Yeeesss! Love this. Love the distinction btwn the house systems. Had to stop listening to the 2nd house episode bc all she did was conflate the house to the zodiac sign from the modern 12 letter alphabet system of house/zodiac assignment. Not worth my time. This was grea tho. More traditional astrologers please.

Clear?! I don't think so, she makes mistakes then corrects herself, granted but it's not clear. I was looking for knowledge about the 3rd house. Still looking for it. I believe the host would be a better teacher. Clear mind, proper thought proccessus (as seen with her questions) and clear when she expresses herself. I'm an analyst, sorry can't help it. + I find her constant swivelling on the chair disturbing.
Thank you for the depth and wisdom on house rulerships. After I watched this podcast, I sat down and mapped out my house rulers and I imagined the planets dressed up as the houses they represent. When I was able to actually see it physically on paper and in my minds eye it was a light bulb moment, I could finally see where I have been resisting what wants to come forth. A few years ago I could not understand the houses and aspects and was begging Ms. Amanda Walsh for "Mercy"! LOL, but now I get it! It probably saved my sanity and would like to thank her and her entire crew for their contributions. Also all astrologers on the internet including Astrology Podcast. I do also observe that many planets in a house and sign gives people special abilities like a "Key" to open a door. Ever notice how the end of a key has a combination of different sizes to open a lock. Each size is like a different Planet. Perhaps that's where the idea of a lock and key came from. Thanks again.

One question if you have the house cusp ruling planet ( landlord) in the same house then how does that impact the reading? Libra is 3rd house cusp and Venus plus the moon & Neptune care all in my 3rd house. Hence the question. And yes - I am intuitive😉

I was brought up on tropical placidus houses and had my chart done many years ago. I will listen to whole house system for rising sign predictions but I still go back to my chart for personal life transitions

So great! I really love the part about getting a new understanding of the chart when you get new info. Always understood my 10th house stellium thru modern. Just started studying hellenistic and the stellium moved to the 11th. It has been a hard transition. But I have a totally new perspective after this conversation!

I had a beautiful reading done at age 22 and she was very very good, I am now 34 years old and have loved it even before this time , I haven't found that particular astrologer , but I have come across so many amazing astrologers on youtube :)

See jumps around the houses. Maybe she's just more familiar with some of them than the others. It's hard for me to jump on a moving merry-go-round. My third is Virgo so ruled by Mercury....so it just doubles down in the house and sign where Mercury is placed ? I'm going to just go with that and study other charts for clues.
Transits in the 3rd house describe well what is happening in the lives of children on the topic of school.

I love Donna! thank you for this!!! I have Pluto in the 3rd along w/ my IC - whole sign system - in Virgo - sun and Mercury in Pisces across the hall in the 9th. Mercury is at anoretic degree in pisces.
How about Sagittarius on the 3rd house cusp, and Jupiter is in the 2nd?
I could listen to her all day! I do have a question, she didn't mention mercury in the 3rd house. so the renter in basiclly a kid renting from their parents, making it easier to communicate? Thanks
In traditional astrology, Mercury doesn't have much to do with the 3rd house. The ruler of the third house sets the tone of what happens there. If Mercury is in the third, whatever happens is probably chatty, lol.

Can just see the alchemy of astrohub with you two! so grateful for this series ... bang on about how we'll be able to take all the different astrologers metaphors/ interpretations & apply them throughout the whole 12 houses!! ... just realised a LO has neptune on 3H cusp & their actual Neptune just in their 3H cusp too in placidus! not got my head fully around it, but think it explains a lot!!! ... i want to say 'help!' but I may aswell just join them in singing another song!!!! .... or consider swapping house systems!!! lol!!!! The part of fortune class sounds like it will be amazing!!!
I can't relate to whole signs houses yet. My natal Mars, with Placidus or Koch house systems, is Retrograde in the 12th house in Aquarius. As I have Aquarius Rising, with the whole signs house system, Mars ends up in the first house which right now does not make any sense to me!!
That makes perfect sense!I Also started with modern astrology, and I agree, adding additional house systems is certainly a mind twist. But the thing is, there 20+ house systems, and it's still YOU in all of them. But switching to whole sign places a much stronger emphasis on the ruling planets, rather than planets in houses. So in your case, it's not really about the Mars, as much as it is about Saturn and what Saturn is up to... ;-)

Although I have aries in third I have mars in 1st and 2nd house cuspe and I am loving the aries energy :) with jupiter in my 4th ruler of my 1st house cuspe 🙌🙌yup !!
Interesting as I have mercury in my 3rd house
I have 2 planets in Capricorn and 2 planets in Aquarius in the 3rd house.

I LOVE her energy and the way she shares her exceptional wisdom, and I watched all of her previous conversations on this channel and it is simply outstanding, so with great Respect I say that she could easily do this far more better. Being already quite well familiar with astrology in its various approaches and traditions, to me this seems like a spagetti junction, rather confusing, random, and unnecessarily complicated for introductory content.
Still, I do look forward to see her again and again and again 🍀🔔💜

I personally feel if people are getting frustrated and overwhelmed by astrology, maybe its not the right time to try to read your chart? It takes patience and time. When I first started learning astrology I loved it too much to get frustrated by it, but thats just me I guess.
I appreciate your dive deep to 3rd house. Astrology is quite complex and peeling leyers is so interesting. It's like putting together antique mosaic that make pattern but also have small hidden meanings that need deeper studies.
I have 3rd house in Virgo with Venus and Jupiter. I have mercury in 2nd house in Leo and mercury is ruler of my 12th in Gemini.
The House Series is most helpful! I really love Donna's teaching. My 3rd house Sun and Mercury will be visited by Pluto in a few years. Fun?!
So...my third house is Virgo. My Mercury is in my first house (Cancer) but I'm a very late degree Cancer rising and my Mercury is in Leo. How should I technically work with that? Maybe there's a simple answer? Ha. I'm ok working with several energies at once, but is there a clear answer when working with Placidus? I'm not a fan of Whole Sign because it changes the feel of my placements a lot.
Whole sign houses is a simple house system which works well for archetypal questions. But it was designed in a time when astrological measurements were a little less precise. Placidus is a lovely system designed especially for astrological timing predictions, that became popular in modern astrology because that's what table of houses was popular in print. In either case, the sky is still the sky, and you are still you, it's just the perspective that changes.
In using whole sign, if Cancer is rising, and Mercury is in Leo, then Mercury is in your second house. So ruler of the 3rd is Mercury in the 2nd could mean something like: It's my habit (lord 3) to study (mercury) what's important to me (2nd house). I'm comfortable (lord 3) with talking about money (2nd house). Again, there are lots of variations on the theme depending on the context of the conversation.
If you want to apply the same grammatical rules using Placidus, you would start with Lord 3 is Mercury in the first. So that would change the end of the sentences above to something like "I'd my habit to study myself (1st house) (i.e. to be self analytical); or I'm comfortable talking about my body (or my clothes, or my image).
At the end of the day, neither is "wrong" .. the point of astrology is for you to explore yourself from different points of view. Not to find "the answer." ;-)

Love that I am watching this as the Moon is in Capricorn transiting my 3H, and I also really loved and appreciated Donna as a teacher.
I must say though that I had some very difficult transits in the 3H, especially with all the Cap stuff that was going on in 2020. Actually the time where Mars was in Retrograde in Aries squaring Saturn in Capricorn. (while doing the same opposite in my chart with Mars in Capricorn and Saturn in Aries) was probably the worst and most tough time in my life. Yes there were more then one thing going on, and Mars is also the ruler of my ascendant so it‘s always personal when Mars does stuff but I wouldn‘t underestimate it too much, being forced to switch up your routines due to illness and not being able to leave the house, just barely go to small places like the post office in your neighborhood, was not fun at all!!! (yes there is also so much 6H, but man both of them were such a pain during that time, it really changed how I looked at and viewed the 3H)

I love the podcast but when there is just random examples as opposed to going through all the houses or planets it leaves out major gaps knowledge.

Why would people circle around the question of traditional vs modern astrology so much? Just explain what comes from the traditional approach, then explain what the modern adds. Answering like that doesn't help at all. No one is limiting anything, we just want to know how the knowledge come to be historically. People often focus on the "vs" and turns it like a battle between two systems when it's not always the case.

My 3rd house ruler is in my 4th and I do nothing with my family. But I have a difficult Mars/Saturn conjunction in H3 that squares Uranus.

Usually you'd expect 3rd House topics to be strong/relevant in a person's chart if that's the case.
Question: What is the significance of the house ruler being in the previous house? For me this is both the 2nd and 3rd houses. I've heard that they can not see the house, and I don't know what that means.

Hey Abbie! That's true when you are talking about aspects; planets 30 degrees apart don't have much in common, so it's hard to see eye-to-eye. But to have a landlord in the previous house is not a problem. If the ruler of your third house is in the second, depending on the planets involved, it may give you a practical turn of mind, or perhaps that your surroundings are all important to your routines. But really any interpretation is just a guess until it's put into context of the whole chart, and the question under consideration. ;-)
What if you have north node in Libra in the 3rd? And pluto in Libra in the 3rd? Would that make wherever Venus is in the chart also important?
And if Virgo is the landlord of my 3rd , I look for where Mercury is right? And it's in my 8th so I have an 8th house air in my 3rd ? What would that be like? Thanks

Lol! That's a busy house! In the grammar of astrology, house rulers are the nouns and verbs, the house is the place of action. So. Landlord 3 = Venus in 3rd house, could result in something like "I habitually find beauty in everyday things" Or "My daily routines create a balance which comforts me." It's kind of like playing madlibs, there's a structure, but also freedom in the structure to find what resonates the most. But, I'd imagine My house is your house is kinda a life philosophy for you, lol
