Who disliked this video? The level playing is beyond most peoples comprehension. Luke is widely regarded as the best in the world by his peers and yet we have idiots disliking this. Give the man some credit.
I Totally Agree with you Douglas! It is obviously any one whoever dislike this performance is someone who has no knowledge about this Living Legend.
Top 10 ish, but it's false to claim he is widely regarding as the best by his peers.
It was a bit sloppy. Maybe that's why it's had some dislikes. It's definitely the worst I've heard him. Probably tired or unwell.

From what I always knew, this was an interview EVH had with a Rolling Stone reporter after the death of Stevie Ray Vaughn. When asked how did it feel being the greatest guitarist in the world, Eddie replied, "I don't know. Go ask Bruce Cockburn." I do know that Eddie used to say that Lukather was one of his favorite guitarists at the time, though.
Luke is the best in the world easily in terms of song writer and technique together and even great at vocal like WTF?!
What's amazing to me is how he can keep his fingers so close to the fret board - consistently!

Si sente sempre che è lui nonostante la Rectifire... E' chiaro che il sound di questa testata, molto preponderante sui bassi, si allontana dal tipico midrange del Lukather's sound. Nonostante era pieno zeppo di alccol quel giorno ha suonato comunque bene ! Grande Steve!

It’s like he’s pissed and doesn’t want to be there. That’s not his best playing. Sorry to throw a wrench after all the nice comments, but it had to be done.
I think he was tired.
Unluckily Luke in this video was drunk af, he drank 2 bottle of red wine, this was two years before when he stopped drinking alcohol completely, now happy to see him sober and quiet, my favorite guitar player of all time.

He is not the player he was when he was young, his timing is off on his speed licks and they don't carry the same quality. A great player still? Yes. Best in the world? No
Steve Lukather admitted this: he had a drinking episode after TOTO split. His playing became sloppy and he went through divorce.
