Thank you for the video, but I would like to give another side of the story. I am an American who moved to Moldova three years ago. My wife and I live in a village home where we grow our own crops, raise our own chickens, pick our own fruit, gather our own nuts and berries, and make our own wine. It's a simple life filled with simple pleasures. PeopIe always ask me when am I going back to the U.S. I tell them this is my home now. I love it.

@@patrickwimsatt7492 Moldova has pretty strict visa requirements. As an American, I wanted to go to Moldova and "retire" but they have no such thing as a "retirement" visa. I could purchase a condo/apartment in Moldova, but even a long-term visa is only good for 90 days in 180, so I could at most be there part-time. A residency visa is work related, so I would have to have a job to get one (in a country with no jobs) or I could "buy" citizenship, but I have no interest in relinquishing my American citizenship. If they had a long-term 2 or 3 year visa, I would (and I know several other people who would also) seriously consider Moldova for retirement. An affordable home in a village with a simple, quiet life is very tempting - but there is no way to "visit" Moldova long-term.

I think the memories of your childhood in the village magnify the sadness you feel now, but it is depressing. My worry is that the new generation forget all that rich history and the fact that despite life being hard in the village as subsistence living, it is a clean honest one and is rewarding and beautiful in its simplicity. Communes and villages and the bond everyone has is very special and should not be lost. I just came back driving from Cluj to Bucharest via the Transalpina, and even here, so many signs 'de vanzare' and the same, empty houses along the way, especially in communes where factories have closed. I for one hope designer shoes never totally replace opinci and a Big Mac never replaces a good serving of sarmale or a hearty tocana de oaie with steaming hot mamaliga.

That is the main problem of any democracy, the inevitible presence of corruption. Here in the USA it has become rampant in all levels of Government (from local to Federal). The Government in a Demcracy evolves into a situation where Government becomes a sort of Royalty and non governmental citizens become the Serfs. I mean look at our President Biden. With the help of his son Hunter Biden he enriched himself hundreds of millions of dollars through his Office. He has also become a puppet for not only Communist China but of Russia as well. For Gawds Sake, the Democratic Party actually stole the 2020 Presidential Election to protect their corruption ("The Deep State") from President Trump from being completely undone. Yes, Human natures dark side seems always to find a way ...

Look what happened to these places which were prosperous once, our countries are threatening each other of nuclear war, talk about conventional war as well, and i know majority of silly people from india and pakistan want war, show this to your friends ,family war is not the solution but dialogue is we can live peacefully in the planet earth without fighting each other as we are all human's meaningless war's have no outcome but for politicians and some weapon manufacturing industries. Hope maldova becomes like it was as before all this wouldn't had happened to maldova if soviet union did not had helped india in breaking pakistan into two pieces during 1971 and forming bangladesh, where reciprocally pakistan had helped america and afghanistan in crumbliing soviet economy eventually breaking soviet union into pieces. Hi, i am from Ireland and planning a road trip around Europe this year. Must admit i had not considered i had not considered Moldova before but i think i may include it depending on how difficult it may be to get a visa. It's sad that so many people don't see a future there and choose to leave, young people are the future for any country and if they leave it makes life more difficult for the people left behind but it is hard to blame them :(

As I said in the comment at previous vlog, Moldova and south Italy have many things in common; sadness is one of these. Many families and youngs (me too) are leaving south Italy beacause they've found job at the north or abroad. Only eldery people are living in small villages. Houses became empties, no children voices in the streets, yearly shops closing. Corruptions and criminality increase for the fews who remains.

To many young people want the night life, they want life easy. I presently live in North Canada, on 189 acres, in the house I built. Moldova, looks awesome, I am shocked that the young would not relish the beauty of the nature. I know i would appreciate the lack of-40°c winter
