Tom Was Here: Pirates vs. Dodgers - PNC Park Home Plate Club - Ohtani vs. Skenes - June 2024

We were fortunate enough to attend the hottest ticket in baseball last night when we stopped by PNC Park to catch the Pittsburgh Pirates vs. LA Dodgers. It included the heavyweight bout of Paul Skenes vs. Shohei Ohtani for the first time ever. It was also Ohtani’s first trip to Pittsburgh in his career so we knew we had to get to this one. Thanks to my brother, not only did we get there but also by way of the home plate club. My son was angling for an Ohtani auto but it’s not the easiest to get near the away dugout from home plate. I also got to eat at the home plate buffet - grab some mid game snacks. We catch each Ohtani at bat vs. Skenes and beyond as well as most of the Skenes strikeouts. As I was filming the outro, my son noticed Livvy Dunne making her way down to our section and wouldn’t be denied on a selfie with her. Skenes will be an Ace for his entire career dudes stuff is still so raw that I’m scared as a dodger fan that his celling is higher than most

I wouldn’t be too scared, you guys will probably have him in a few years. The Pirates haven’t exactly spent big money as late and definitely not the giant money he may command if he only gets better.

I was at the first and third game of the dodgers series and saw Betts Freeman homer in the first and third game was there for Skenes game when he pitched vs the Giants

Solid games for sure. I don’t get to a ton of games but this one was well worth it!
