LYRICS:
Are we crazy
Living our lives through a lens
Trapped in our white picket fence
Like ornaments
So comfortable, we’re living in a bubble, bubble
So comfortable, we cannot see the trouble, trouble
Aren’t you lonely
Up there in utopia
Where nothing will ever be enough
Happily numb
So comfortable, we’re living
in a bubble, bubble
So comfortable, we cannot
see the trouble, trouble
So put your rose-colored glasses on
And party on
Turn it up, it’s your favorite song
Dance, dance, dance to the distortion
Turn it up, keep it on repeat
Stumbling around like a wasted zombie
Yeah, we think we’re free
Drink, this one’s on me
We’re all chained to the rhythm
To the rhythm
To the rhythm
Turn it up, it’s your favorite song
Dance, dance, dance to the distortion
Turn it up, keep it on repeat
Stumbling around like a wasted zombie
Yeah, we think we’re free
Drink, this one’s on me
We’re all chained to the rhythm
To the rhythm
To the rhythm
Are we tone deaf
Keep sweeping it under the mat
Thought we could do better than that
I hope we can
So comfortable, we’re living in a bubble, bubble
So comfortable, we cannot see the trouble, trouble
So put your rose-colored glasses on
And party on
Turn it up, it’s your favorite song
Dance, dance, dance to the distortion
Turn it up, keep it on repeat
Stumbling around like a wasted zombie
Yeah, we think we’re free
Drink, this one’s on me
We’re all chained to the rhythm
To the rhythm
To the rhythm
Turn it up, it’s your favorite song
Dance, dance, dance to the distortion
Turn it up, keep it on repeat
Stumbling around like a wasted zombie
Yeah, we think we’re free
Drink, this one’s on me
We’re all chained to the rhythm
To the rhythm
To the rhythm
It is my desire
Break down the walls to connect, inspire
Up in your high place, liars
Time is ticking for the empire
The truth they feed is feeble
As so many times before
They greed over the people
They stumbling and fumbling
And we about to riot
They woke up, they woke up
the lions
Turn it up, it’s your favorite song
Dance, dance, dance to the distortion
Turn it up, keep it on repeat
Stumbling around like a wasted zombie
Yeah, we think we’re free
Drink, this one’s on me
We’re all chained to the rhythm
To the rhythm
To the rhythm

As a child i thought it was just a funny and happy song, but when grew up I just realized , that it’s a song with deep meaning
Fr😢😢🎉🎉
Still don’t get the meaning
I remember finding it out during 2020 when I was feeling down. And I found this because I really missed 2016 and 2017. Glad I did find out what the message was.
I remember watching this in 2017 with my mom. Came back for a nostalgia flashback to the days without all this woke shit. Ended up realizing what this song means. Very important meaning.
@@igametomuchist don’t use the word woke. Woke used to mean to be aware of oppression in black community. This song criticizes people like you and this was during when trump was president and the anti SJW movement.

“Time is ticking for the empire”

It's actually a very well done song yeah

Try listening to supplies by Justin Timberlake
Everybody thought this song was a flop at first but personally I think it's great because it addresses a lot of social issues that we're not so aware of today. It gradually becomes catchier as you listen to it on repeat to
Ca Ka same here. Have grown to love the song and it's message!
Ca Ka I see what u did there at the end...u naughty naughterson.
No it's not social issues we aren't aware of. These are all the mainstream issues people think are important.
Nikki Sheerin Are you insinuating that environmental pollution, sexism, and immigration issues aren't social issues? They're very much issues that affect us all.
exactly, first it's a good message and second at first I also thought, oh, boring song and now I listen it on repeat 24/7😂
This song contains so much symbolism, seeing all the people in the comments being oblivious and myopic to it’s words literally proves Katy’s point.
Yup
YEAH people prefer following ,funny
its also really disturbing once you realize that life is literally like this. okay edit, in the movie scene, when everyone stands up and starts marching around, katy spins and joins them for a second and you can see that she is being sucked into their world of submission.
It's not subtle
This is why this is one of my favorite Katy Perry songs. For awhile I just listened to the song because it was a bop. Then I actually listened and realized what she was actually saying. The song is incredibly hypnotic which allows you to be distracted from the horrors of the world.
"Chained to the Rhythm" by Katy Perry is a pop song that carries a social and political message. The lyrics critique societal complacency and the tendency for people to become numb or indifferent to important issues. The "rhythm" in the song represents the routine and distractions that people often immerse themselves in, while being oblivious to the larger problems in the world.
The song encourages listeners to break free from the "chained" rhythm of life, awaken to reality, and engage with the world around them. It addresses themes such as political apathy, conformity, and the impact of media consumption on shaping perspectives. The chorus emphasizes the idea that people are dancing to a certain rhythm without fully understanding or questioning the implications of their actions.
Overall, "Chained to the Rhythm" is a call for awareness, urging individuals to be more conscious of the world's issues and to actively participate in making positive changes rather than passively accepting the status quo.

Vonilla / We are. It’s a good song, but it’s also alittle fake deep. I mean, should we really be listening to the most bland pop artist to exist? (No hate to Katy, she’s really talented I just think the song kind of contradicts her work)

@@feliciendusengemungu6683 She’s constructing a cautionary tale through the song’s lyrics and music video which warns audiences of the ramifications of blindly following/believing what they are told and going along with a ‘rhythm’, which in our world is the monotonous and unvaried everyday lives and thought processes of most individuals. She also subtly hints at our society and politics slowing descending into totalitarianism
I cannot believe it took you guys 3 YEARS to figure out the message of this song. Truly was ahead of her time. She was awake before us, and now she can’t even crack the top 10 and she’s actually scared now to promote her music and speak up on political issues because of how twisted her words got and how traumatized she was from the hate over a haircut and songs with REAL MEANING. Very very deep. Everyone in this world seems to be chained to the rhythm which symbolizes social media or trending thoughts. Most of us have fell into the life of "parrot", we speak what others are speaking, we do what others are doing, we play what others are playing, we wear what others are wearing, even those things are NOT comfortable or suitable for us. We follow everyone else's steps, we lose our own style, we lose our own comfortable way of living, we lose our own creative thinking. What are the things left? Just brains without minds, thoughts without ideas and bodies without souls. We are all manipulated, we are all modified, we are all chained to the rhythm.
we are controlled by what we love.
sex - porn, drama - netflix, intellect - internet, food - MacDonald's, validation - Facebook.
our whole nature is reprogrammed.
slaves in our own mind.
yeah it's sad...and it makes us think from time to time what the future or future generation would be look like
I guess that's why the song doesn't connect with me because I couldn't give half a fuck about what the world likes lol I despise almost all of the overrated things in life. Such as Katy Perry and this awful song.

Everytime i listen to this song, it reminds me of how superficial society is. Social media focuses on portraying parties and espiritually empty stuff. We try to fill the holes in our souls by purchasing more and more unnecessary items instead of seeing those in need. I am not saying we need to radically change the world. But small steps, if more people took them, would drastically reduce suffering on Earth. Think for instance about what you just had for lunch. Was there a once living being's corpse on your plate and now in your stomach? By eating animals you are causing an enormous amount of suffering. But who cares. Let's put our pink-coloured glasses on. Cause eyes that don't see, heart that doesn't feel. Go vegan to start creating a less horrible world❤

She did almost ruin her career with all the hidden stuff here
KATY PERRY IS BEING SABOTAGED BY CAPITOL RECORDS, HERE'S WHY AND HOW. (A THREAD)
1) In 2017, Katy released a political song Chained To The Rhythm, before that she was very vocal in politics, CTTR did pretty well on charts. But then she released Bon Appetit with Migos. Migos is an openly transphobic trio and Katy is LGBT+ supporter. Which means Capitol forced her
2) Bon Appetit was set to release solo but it got a feature on it on the last minute, and Katy got so much hate from it. When she was accused of being transphobic, her team did NOTHING to fix her image.
3) In 2018, Capitol's CEO confirmed that they were "disappointed" by Witness' unsuccess. And stated that they have a plan for Katy that they're excited for. But nothing happened in 2018. You can read his full conversation here
4)Katy released Harley's In Hawaii in 2019, which was a fan-favourite, was the fastest Katy Perry song ever to enter iTunes USA Top 10. But the song wasnt sent to the radios, it got sent later when the hype died down.
5)What is more strange about this is that even though HIH was so fast to enter the top 10, the song wouldnt come up when you searched it on iTunes. The song fell so quick. It lasted only 10 days on the chart even though its sudden success
6)Katy released Daisies, her lead single from her album earlier this year along with the music video. Daisies went #1 on iTunes and managed to say in the chart for over a month. But however, the song wasnt sent to the radios.
7)as you can see from the song's chart success, the song got out of the itunes chart after four weeks of release. The song was sent to the radios right after it got out of the chart, but the hype was already dead. and after 2 weeks, the song was taken back from the radios
8)Smile performance video was posted on CZcams without Katy knowing, after it got posted by her team, they deleted it. And posted it again on the right time. But the video already had over 500k views before they deleted. Also reminder that Smile was leaked 2 months before release.
9)Why would Capitol sabotage Katy, why is it good for them? Katy has a 5 album contract with capitol which ends with Smile, and Capitol doesnt want her to be a rival to them if she goes to an another company.
10)Katy is the only executive producer of Smile, which means she financed the album with her own money, because Capitol didnt financially support her
11)an average album is most likely to get 100 to 300 million playlist support from Spotify, but Smile only got 35 million. Also the whole album got leaked before its release by her own label, they sent the vinyls and cds to fans almost 2 weeks before release.

Shall we take off the rose-colored glasses and do we do something to avoid it or will we follow "their rhythm" obediently without doing anything?
Lol way did people cancel her✨🥑
Oi
was i the only one who was in love with this song when it came out and never cancelled katy?
Katy is love
Justice for witness
Despite the passing of time, the allure of this song remains intact after more than 7 years
“we think we’re free” i can’t believe that i didn’t get the meaning of this song earlier is so crazy.
ItsEmlia ! probably about the government, just listen to the lyrics very closely.
@ItsEmlia ! I dont think it's about the government at all. It's about us being addicted to pleasure. "Turn it up it's your favorite song" "put it on repeat"
Brooklynn D “ Turn it up it’s your favorite song, dance dance dance to the distortion. Turn it up, keep it on repeat. Stumbling around like a wasted zombie.” ? Don’t think that’s pleasure.
@@earthbound11037 oh my god i thought she was saying dance to the disco show😂😂
Brooklynn D Yeah this song is about our world/government and how we’re all chained to a rhythm (basically we’re stuck in a routine. Work, eat, die.)
does this take place in the capital of panem
I was looking for this comment
hahah me too
ann lashley , may be
Omg she does
Yes and that capital is USA.
all you people calling out the hidden message or whatever clearly did not listen to the song, or read the name of it??, bro we know what this song is about listen to the lyrics, watch the music video, its pretty obvious
I used to watch this music video as a kid with my friends and we just used to go “which ride’s the best?” Not aware of the meaning of the song and the messages 😭
They woke up they woke up the lions just actually the same as american right now
Lissandra ❤️ x Katy Perry ❤️
“and we about to riot”
Katy Perry, a woman ahead of her time
She wasn't ahead of her time. She just wasn't blind and called everything out. Yall are just stuck in the past and are blind of the present, ruining the future.
@Allah is gay - Stop buying Chinese products I was not calling about who is singing this song, but the song are really so I believe it
@Allah is gay - Stop buying Chinese products Just because she asked that doesn't mean she doesn't know how to create songs with deep meanings. 😒

JUSTICE FOR WITNESS!!!
The fact that someone like Katy Perry risked her career to put this message out, *and that message flew over people's head* ... Wow, the problem is worse than I thought...
artists of such a level as Katy Perry are part of the system, they are directly part of its influence on the masses
yea..but didnt she directly contribute with this song. She made this song, people thought the beat was nice and all, and all the money the song made went to capitalistic idiots. Didnt achieve much. and katy's lyrics have never been her strong point. seems kinda hypocritical to say this message when most of the money is going back to the people it criticizes
@@aamir6892 Not to mention, but this song has a lot of possible interpretations. Everyone who listened to the lyrics beyond the chorus knows it's a social critique, but people disagree on what it's critiquing. Is it criticizing people's inability to express their own opinions, or express them in a healthy way? Or does it criticize capitialism in the music industry? I think that Katy had good intentions, but she could've chose one specific theme and stuck to it, and I do agree that if her message was the first priority, she should've self-produced the song.
She didn't...The elite WANT this message out, and they did it for all artist, They prepare you for their own events, and plans, and they also prepare how you will react. Example, lets say they prepare people for an alien invasion with movie propaganda (pretty much) and music , It happens and the people have been prepared yet we believe the whistle blowers on t.v risked their lives, But what if it is a government manufactured invasion and you were SUPPOSED to accept it and know about it... Former respected nasa employees have outright said it's true, But they don't care , This is an extreme example but this is my point

I used to not like this song before, but rewatching it now, this is actually a song of reality. Katy used a lot of symbolism and a lot of awakening from the current system that we have. What a brilliant song and artist!
#JusticeForWitness. 🖤
most people don't hear the messages in this song
"We’re all chained to the rhythm"
"You think we’re free?"
shes probably hinting at the music industry producing and demanding more music
Well, it's a lot of things. It's technically not super deep, but it's one of my favorite songs of hers simply 'cause it's just like points at how we stick to the status quo of society even if it hurts us little, simply because it feels safe. Change is necessary to improve. But change is also scary, so we stick to what we know. That's why the song is about people chained to the rhythm, even though they can leave at any point. No one wants to leave because they feel safe where they are, even though we all know that something ain't right about that place.
I think it's about society as a whole, not only the music industry
I mean it’s pretty straightforward lyrics.
I relive it’s about the illumanty and she is trying to break free
Believe*
This song actually explains how the world we are living in was damaged by social media and people keep shuttering their eyes without being able to see what they have become. Sad but true.
Literally and when she says “we cannot see the trouble” it’s people taking pictures…
Me encantan tus canciones
More damage to come. 😑
She herself is a part of it.
"Time is ticking for the empire" -- which empire??
Stop....
It's about the news, politics and corporations.

She is so genial and deep. A decisive critique of the American lifesystem disguised as with a video of a carefree amusement park.
More like a city
This video is deceptive and shows the sad true.
At 0:11 you think she is going to a real amusement park to have fun.
The rest of the video, makes it clear though she is at the amusement park from hell instead.
A playful utopian pseudo ideal
Why is it about Katy Perry going to amusment park about some gerbil? Is it supposed to connect to the song? What does it mean?
