hits those drums, he reveals a deep well of fire and passion and complexity. It's a fascinating thing to watch.
This was the last song Clarence heard before he died. Bruce played it for him.

I was there. The atmosphere was amazing - a crazy mix of a football match, a political rally and a religious revival. This song lifted the roof and when all our hands went in the air at the end, it was a transcendent moment. Greatest concert i've ever gone to and will probably ever attend. Bruce and the band were on fire that night. He even greeted us in English, Spanish and Catalan. His was the balm we were all seeking after 9/11 just a year before.
This makes me think of my late wife who I miss more than words can EVER say.

I never comment on youtube ... but here ... I just need to share my story.
My dad died from a lung cancer in last december after a big fight of two years.
My parents live in south of France and me I live in the north part of the country.
I couldn't be as close as I want. But after a call of a doctor who told me "your dad will probably not be a part for Christmas... if you want to share moments it's now".
I took my suitcase, cross the country by train and be with my dad two weeks before he died.
I shared moments with him, close discussion and tell each other things we never told before. We saw some video of Bruce (I remember him and me watch Jungleland (New York City Version) live and he told me "on stage, this man, looks like a child, he's happy to be here, it's a great artist".
I remember to listen Land of hope and dreams during my daily shower because I know it was going to happen and those lyrics, damn "You don't know where you're goin' now, But you know you won't be back" ... and after ... "I will provide for you, And I'll stand by your side, You'll need a good companion, For this part of the ride" gave me chills and give me chills right now.
I always had a sad sentiments in me ... and now I'm in depression.
And theses sentences in The Promised Land song is what I feel now "Sometimes I feel so weak I just want to explode, Explode and tear this whole town apart, Take a knife and cut this pain from my heart".
I was never a big fan of these two songs before, now it's different.
Well, dad, I'll meet you in the land of hopes and dream one day ...
People, give me hope as Bruce does with his music !

After months of trying to arrange a visitor visa to the UK for my Cambodian wife, I stumbled over this amazing live performance by the Boss the night before we finally flew. It wrecks me to this day.
The poet and ministry of this man and the E-Street band have saved my soul many times. They tell the truth - he tells the truth - about his depression, his foolishness in his marriage, his desperation, all of it - and he stayed true to a higher path - and he's funny too. And a pain in the ass to Patty - it's like watching any long term relationship - where real love prevails - where the people grow up and move past ridiculous expectations and actually do what they said they would do and do the work of real love - thank God for all these people in a world where so many have just abandoned all the values that make life mean something - beyond the fulfillment of self. Thanx for posting - it's a joy to see them a few years back in this video - and a joy to see them now.
