Spearhead has surprised me and is incredibly fun.
I think it's an amazing format in it's own right, so if you've ever thought that an AoS faction was cool, but you never wanted to commit to a full army, Spearheads would be an awesome way to have some minis and play with them.
I did not mention this in the video, but you get two Spearheads in the new Skaventide box, and you get the book, terrain and mat required to play. So if you like Skaven and/or Stormcast, it might be worth considering.
As always, thanks for watching!
I'm definitely interested in seeing your thoughts on each individual spearhead. Could be short videos reviewing units and rules 😄
To counter first turn charges, make use of screening units. If you can use a unit with reinforcement, the cavalry unit will spend its strength on a unit that will come back, allowing you to counter charge them and force them into a bad trade off .
Yeah, you should be able to mitigate that with screens and terrain. Same as if you were playing real AoS
So season of war is doing a spearhead tournament.
Of the 8 games so far, 5 wins for the player who started the 1st turn
Thats like 60% vs 40%
From everything ive seen, the Cards drawn on the 1st round make way more of a difference.
Easy house rule that will help. In the 1st roumd player 1 can mulligan 1 card and player 2 can mulligan 2 cards.
Keen to hear how maggotkin went.
I really like your content!
Your focus on CP and spearhead is very interesting for a causual gamer like me.
What are your thoughts on replayability? One of my critique on CP. You think AOS does it better for SH? Exspecially if you won't have the chance to switch armys alot...
Appreciate your evaluation.
I haven't been able to play yet, but I did watch quite a lot of battle reports, and I think what especially compounds the impact of the first turn that you described is the way the twist is handled. If the player that wins the twist roll-off gets a very beneficial twist that benefits only them (like rooting the opponent's cavalry unit; making the central objective easy to take & hold; maybe others) and maybe even also gets to go first, it feels like it can decide the entire game right there and then.
What do you think about not having a twist for round 1, or limiting it to twists that let both players choose something (blood marked/objective each/etc)?
Looking forward to your upcoming spearhead contents
It has made me more interested in breaking out (and finishing painting) many of the models that have collected dust on my shelves for years.
It would be great if you could review all the Spearhead-boxes, the format seems very promising and have alot of potential.
More please
I recently bought the skaventide box as a complete entry into the game. Is it worth it? And from your expertise how balanced are is the flagship box.
I’ve heard the Skaven are very difficult to play and get crushed by the Stormcast if both players are equal
As far as the warscrolls go does it seem like rend has been reduced across the field? I’ve only seen a few but that’s the pattern I’m sering
Was really informativ and interesting. Do you played against Fyreslayers yet? I am building my spearhead Fyreslayers atm.
Are all the spearhead warscrolls in the box or those sold separately?
Sold in the launch box inside the fire and jade spearhead book. Will also be downloadable they said
where do you get the unit stats
Fire and Jade spearhead rulebook, online download or with the leaks out in the wild . Can play the whole game right now
@@dannyward4385 app? I don't mind paying for that
