    Ak & Joe had great chemistry on that show & if the show would've continue consistently it would have been HUGE after say, a 5 year span. Complex dropped the ball penny-pinching in the short-term, but lost a potentially GAME CHANGING show long-term. Ak & Joe brought attention to Complex that wasn't previously there. That being said, as an entrepreneur/creator myself - I totally feel where Joe is coming from on the business end. Both AK & Joe are thriving individually without complex 💯

Pay raise mid contract instead of waiting till re-negotiation, got that twice. Then he started talking about wanting full creative control over the show and what was discussed, control over AK and Nedeska's contracts, ownership of the IP, ect.

    These two with Nadeska were the only reasons why I watched anything on Complex channel. The topics in conjunction with the interactions between the three had me so animated with what they were bringing to the forefront and had me rofl at the same time with the outbursts, quips, & conversations! There were episodes that I used to watch multiple times because it was so entertaining yet informative with what was going on in the culture. Once Joe left is when it all started going downhill. The chemistry wasn't the same, the entertainment value wasn't the same, the show itself just wasn't the same. Everyday Struggle featuring Joe Buddens, DJ Akademiks, & Nadeska is something that will be ingrained in hip hop culture for a long time. That's something that Complex cannot take away from either of these gentlemen.

  • @anti-parasocial
    @anti-parasocial Před 2 lety +240

    One thing I remember a lot of people saying when Joe left Everyday Struggle was that Ak needed to part ways with it too. The numbers were there even back then to say dude was big enough to do his own pod because the CZcams channel was already doing numbers.
    When Joe was there the dynamic was Ak and Joe, Nadeska was the mediator. When Joe left, Ak carried that shit. When they were on their quest for another Joe it never worked so they put Wayno in there (no diss to Wayno) because Ak was carrying that shit from the point. And suspending Ak during the pandemic for saying something about John Legend cabbagepatch head ass wife was the nail in the coffin

    • @Noadvantage246
      @Noadvantage246 Před 2 lety +17

      AK did good, like he explained here its not always about getting something great up front. He bid his time, put in the hours and I'm sure he negotiated a hell of a good deal later on. Now he has more clout than ever negotiated a great pod deal with Spotify and actually has enough creditablty and connections to get A list guests. If he'd left back then there's no way he'd be able to do that

    Joe is right. Other than burning all his bridges of course lmao. But ownership is key, people like Sean Evans who hosts Hot Ones is on a bigger platform but once Complex chooses to cut him, his checks end and he is just another host looking for work.

      Shawn actually owns hot ones. He and his cream created and First We Feats hosts it. First We Feat is then hosted by Complex. So this is incorrect sir. He could just move the show if Comlex is no longer involved.

    Joe a contract is a contract man... complex was taking all the risks and fronting the money for the show. Nobody knew it would be a hit... so once it took off, Joe didn't want to honor the original contract he signed before it expired and demanded more money. That is not how it works. If the showed bombed, joe and ak still would've wanted complex to uphold their end of the contract and pay them out... the big pay day was coming because they had something special... joe was selfish and shortsighted.
