I think Nora suffers from Breast engorgement and it hurts too much to nurse which causes it to last longer because of a lack of nursing to relieve pressure. It’s a catch 22.

Calvin (the Cambodian ? long tail baby) had the most awful, short life. And yes, this baby sadly has the 'Look of Calvin' about it. The struggle for life is incredible even when there's no hope at all, their little bodies try to find food until suddenly, they give up and fade away :(
It sucks knowing that she will kill another one of her babies. If only a loving Mum who has lost their baby could have him/her. My theory is that she has some initial problem with lactating...maybe it is very painful at first. She doesn't reject the baby. She cuddles it but blocks them and pushes them away when they try to suckle.

She most likely suffers from a form of post-partum depression. There are medications to help human mothers who experience post-partum depression, but there's no help at all for wild animals. Nora doesn't consciously choose to kill her newborns any more than she can choose to be driven mad by the sudden surge of post-pregnancy hormones flooding her brain. And, yes, my heart breaks for the devastating loss and suffering of Nora's infants. She's one of the very few macaques who I think would benefit from being spayed. The whole situation is absolutely tragic on every level.
I really wish that human interference in Nora's case, sterilize her, I know she might can't help it but it's so sad to see little ones hungry and then die slow starvation death, they take it upon themselves to choose whom to sterilize to control population, letting Nora do it by this way is inhuman and I seriously doubt she would turn into kidnapper.

In another video, Nan distracts Nora by wanting Nora to groom her. Both hands are needed, so the Infant baby latched on to Nora’s Milk Bar. It worked. Nora groomed her other offsprings too, while her baby continued to nurse.
Nora's baby is a cute little thing, hope she can keep it alive until the baby can feed itself...i just seen its eyes, there sunken in and glazed over, its dying, i wouldn't give it another 12 hours.

And I for one, hate to see those dreaded tattoos but in this case, it needs to be done.

I have thought for a long time now that Nan is Nora's mother. Since the very first video we seen of them on the road with little Vince. I've also seen Nan smack Nora one day for her behaviour. There is absolutely no chance any other member of a troop would slap her she is the matriarch of the troop. Also I feel Nan was matriarch first then stood down to allow Nora who would be next in line. I feel this happened around the time Vince was a baby. Of course I could be totally wrong.
In the tree is she dominance mounting the newborn. I've seen her do that a few times where she holds it high to her face than appears to be making a humping motions?
Many of us think she suffers from the monkey version of post-partum depression. She always seems to settle down and act more like a mother if the babies can survive the first couple of weeks. She never acts like a good mother, but she'll at least feed and care for them by that point. This is truly horrific mothering at its worst. Very few infants can survive the first 2 weeks and Nora gets worse as she ages.
I think he's a few days old, he was able to get a few sips when Nora was busy getting her pouches filled. :( Nora does this to all her babies, it really depends on whether the baby survives the first few weeks... her bizarre behaviour may be explained by postpartum baby blues..😔

This is definitely one monkey mother that i do wish they would sterilize. I know that Niall is still hanging in there thank goodness but she just doesn't want to be bothered with her babies at newborn
Take the baby to a rehab where it will get the proper care till it can be released with a foster mom like on Vervet Monkey Society. Then deal with Nora as is seen fit. Spay and release or cull. They cannot afford to have a female monkey like her.
AM did some analysis on the births and sadly deaths of infants in the troupes he follows. Basically 20% of babies die in the first 6 months from accidents, malnutrition or and infection. This increases to 32% after 6 months as the babies get more independent from their mothers. He recorded a video on his channel Q&A retained placenta and infant mortality, which can be seen it is an interesting video.

This is definitely one monkey mother that i do wish they would sterilize. I know that Niall is still hanging in there thank goodness but she just doesn't want to be bothered with her babies at newborn

Take the baby to a rehab where it will get the proper care till it can be released with a foster mom like on Vervet Monkey Society. Then deal with Nora as is seen fit. Spay and release or cull. They cannot afford to have a female monkey like her.

AM did some analysis on the births and sadly deaths of infants in the troupes he follows. Basically 20% of babies die in the first 6 months from accidents, malnutrition or and infection. This increases to 32% after 6 months as the babies get more independent from their mothers. He recorded a video on his channel Q&A retained placenta and infant mortality, which can be seen it is an interesting video.

I wish the authorities would pick her out and tranquilize her and sterilize HER and Tina... Gypsy is another. They need to go and figure out the ones to sterilize instead of just the ones they trap. They have sterilized so many loving sweet mama's while monster mama's keep giving birth and torturing s l o w l y killing them it's so sad to see Nora doing it again 😢 😔 💔
