Fr Sean has an AMAZING conversion story. Only God could turn these things into a ministry and use a priest who is SO real, vulnerable, and relatable. Thank you for having him on Godsplaining. 🙏

Was addicted to pornography probably since around 1996-97. It started around the time we got a computer and internet at home. Throughout my mid to late 20’s and early 30’s I tried to quit but never could. It was more of a willpower point of pride thing to say “yea I went 3 days without” than actually realizing the gravity of pornography of masturbation. At the same time, I always felt guilty and I knew I was offending God. Continued to struggle into my early 30’s but what I did start doing was kissing the crucifix next to my bed before going to sleep was saying “Lord I’m sorry” and having this interior desire for help. I would also pray the divine mercy chaplet from time to time. Leading up to what I now see was one of the single greatest, If not the greatest grace of my life, I started seeing perpetual adoration in my CZcams feed. This wasn’t something I had searched out. And then I started seeing videos from ascension. One night, before going into what was a nightly ritual of porn before sleep, I clicked on an ascension video with Father Mike where Father Mike talked about sin. At one point in the video Father Mike said, “sin is choosing what you want to do over God. God I know what you want but I’m going to do what I want”. And then it hit me like a ton of bricks, like a sword right through my heart and soul and I instantly wanted what God wanted. Thinking back now… it was an incredible moment. Celibate for 5 years now. No pornography, no masturbation, no one night stands or flings. Just a pure moment of Grace. As father Gregory likes to say, “by the twitch of a string”

I’ve heard a zillion Catholic lectures on porn and sexual sin and none were as honest, direct, and helpful as this one. I love what Father Sean said about memories and invasive thoughts. Very practical and helpful.

I remember the conversion story, the "success story" of Fr. Donald Calloway. It was through the intercession of Mother Mary that he was led to healing, to his vocation. Glory to God!

It makes sense that being truthful to yourself is part of the healing process.
If you try to protrect and keep hiding the lies, then the king of lies, the evil one, continues to enslave you. Also, it takes humility to admit to these sordid things about yourself. Honesty and humility, the kryptonite of the evil one.
I ask Our Lady, Mother Immaculate, and Joseph, her most chaste spouse, to intercede for all our brothers and sisters, that they be freed from the chains of their sins, their addictions.
    Glory to God! 🕊️🙏

A book called "The Jesus Response" by John Pohl helped. In essence, building validation and self-worth helps eliminate the pron habit.

I'm halfway through the video wondering when the Godsplaning begins...

  • @adelephilomenadonata3226

I strangely am beginning to question, before even looking at this, how we really accepted situations like the marriage of Jonathan Morris justifying priestly thoughts on sexuality. Studying Islamic Art in Italy using niqab leaves me chaste in a different manner.

Help making sure it's easy to live without an internet connection or smartphone at home. Then the problem is gone for everyone, and everyone would know it.

For so many reasons, this unfortunately is not the answer.

@@abyz1467 both with regard to porn and the constant propaganda of social media, this is a battle we are losing

I think that Olympic fencer & Nike Pro Hijab athlete Ibtihaj is like me as well as would buy the Ibtihaj Barbie. I also think that the Air Force women who do falconry are like me!
