On a TDI, because of its build, the fuel tank and the tank for AddBlue, there's no space for a double side exhaust. If you want real exhaust on both sides you need to configure a benzine.
So glad I bought the 2017 petrol model. 4 real exhaust pipes and ‘Pops and bangs’ before the EU emissions police killed off the fun and drama. Lucky escape. TBH I wouldn’t have bought the S5 in its current boring diesel guise.

not a fan of the facelift at all... no new features aside from the laser lights and a "new" MMI which honestly (feature-wise) looks like it only got a new layout... my thoughts: keep the touchscreen for passangers (since they always go to tap the screen in my car anyways) and bring back the scroll wheel for the driver; it's so much easier! Hopefully the diesel engine is worth it. Sorry Audi... at this rate, I will stick with my 2019 S5!

What does "reduced display" mode look like on the virtual cockpit? How do you like the new screen placement and size, is it better because it's bigger, or does it not look as integrated?
Didn't get the chance to play with all modes but I overall like the new layout, feels more modern. I like the new size of the central display, way easier for touch control but it feels a bit weird talking about integration
I presume the 700NM torque from that TDI engine compared with my 2019 S5 500 NMTSI engine makes very signficant difference in lane overtaking. Wondering how differently better. Shame! It could not be so in Hong Kong due to our local auto pollution regulation..
I look forward to replacing the exhaust system with an actual quality part, instead of that fake crap they're using. Should only take a few hours. Other than that, it is an awesome car!!

Kenn M I got mine with only 15000km in which depreciated it 25k$ (cad), pretty much brand new but already took the initial hit of depreciation, just keep your eye out for the right opportunity and buy one used like that.
I think the very powerfull Diesel is a cool thing, the problem is rather, that the RS5 only comes with a tiny 2,9L Gasoline engine that is vastly inferior to BMWs in line 6 Zylinder which has alot more power. Generally speaking though, i like the split into high performance Diesel for the S, and highest performance Gas engingw.
The only reason I will never buy it is because of the exhaust what a shame, I already have an A5 and wanted another one but this diesel has ruined the car.
Fake exhaust...imagine the winter ... steam ... smoke ... flies only from one side ... a shame to sit in such a car ... I liked Audi very much, but giving tdi to S ... and the fake exhaust is a nail in the coffin...
Then just buy the petrol. You'll also get real exhaust tips with the petrol model too. I don't know what you're complaining about. Some people want the diesel too because of economy and diesel is also cheaper. It gives a lot of options for people

Disgusting... Every vent on the outside is fake and why the heck is the left exhaust "real" and the right fake?! I have an exhaust or not. Theres no way to install fake coffee cup looking exhausts. And then this ridiculous sound... AUDI!! I know you can do it better, so why don't you just do it?!?! Alfa Giulia, I'm on my way...

Viewers in the U.S. should relax. We don't get the TDI (diesel) engine. Therefore, no need to freak out about the fake exhaust.
This must be market specific. The US model has proper dual exhausts.

Don't like the newer style chunks for drls, look cheap. Crisp lines look more stylish

There are no “valves” on the exhaust! It’s done with a sound actuator, “speaker”in the exhaust.
