AGT Launches New Company “Addimmune” to Focus on HIV Cure

- American Gene Technologies® (AGT™) announced the launch of a new company - Addimmune™ - to continue to develop gene and cell therapy technologies to cure HIV! This video documents the official announcements!
When Jeff Galvin founded American Gene Technologies® in 2008, he envisioned a future where gene therapy could be used to write disease out of the genetic code.
On June 9, 2023, AGT launched Addimmune to focus solely on advancing an HIV cure, building upon more than a decade of work by AGT that led to a successful Phase 1 HIV gene and cell therapy clinical trial.
Addimmune aims to create tremendous benefits for HIV patients, payers, and the public. Its gene therapy technology has the power to transform millions of lives. The new company’s name represents a fusion of two fundamental concepts: using gene and cell therapy to add new capacity to the human T cell to create an improved immune system to fight HIV.

Unless you have faced a life trying to live with HIV, while others you know/love around you die, you cannot know how hard it is. It's hard to complain about almost dying, about having to have one's hips replaced, about having no fat cells left on one's calves, about meds making us sick every day, with deep fatigue, while our friends lie cold in their graves.
Today, I have hope. You cannot know what that means to me, after 27 years on meds, watching fearful friends die of AIDS, because they didn't want to go through what I went through. It was that bad.

You probably will not see this comment, im going to of course reach out via your other media pages, i am interested in possibly sending in my resume for a career opportunity as i am very interested in what you are doing there! I was born in 83 so i went thru the scary stages of the virus. I saw patients on TV, saw Magic Johnson retire thinking he'd die soon, saw Eazy-E pass, watched Tom Hanks in Philadelphia which shook me to the core as a kid. I was so scared. To see what you are doing is something special, even if the current generation doesnt look at the illness the same way we do, its still a necessity for the globe to proceed with space travel and all the exciting things mankind is on the brink of. HIV/AIDS must be wiped out!

This is historic and a long time coming. I can't wait to see the final results. I hope millions will have access to a cure. This takes a lot of hard work and dedication. I was 12 years old when I first saw someone suffering and passing away.

As a drug developer, AGT is not allowed to play a role in the selection of trial participants. This is a standard practice for all drug developers so that selection bias does not skew the data from human trials. Instead, clinical trials are conducted by trial sites (hospitals, institutes, etc.) who run the trial independent of AGT. The trial sites are in charge of recruiting participants for the clinical trials as well as conducting the medical procedures necessary to treat a person with AGT103-T. So, in order to participate in a clinical trial for AGT103-T, you’ll need to apply to a trial site to be considered. If we are given approval to move on to a later stage trial, we will let everyone know which trial sites are participating and how to apply to those sites, so stay tuned! The best way to access information on the trial is to subscribe to our newsletter or follow our social media channels.

I like this man but how can he fix this gene therapy is so expensive. The majority of people with HIV are in low-income areas.
Hopefully they won’t stay low income for long
Our goal is to keep the cost as low as possible so that everyone that needs a cure can have it. As technology advances the prices will only continue to lower as the process of making the cure becomes more efficient.
