MDT Fieldstock Ruger American 300Blkout 100 Yard Review: Improves Accuracy

- First shots of the Ruger American 300 Blackout in a newly released MDT Fieldstock. This vblock bedded stock absolutely tightened up the groups but there is a feeding problem with the AICS magazine. The last round doesn't get chambered unless you push up on the bottom of the magazine.

I enjoy your videos immensely. You do a wonderful job with your presentation and explanation. Thank you so much.
Thank you I keep trying different things to get better, to bring you all with me o the range virtually.
Always fun watching your videos.
Thank you
Looks like fun Mr. Big Guy.
Wow - your hand loads are amazing. Great group!
And to think those loads were loaded up in 2020.
Big guy you got me fired up on the old black out again I have it in a bolt gun to going in dig the barrel out and put it on.👍😀
Getting in to reloading mine too. Supers so far for pigs but subs in the near future. Liked your handloads! Keep it up!
Check it out been cataloging loads for 2 decades across the chronograph dayattherange.com/?page_id=3817
Sweet ! Thanks for sharing great groups Awesome to see you on the Bipod ! 🤓👍🏻👍🏻
Oh no here we go lol yeah I was proud of my bipod showing LOL.
@@Dayattherange Love you Man 😝
@@nopro5433 Love ya brother keep them in the X ring
🤙🏻
Awesome!
Check if MDT has an adjustable mag release or a longer one. MPA has an adjustable for their chassis so you can adjust the length to hold the magazine in the full upward position.
They are sending me another mag latch supposedly longer.
Have no experience with this stock but I would try the recommended torque. I wouldn't think it would make that much difference but just for shii & giggles I would try it.
Nice video.
Keep'em coming!
kentucky windage the torque is just there for guidance some metal does not have that strength. I have actually seen receiver holes on the bottom of actions stretched out trying to get to the exact recommendations. I actually did get ahold of Ruger after the fact and they gave me guidance nothing more is needed than 40 to 55in pounds. Glad they got back with me because I was thinking about taking it up.

Hope you get it resolved. Maybe MDT will send you another or swap out so you could at least tell if it is just the stock / mag you have or all of that model.
Great video as per usual.
Keep'em coming!
Love 300 Blkout also! Nice rifle Elijah!! 😊
Awesome I am not alone then LOL
The riffle looks cool now 😀
Great video as always 👍 cant wait to get to the range for the new challenge
Let's go Brian I am waiting for your scores to come in buddy lol
@Dayattherange I sent it in, thanks for everything you do with the challenges

The mag issue sounds more like a follower or spring issue. If the bolt picks up every round, but the last one I would think the angle of the cartridge is the issue. When the brass is stacked on brass it be angled higher at the rim. The last cartridge is on the follower and is not being lift either high enough, but more than likely angled right. It could also be a weak, short, or miss aligned spring.
That thing is SWEET
I had high hopes for the subs but I guess I should have expected that with herters ammo. I bet you could tune the hand loads to tighten that group up.
Thanks for the review Eli. I'll have to look at this stock for my Ruger American 300 Black Out. I shoot it more than I shoot my two AR 300 Black Out builds. Something about a bolt action I guess. I'll certainly check out the load data on the page as well. I have some load data from a round I put together for plinking. A friend gave me a lot of 150 FMJ pulls from some old 308 LC rounds so we decided to create some 300 Black out plinking rounds with them.
CV been shooting them across the chronograph for 2 decades and keeping a log of them. Factory loads and handloads dayattherange.com/?page_id=3817
Nice handloads!!
Yeah made me smile also
ohhhhh i like that rifle
Could the magazine release have been installed backwards? If it's a little bit longer on one side than the other that could be why you have to push the whole magazine up to load the last round.
Sub was near silent. Love the "Lets get to shootin" Not sure what the use of a blackout is, here in Wyoming the antelope are in the 150 to 400+yds range.
😎
What was the elevation difference with the subs? What hash mark were holding on?
I would try the polymer AICS mags
Thank you I may just do that
You gotta atleast use a bag big fella! Love the video.
I should have to be fair to the groups
Nice looking stock. But that feed issue makes it a non starter here.
Love the BO. 2011 was my first. I have one of very first RAR rifles.
This is the very first RAR rifles in this stock that has a very low serial number.
@@Dayattherange I have also have same. One if very first RAR in 300 bo.
Stay with 300. The name 300 blackout is just too cool to say . It definitely adds swagger ! Nice shooting ! Disappointing that the mdt mag doesn’t feed the last round . Will another brand mag work?
Going to try another mag and MDT is sending me another mag latch
Hi from the uk I have a similar problem in my mdt xrs chassis shooting 308 win and I’ve not found an answer either hope you can find a solution
Contact MDT I did and they say they have a longer magazine latch they are sending me one I will see if that fixes it.
@@Dayattherange hi thanks for the reply have contacted mdt awaiting a reply thanks again
Leave an empty brass in the magazine first
Ruger-phooey.
The MDT XRS will pickup your rounds

Has there ever been a more useless waste of powder and lead than the .300 Blackout?
The only reason I would ever have a .300BLK is to suppress. No good reason to shoot supersonic with it... if you're gonna break the sound barrier then shatter it!
Some folks have only ONE rifle and are hunting LEGALLY .
.SUPERSONIC 110g to 120g loads @2,1000FPS + are MUCH better killers than in game than a sunsonic load inside 200 yards.
@@JamesClark-lw6sw Buddy, if I had only one rifle, it wouldn't be a .300 Blackout. I do not have a suppressor or a rifle that shoots subsonic cartridges, but I might actually like to have one... and .300BLK fits that bill, but I would only use it for that quiet work that it was designed for. I'd rather use .308 or 30.06 for supersonic or if I want to really make some noise, my .338 Lapua. To me, the .300BLK is a niche cartridge/rifle... but it's a nice niche when you don't want to wake the neighbors.
