    Hi, well done.
    You say its a N690 Steel.
    Don't you have a problem with oxygen when hardening?
    At what temperature do you hardening?

    • @ASimao71
      @ASimao71 Před rokem +3

      Actualy it can be done this way... Realizing how thick a knife blade is, and the heat treatment protocols given by the steel supliers (which are for one inch thickness standards) soak times and temperatures for hardening and tmpering should be "converted" for the piece to be heat treated so... Would it bennefit from an anti scale compound applied? Well, maybe... Would the use of a thermocouple give a more precise temp? Sure... But, if one has enough experience, it can be done this way for simple carbons to 12C27, AEBL, N690, D2, etc, yes. Not so much for the PM steels though. Those are a bit more finicky...

It was only in the 1920's that Jspan caught up and lately China is trying their best. Every race has their own excellence and we should respect each other for that, like you do. Thanks.

    Nice metalworking and fit&finish.
    Heat treat? *siiigh* Why no tempering?
    I won't trust a blade that did not went through proper tempering. This is inexusable with 690, which is easy to temper (150 to 180 C, doable in simplest electric oven, and it should produce 58, perhaps 59 HRC blade with much better toughness).
