I've been waiting for Cribs:Tom Quayle - so super happy with this
Ive been using these units for about 3 years now with no issues. I had the same front mount issue with my Ibanez SA. to fix it I just took the jack socket out and added a second nut so it could protrude more from the guitar, solving the issue with the shoulders of the U2 unit.
Very cool demo including the latency test! I used to have an Ibanez S and found that output jack recess an issue before. Loved the slim body though!
V nice! Always nice to find a new TQ video in the sub box. Hope all's good with you too mate 👍
Looks pretty awesome!
I’ve been using the xvive live for a couple years now. Love it.
Awesome - I'm a big fan of all the gear I've tried from them.
Tom you freaking beast
I use this toy and it is absolutely amazing; it really works, no latency, sounds like a normal cable
Had it for a while and really like it, but there is a bit of tone loss if ABing. I primarily use it when I want to wander around a bit or when I have a hum issue that can be resolved between two devices. I’d give it 8 out of 10.
I like using wireless units like this to make my pedal board wireless too! No more someone tripping on a cable and ripping it out of a socket… or worse.
wooohoooo house tour !!!
Wireless : Bright Tone
Wired : Warm Dark Tone
I liked the wired ✌️
Yeah - I heard that too, but I don't think it's that the wireless tone is 'bright' per se - rather that there's no resistance in the signal path compared to the 10m long cable I was using that will inevitably darken the tone somewhat. Cool to have options!
Just add 10m of cable between the receiver and the amp and you'll get all that wired tone back 😄
Thanks for an interesting review. Looks like you have an audio dropout on your wireless recording a bit into the audio?
Dropouts is, as you mention, is a problem with all wireless system especially the ones that uses 2.4GHz
I have tested several and the Shure DLXD4 works amazingly well. I even record with it. But its expencive....
When I measure the latency it seems to be >3 msec (I did a fast test so it may be a bit unprecise…..).
Listen through headphones is very revealing and the inexpensive wireless I have just don't make it for recording purpose, as far as I have experienced
I believe that dropout was due to the audio interface being right next to my Mac mini and PC wifi card. The receiver was positioned within a couple of inches of these wifi devices.
That 5ms latency is alright but it stacks if you have a bigger signal chain. Just saying, I'm feeling 10-20 ms. Above that is unusable for me.
Great review Tom! Does the latency increase if the distance between Tx and Rx is increased?
No. Radio waves travel at the speed of light.
If they made one that could send two signals, say channel 1 and 2, at the same time, you could run a 2 amp system. Then, with a blend button you could have amp1, amp 2, or both. All controlled from a switch on the guitar. A wireless ABY box. I would buy one of those.
They make one. It’s called the FedABC.
@@user-zv7lm8uk7h Thanks, I'll check it out.
@@user-zv7lm8uk7h Nothing on Google. Do you have a link?
@@fedup3449 Yes its called the CZcamsUserFED-ABY box. Try searching for that.
@@user-zv7lm8uk7h Ok - got that. I'm familiar with ABY pedals. I was actually talking about the Xvive wireless gtr jacks. My idea was that they make one with a channel switcher in it, hence my phrase "a wireless ABY switcher" controllable from a button on the jack casing on the guitar. That would be cool. Thanks for the link anyway.
The corded demo has a creamier sound. The wireless demo had an Akira Takasaki tone to my ears. Now I’m off to go break out my old Loudness albums. 😂
Being a Helix owner, would the 5ms latency stack on top of the Helix latency? If so, this might put the total latency closer to 10ms. Useable? Anyone here doing this?
I'm not sure about this Bradley, but I could do some tests with my Axe FX.
Ah an unofficial house tour
Mine stopt work sam reason i do not now...
In 3 to 5 years this will be e-waste. I won’t support such business which leads to environmental pollution.
Is it that difficult to offer a product with replaceable battery?
So what exactly is your gripe?
