Use the time to research then build heavy corvettes, then build 6 of them and 1 repair corvette. Stay on the quiet side until you do.Stop your resource collector if it advances before your ready, set them up the way I show you, get set then tell your resource collector to continue harvesting.
Fight your way up the line to the carrier, smashing all the inferior enemy ships, and reflect that you might have shared their fate, had you wasted your money on weak interceptors. Witnessing the carnage, the carrier will scramble to get out of your way and escape through a hyperspace gate, before you do to it, what you did to all its fighters. Sigh You can't capture it, it's too early in the story line, Damn the luck.

ah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have tried to capture it 3 times with 10 salvage ships .... so much wasted time.....
