CONSUMER ALERT: i bought the Camry 2018 based on the reputation of Toyota 20 years hearing from friends and relatives. The car has run well - except for the tires - but BEWARE - the car is designed with LDA Collision Sensors on the Hot Windshield? So the temp. hits 90 and there goes the Christmas Lights and written alert - 3 alerts and check lights. Why design on a hot Windshield? I did the Brake Recall 2022, and the alert problems started, and is like walking on Eggs seeing all these alerts - then temp. hits 85 or so and the 3 alerts go off - and even a couple of times after days the alerts are off - and then the check lights go off to, so I did not go to a dealer...YET. But like clockwork, 90-92 degree - so Toyota designed a system that does not work so what is the solution? I wonder if Toyota knows - you cannot even email them any longer - so the reputation goes South. THEN...when you think you heard all - I did research and Toyota (like many OEMs) puts creates another problem - sensors behind the LOGO smack in the middle of the front BUMPER. Bumpers are for Bumping - not for sensors. One tape and a $300 Bumper Repair Job is thousands of dollars - who in their right rational Mind puts Sensors on a front and back bumper. I'd advise consumers to research - do not buy models with nonsense sensors that you did without over a lifetime with sensors on bumpers....this is so basic. Let me see - can you picture a Design Engineer talking about designs - where can I put sensors to create more problems for the user. Well, we got away with making cars hard to work on (more of an issue with other OEMs). Yes, hiding Spark Plugs, hiding Thermostats and Water Hoses - even putting in a short Water Hose behind Alternators on GM cars (Buick of years ago) - and just not allowing space to easily work on cars - even hiding Oil Filters and Oil Drain Plugs. Speak out. But I cannot see a way to email Toyota. Why destroy a reputation of decades with sensors in wrong spots - can't sensors be higher on Hoods or a roof? Why right in front in the most vulnerable spot???? Why - because they want you in the shop. I like the Camry, and like more the Avalon which I've heard has not been made after 2022 - one of the most neat cars. But do not continue to create headaches for the consumer.
