Sorry for the wait on this one, my Touhou peeps. It's been done for a while, but it's just been getting pushed back all the time. :P
So this one was originally going to be a drumstep song. I know, right? What the contrast when you think of a genre like that and actually listen to what I went for with this remix (I suppose it's something along the lines of dance, or... yeah, I don't know. Something at LEAST in the giant mother category that is EDM), but I didn't go for that initial genre idea after because I found out that when I try to produce drumstep or dubstep, I start trying to blatantly copy every living song I've ever listened to in my life all at the same time also lobbed in those sub-categories of EDM and then I proceed to try to magically make them blend into whatever song it is I'm working on. And then I get REALLY stumped and frustrated. And that's no fun. I'm thinking I tend to do this because as it is right now I don't really know how to produce a convincing drumstep/dubstep track, and I especially don't know how to do such a thing with confidence, so what ends up happening at the end of the day is a big hot mess with no inspiration and no sense attached all thanks to me being a dumb-butt one trick pony. Not that this particular remix is much of a spectacle regardless of my smart decision to change direction, though--it kind of lacks my usual variety, and I don't like it as much as some of my other works because of that. Oh well. I at least hope it's listenable until more Raiko remixes come around.
Blargh, writing that brought my positivity down a notch (I'm so gosh darn lame sometimes), so on to a more positive note, then--ohmigosh Raiko's design. Totally classy, and so unlike other Gensokyo residents' designs. It works though, and her smug look really makes her appear so much more cunning and ready to beat you up in an epic danmaku battle. I want to be able to face against her someday. Once I can play Touhou 14 with more reliability--until then, Raiko~~
