    Last rant: I understand that Pakistani musicians use a different method of musical tuning(being fond a quarter step intervals, whereas Western musicians prefer half and whole step intervals) but these parts are being marketed as Western Scottish Style Bagpipes and therefore are quite misleading. This I feel is the biggest issues with the large influx of Pakistani instruments hitting the Western Market. If the Pakistani manufacturers ever want to make a serious positive impact in the Western Piping Community, they should consider meeting the same consistent standards of Scottish Pipes. UNTIL THIS IS DONES, buyers beware, these instruments are made to a very different standard and for a very different purpose than most Highland Bagpipers are looking for! Happy Piping!

    The problem with these pipes, aside from the quality of wood, is how they are made. Bagpipes made by hand may have a certain appeal of tradition to them, however, the accuracy of using both hand work as well as computer base measuring systems is what is going to produce a better product.

  • @highlandspiper8838
    @highlandspiper8838 Před rokem +1

    "They make pipes of the same quality as Scotland" Absurd-First I can look at those "workshops" and tell that simply is impossible. The materials are substandard-yes they may "export many more Bagpipes than any other country"..Why? Because Scotland, followed by Canada and US, are the only other makers of pipes in any significant quantity. And Pipes from the UK, US., and Canada are generally quality instruments no matter the brand, that cost 6-10 times what Pakistani "pipes" cost. The reason Pakistan sells more pipes is simple: Americans with their fascination with their "Scottish ancestry" love the novelty of the pipes They want desperately to express that through being a Piper-something that less than 5% of those who start to learn to play will actually succeed at. They go to Amazon like they do for everything, and buy the cheapest set of bagpipes they can afford for 100-250 bucks.-They have no clue that they need to start with a practice chanter before even considering pipes, and they need to learn the basics on that for a full year before their INSTRUCTOR tells them they need pipes. But instead, they think they are somehow the exception and will "self teach" themselves how to play using CZcams vids. They dont bother with a instructor, how hard can it be right, after all they played recorder in middle school and were in high school band- they got this . They generally quit in frustration within a cple weeks in most cases, when they realize they wont be playing beautiful tunes on their 150.oo set of Pakistani "pipes" within a cple weeks after watching a vid or two. They see the work and dedication it will take to learn to play the most difficult instrument in the world as well as the cost involved. Those who are determined and serious, and actually contact a pipe band who has a instructor, if they are serious, and can afford piping, they buy a chanter and take lessons for many months then buy a good QUALITY set of pipes for anywhere from 900.00 to 5,000.00 from a reputable maker In Scotland, Canada or the US . But yes, Amazon sells thousands of these sets-as much as experienced pipers on social media like Facebook try to warn them not to do-they are advised to get instructors and a chanter, they dont even need pipes for quite some time. But the unaware will order these useless junk instruments -have them bought as gifts at Christmas , birthdays ect. Dont buy these. I respect the entrepreneurial spirit to make money but lying to people, telling them their product "is as good as Scottish made pipes" is laughable. A simple look at those those "Workshops " should be a clue.- Anyone can can hear the pipes they were playing are horribly tuned. The wood needed to make quality pipes has to be high quality and aged for years in climate controlled conditions before its used- which I can tell you there isn't happening. I hate to speak so poorly of their efforts but its misleading and dishonest and patently offensive to real pipe makers for them to sit there on CNN no less-who did a damn crappy job of honesty in vetting in this story. They should stick to making cases, and toy sets to be sold on the Royal Mile and stop taking advantage of People who dont know that their products are not going to be able to be played seriously. I cant beleive this nonsense made it past the editors at CNN. SMH

  • @rmcq1999
