The British Boys Rifle was loud and fired a big round - but not big enough. It was quickly replaced by the Browning M2 whenever possible. #Battlefield #BattlefieldV #BFV
One of the biggest errors with guns for WW2 games is a fully loaded MP40. The Germans NEVER fully loaded the 32 bullets into the magazine, as that would cause a gun jam almost every time reliably. Instead, they loaded 28 bullets, which they found would not jam the gun. Games never represent this, sadly.
@@gogetitgirl123 the jamming? I can try to check if they ever stated the cause, all I know is that the Wehrmacht training manual from the 1940s stated not to do it as it caused jamming, and also never to hold it by the magazine, but instead by the magazine port on the receiver (the small chunk of metal outcropping for the magazine to go into), since that also caused jamming.
@@gogetitgirl123 1. Spring Tension: Fully loading a magazine compresses the spring to its maximum capacity. This can lead to increased friction and pressure, which may cause feeding issues. By downloading the magazine, the spring tension is reduced, ensuring smoother and more reliable feeding of the cartridges. 2. Follower Movement: The follower, which pushes the cartridges up into the feeding position, can sometimes tilt or get stuck when the magazine is fully loaded. This is more likely to occur if the spring is under maximum compression. Reducing the number of rounds alleviates this problem. 3. Manufacturing Tolerances: Wartime production often required rapid manufacturing, and slight variances in the dimensions of magazines, springs, and followers could exacerbate feeding problems when magazines were fully loaded. Downloading provided a buffer against these inconsistencies. 4. Debris and Dirt: In battlefield conditions, dirt and debris could enter the magazine. A fully loaded magazine would be more susceptible to malfunctions if dirt hindered the spring or follower movement. A partially loaded magazine allowed for more space and less likelihood of jams caused by debris.
