National Tropical Botanical Garden - Allerton McBryde Spotlight - KVIC-TV, myKauai.com [Activity]

Darian visits with Walt McCoy of the National Tropical Botanical Gardens on Kauai's south shore. Three National Tropical Botanical Gardens are on Kauai; two on the south shore, one on the north. The McBryde and Allerton Gardens are down in Lawai, and this visitor's center for these gardens is across from Spouting Horn.
Allerton Garden is "is 85 acres of totally manicured work of landscape architecture... The Allerton tour is a 2.5 hour guided tour that starts at the visitor center, and we take a beautiful tram ride down into this magnificent valley... we basically walk about 3/4 of a mile to a mile during the tour. We take it in at a nice easy pace."
Come to Allerton and see the Jurassic Park trees: "These are the Moreton Bay figs, they're native to southern Australia, and they're very famous, they were used in Jurassic Park. This tree right here behind us, this is where the eggs of the dinosaurs were discovered."
McBryde Garden is a "garden of science and research and is home to our living collections and our conservation efforts. Actually over 4000 different species of plants and trees that have collected and are on display in the McBryde Garden."
