Would love for the keys to light up.
I found a glow in the dark sleeve, I think I'm going to buy that. I believe it will not only see the remote in the dark to find but it would reflex some light to see button in the dark. I might be wrong but investigate it & see. I hope this helps.
Why you can just tell it what to do?
That will be the next feature so they can charge more and sell more units..
That’s gonna be in the $40 version.
I just ordered one of these last night, coming Saturday. I got it for my wife to use in place of the remote that came with our TCL Roku TV. That remote works just fine, but it doesn't have a headphone jack on it. Sometimes my wife likes to watch the tv with headphones on so she doesn't disturb my sleep or anything else. So, found this on the Roku site and thought it was a good idea to get one. Also like the thought of plugging it in to re-charge instead of changing batteries.
How long can you listen to the TV through the Roku remote before you need to recharge the remote?
Thats great so it works with other tv brands that come with Roku
Thank you! You solved my battery/recharge problem!
Thanks 🙏 for the walk thru
cool video. looking forward to get mine. yep!
Thank you for this video 🙂
Nice job on the review. Good speaking voice, clear info.
I agree.
I bought the new remote before this video was released to try it out on my Roku TV. The remote that came with the TV did not have Voice or headset options and had a very smooth finish. Once I charged the remote, turned on the TV with the original remote, and then pressed a key on the new remote the TV automatically recognized it without having to pair it. I can use either the original remote or the new remote at the same time. So now my wife can have her own (old) remote and I can have mine near where we sit and either one of us can change apps. The Voice remote has a textured finish but I don't have problem with the finish on either remote. I can use a headset for private listening which is a nice feature. The only problem I have with the remote is a lack of instructions on using the voice feature. For me I am happy with my purchase of the new Voice Remote Pro.
Your wife has the old one 😂😂
Save your money. By the 6th time you try to charge it the remote stops holding a charge and only works when it is plugged into the charger. There is at least 11 pages of complaints on the Roku Support forum that they respond with surprise every time someone makes the same complaint
😯😲
I love Roku voice remote. I cut the cord for cable and used Roku ever since, ps vue cable, Hulu, CZcams tv cable app, why go back to cable. It's better, half the price, and so much easier
My old remote started to fail, so I purchased one of these. I generally agree with the review, but there are some additional things I'd like to add. The remote is very light. It weighs about the same as the old does without the batteries. My old one didn't have a mute button. This one does. The only problem I've experienced is, if I reboot the Roku, I have to set up for my TV control again.
I find it no problem to set up
New features of find lost remote and handsfree audio control adds to a smart choice to stream.
Love that it's both RF and IR. USB-C would be a plus tho!
For streaming services with huge numbers of channel options, I want page-up and page-down keys to make it easier to get through the complete menu options
I used the pre-programed and programmable buttons. That gives me six. Then I arrange my next most need where the home button takes you, which gives me 3 more with only 2-3 pushes. Lastly I use the bottom of the page and hit home then up which gives me quick access to 3 more. All total that's 12. 90% of the time I use 4-6 channels. Even though I have about 50 installed. So not having page up and down isn't a huge deal.
I wish Roku would create a remote control that had the station numbers on it.
As a Comcast customer, trying to find stations via the Xfinity streaming app is tedious.
And the Xfinity app doesn't seem to recognize and/or respond to Roku voice commands.
Every time I try and use the remote control voice feature, the Xfinity app is terminated.
But your suggestion would be an improvement

@@ccdogpark very annoying if you wanna go from channel 3xx to 6xx... I'm sure there will be something to buy in a future version
Agree definitely need a way to sort the apps better its easy to get to the top and bottom but some get stuck in the middle of the scrolling.
Why didn't you try out the voice control features?
I got the Roku remote voice Pro On May 10th great remote so far everybody should have a built-in batteries
Nope.
Built-in batteries = non user replaceable which = planned obsolescence when the internal battery dies for good aka BUY A NEW REMOTE AGAIN. 😂😂😂👎👎👎
LET'S GOOOO!!! Roku is always next level!!!
Let's Go trump!!
@@getme2morenow565 sure thing bud. Cheers!
The Headphone feature has always been my favorite feature. Now with rechargeable capabilities, those two features alone, imo, are worth the price.
Yeah because it drained the AA batteries pretty quick.
Create a new problem (always listening remote which drains the battery faster) and provide the solution (a rechargeable battery that charges via shitty OLD Micro USB instead of USB-C!!!) 😂😂😂👎👎👎
They made a wife proof remote. My wife always drops the remote until the battery door won't stay on anymore... This is perfect.
Ha! Most of our remotes have no battery covers for the same reason. The covers should be easy to find, but they seem to vanish into thin air.
@@oyobass 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was so interested in the Roku Voice Remote Pro when you said it could be used to turn my tv on and off, but then I remembered that's what my Roku remote is supposed to do.
I was still interested until you said that it has the ability to search channels by voice until I remembered that's what my remote does. Its just not very useful, I was still interested when you said it has a rechargeable battery until I thought, what happens when the battery goes bad? No thanks I prefer my own batteries. I just dont see how its any better than my nearly 10 year old Roku Romote.
I wrote a review for this, which should be posted to their website after they approve it. In the review, I said that I like this remote for the most part. What I don't like is that the hands-free voice control seems to cause the battery to go from fully charged to nearly dead in about 2 days. This is no better than most cell phones. Having turned that feature off a couple of days ago, I'm guessing the battery might last a month before needing to be charged. This is considerably less than the 2 months battery life that Roku advertises. That said, I wouldn't buy another one unless Roku fixes that flaw.
I get about 4 weeks of charge and thats with voice control turned off.
For those with Ultra's already it's really not worth it, especially at $30. Ultra's themselves are often under $100 and sometimes as low as $50 sometimes during the year. $30 for a remote that is "almost" the same as what comes with the Ultra right now. For Roku's that "retail" for $30-50 it's kind of hard to justify $30 for a replacement remote as well. You would be better off upgrading to an Ultra at that point and get a better streaming box and better remote over what comes with the lower units, even if not exactly what comes with optional remote.
got my new roku remote, works fine with no problems on my tcl roku tv. yep.
I can't get mine to pair. It keeps saying "No Remote Found." I also have a TCL Roku TV.
@@stevenalexander4721 man, that messed up. mine paired fine on my 43 inch and 50 inch tcl roku tv's. also got another one for my moms and it paired fine on her tcl roku also. yep!
@@driza97 I got it to pair after about an hour. I tried it on my dads Roku Stick first because he wanted to make sure it would work before he spent money on one and I was thinking maybe that's why it took so long.
@@stevenalexander4721 I just got my remote yday. I have the same problem with TCL TV!!! I let the remote charge overnight and will try to pair it again. Did you have any luck getting it to work
@@adambargas7467 Yes, I got it to pair and it works great. I love having private listening and the ability to control the tv without even having to have the remote in my hand. With hands-free voice commands, you can tell it to pause, stop or play what you are watching on the tv without even having it in your hand along with which channel to launch.
Finally.. Rechargeable remote. I want 1
Not for almost the same price you can get an Ultra, Remote, and headphones for when on sale.
When using with the spectrum app are you able to ask it to go to a different channel number by voice instead of scrolling.
If you want a backlit remote got mine for 7 dollars and it came with a case on amazon
So what was battery run time with headphone
the only differences I see here over the remote that came with my 2020 Roku Ultra are the rechargeable batteries, and the mic switch. Beyond that it's the same remote.
@Clinton W Salvato I agree I have Roku Ultra,2020 to buy this is a waste of money if you already have Ultra.
@@peggyroyster3759 There would be one advantage, and that would be to purchase the remote to go with my Ultra model 4660, which came with an older remote. However, while it would be cheaper than buying a second 2020 Ultra to get another newer remote, the differences are so small, it's not a huge selling point for me currently.
Exactly why it's not worth $30 for us.
Respect but why the voice don't light up the light I be still working to get the voice remote love the remote thank you
How long does the battery last? How long does it take for charging? What does #1 & #2 on the remote refer to?
Can you connect a bluetooth transmitter on the remote?
I bought the Roku Ultra device a month ago, and the remote only held a charge for about a month. So, it looks like I am going to be recharging it at least every month. That's ridiculous. The older Roku remote I used with a Roku TV would take two AAA batteries and easily last almost a year. Even brand new, after a just a month, I am already not happy with this new rechargeable remote.
Was looking for a review of the voice commands available.
Look further UP & you will find it!
dose it work with the Tls tx
I have the ultra remote and I have been going thur a lot of batteries so if this is wireless they say you won’t have to change the batteries alot
How long does the battery stay charged when using private listening?
Can I use it to search in CZcams or Netflix?
I know firsthand why they didn’t go USB-C…. I had to replace one on my laptop and components alone $45 compared to $7 for micro USB. I wouldn’t have been okay with spending $50-60+ for this Pro Remote.
Precisely
Es compatible con el Roku xpres?
I want the ability to swap out the service short cut key with one that matches my favorite services, not just the ones who bribed Roku enough to put it on them. EG swap out Sling which I don't use for say Philo instead. I know you can program 1 and 2, but I forget after a while what service I put on which.
Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart all have specific ones. That helps a little. Plus the two programable. But yeah. Programmable for all six would awesome.
Work on your memory perhaps. Just playing. Lol!!
@@getme2morenow565 I bought mine at Wolly world...lol
Is it silicone does it have residue
Im Tcl is an older model & dont have bluetooth headphones capability. Can I connect a bluetooth headphones to remote or is their a way to update my tv to connect bluetooth headphones. Thanks for the video.
I have the roku pro mine charges Scott McCain Berry built-in but I've been searching all these don't to say anything when the when the remote is fully charged when the green light that's on means fully charged or what
Can this thing turn on my tv and change inputs? Preferably with voice? I want to easily be able to switch between Netflix and input 1 (my Nintendo switch)! That way I never have to go to another menu ever again!
During private listening mode, does this mute the TV or just add the headphones? Because of hearing loss, I’d like to be able to listen via ear phones while others can listen to the TV
I'm pretty sure it muted the TV speakers when using private listening with headphones 🎧
*Just got mine.* Works like a charm. E-Z setup & 55% charged out of the box. _This remote is proof I needed a new one, the old one was beginning to have behavior problems._ *_And yes, it's worth $30._*
_I suspect Roku had a warehouse full of micro-USB's and someone probably said, let's use these!_ 🤨
*PLEASE NOTE:*
There's a BUG in this NEW remote. _Unable to turn ON/OFF the TV set._ Roku is aware of this national problem and is seeking a fix.
How long of listening through the headphones on the remote before you need to recharge the remote battery?
For those that may find this and still look for an answer my use 20-25hrs but first It may depend on the Volume for your headphones which is what i use. My batteries are rechargeable for good reason. Power will be low as in 3% in about 4-5 Days but that includes loud music and movie watching almost every night as well as general listening to CZcams. My Average use per day is 4hrs minimum.
Let me ask a question. When using Roku to view CZcams on my TV, is there a way to avoid using the joystick to scroll through the alphabet to slowly spell the words in a title I'm searching? I thought maybe this remote would do that, but it doesn't look like it does.
How does this compare to Xfinitys voice remote? Can I say "Aries and Apollo Adventures on CZcams" and have it go Straight to the channel? Or is it just CZcams and you have to click on the letter to search?
Still no backlit keys. Fail.
You are correct sir
will my standard iphone headphones work with this new remote, thx?
Hi and thanks for the question. Roku's private listening mode should work with any headphones that have a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. If your iPhone headphones have a Lightning connection, however, you'll need an adapter. Or you can try out the Roku mobile app, which also supports private listening via headphones connected to your phone.
Hope that helps!
Philip
What happens if you don’t have your old remote and your tv isn’t connected to your Wi-Fi :(
Obviously you all have the ability to use your hands. The first Roku Voice Remote was a waste of money for me. I didn't realize you still had to depress a button to operate hands free controlling, call me stupid or eager but... I hope this "Hands Free" mid field microphone will be a game changer in my life!
I wonder if the old version was compatible with Google Home though? Do you have a smart speaker? There’s a lot you can do with those that might help out and be able to control a lot of things.
Does the Roku Ultra have ATMOS capability?
Hi there and thanks for the question. So yes, the current Roku Ultra supports Dolby Atmos decoding over HDMI (as well as DTS Digital Surround pass through).
Hope that helps!
Philip
Anyone else have an issue with headphones being unusable when the batteries are low? Before the remote let's me know the batteries are low, if using headphones, there is an high pitched audible sound making them unusable.
With a sealed built-in battery on this remote, what is the recourse if the battery fails? Why not leave an access panel for a future replacement/swap/upgrade? This is not a cellphone going for a water resistance rating.
It's called planned obsolescence aka buy a new remote once the built-in battery dies for good.
I received this remote with my new Roku Ultra, and I was able to add my wireless Bluetooth earbuds. I'm not sure if it's a feature of the remote or the Ultra unit.
I have never liked earbuds....!
@TOO SEXY~ Thanks for letting me know 👍
....and If you cannot wait for shipping from Amazon and you have a Best buy in your neighborhood, you can go to Best buy, show them the Amazon price and pick it up right then and there!!

I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO SET IT UP
@ SALLY, Instructions on tv will tell you..or in the box.
Mine will not charge or hold a charge at all.
Roku has the best remote compared with other streaming devices. I ordered one because my Roku TV remote didn’t comes with a headphone jack. A rechargeable feature is a plus. 😎
Yes & I bought a new Plug in that reaches to my bed in my bed..6ft. cord that grips to the wall..Genius!
Mine is just over a year old. I’m getting issues with the voice command. Repairing isn’t handling the problem. I wouldn’t but another if I’m only going to get a year out of it. The first time it died I had to get an old remote as this one wouldn’t work at all, which makes it worse than useless.
Roku still refuses to backlight the keys and move the volume keys so this is another fail for Roku. I wish someone could do a survey on how many times the volume buttons are accidently pressed while using the remote. I'll start the survey - about 80% of the time I use my remote.
Backlight keys would be a nice feature. To not accidently press the volume keys in your right hand, you hold the Roku remote with the bottom of it held against your palm, supported by your pinky+ring finger, with your middle +pointer wrapped around the back, and your thumb resting on the side with it's joint pressed against it right under the mute button. I had to show a household member how to hold the remote in this way because they kept hitting the volume keys accidently.
Happens frequently with mine. Especially the mute key. It presses in too easily when bumped.
@@AlGoYoSu My GOD, this is working a puzzle...lol
I wish they had gone with the USB-C.
Completely agree, the next version for sure
The roku app is free and does all of plus allows you to watch any of roku available content on your phone while you are connected to the same wifi as your TV
There goes your battery on your CELL!
Mine has a super strong toxic electronic smell. Can anyone else report if they have this issue?
Also mine says mode rc mr1, the official model on the Roku site is rcs01r. Model info is printed on back not debossed into the plastic.
Can anyone post their model and if it smells like toxic electronics?
Purchased mine through Amazon, supposed to be an official roku product, wondering if it’s counterfeit.
Yep, same issue. I had to return it. My entire hand smells for an hour after holding it. My models also are mismatched but I don't think they're counterfeit. Roku doesn't know how to model things.
@@ismann9148 I got 2 other ones directly from Roku and both had the same issue. And yeah, same here, leaves very strong toxic smell on the hands that is hard to wash off. They’re unusable and a waste of $$$. They chose a bad manufacture, disappointing.

Why won't my TV come on with the remote
The problem with voice remote is that it appears to constantly listen to what's going on in the house. Why do I suspect this? It eats batteries like popcorn. While a non-voice Roku's batteries last for years, a voice Roku remote needs new batteries every couple of months.
I am now using an old non-voice remote on my newer Roku because:
- I'd rather not have a 'device' spying on me
- I don't like wasting batteries
Exactly why the voice remotes are a joke. Constantly needing batteries every 2 to 3 months and the Roku starts spamming your screen with a low battery box in the upper right corner once it gets to about 25% charge. It won't go away until you change the batteries and is very annoying. Best to stick with a non voice remote that will only use two triple A batteries and last a year or longer instead of changing two double A batteries every couple of months. The voice features and volume buttons are not worth the cost in batteries or the annoyance of having to deal with a low battery warning constantly popping up on your TV screen that Roku does not give you an option to disable in the settings.
FOR THE RECORD:
It comes with a built-in rechargeable battery though it charges via shitty OLD Micro USB instead of USB-C. 😂
You can always turn off the always listening feature. It's an OPTION.
Just wish the earphones could be louder...Seems you can't get it loud enough..
You're better off using Bluetooth headphones for louder volume. I don't even think most Roku devices except the Ultra even let you connect Bluetooth accessories at all.
I am having problems charging my rechargeable remote. I thought this was going to help. I can use it with the charger in it that's the only way it will work. 🤔😏

My Roku remote is pressing buttons itself
Ugh, why does it have to be micro B instead of type C
30 bucks and I still can’t choose my own pre-set buttons? Pass.
*Hmm, ALL Roku audio products.* _Which means it won't work on my Vizio sound bar._
Roku is like MySpace........
Who uses "MY SPACE ANY MORE"?, How old is this video?
WTF .. USB Micro?! No backlit keys?! All for the price of a Streaming Stick / Roku Express 4K+ w/remote!
Micro USB is outdated garbage. 🤮
EARTH TO ROKU - some of want A LARGER, NON-SLIPPERY REMOTE, not one designed for leprechaun hands. By far my biggest Roku gripe. This would also ease the 'lost remote' issue.
May be an Evil Content Provider DRM influence, but do any Rokus provide an analog audio out so I DON'T HAVE TO TURN ON MY TV FOR ALL CONTENT. Sometimes I just want to listen ....
At least this model has a mic cutoff switch - hate vendors pushing me at time wasting voice interaction (looking at you Comcast also).
Do not like the non-replaceable battery, issue already solved by Ni-Mh cells. Oh well.
I normally find mine under my seat, I say ..where did it walk off to?
Did they fix the problem of the remote doing whatever it wants. I sick of the remotes not responding or when I push any button sometimes it changes to HULU. Why the hell HULU and who knows all my friends that have a Roku says the same thing happens to them all the time.
Jump up & do the "HULA", that'll fix it🤣
When you open Netflix you still have to use the remote to click who is watching. Seems pointless
Micro usb huh...
You have to pause a show multiple times so it can stop with this Remote
Because of their shitty behavior with the CZcams TV fiasco, Roku isn't on my good side lately.
Roku should let users decide which apps to use and agree with.
If you actually care about being in control, you should go with Chromecast with Google TV or an Amazon Fire Stick.
Roku is no better than Apple aka they are both walled gardens amd they dictate what you can watch/install.
I dont know why Roku remotes are so easy to lose. I'll put it down for a second, and its like it disappears
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣HERE...
Thanks but can you going slow please Thanks again
I got one of these and they smell absolutely horrible. Like a leaking capacitor or some extremely strong electronic/plastic smell. It clings to my hand as well. It's unusable and I'll be returning it.
Not a fan of charging a remote
Is this for real?
Why don't they allow you to use Bluetooth headphones or make them for Bluetooth headphones?? Nowadays no one uses corded headphones anymore!! That's just like, no uses landline in their homes anymore. I wished, that they would allow people to be able to charge via sunlight with a small charging solar panel on the remote.
People do use corded headphones and I am one of them. Short sighted to just think nobody uses them because you don't.
