      Thank you for sharing the tip. However, I was about to get a container of frozen minced lemongrass at the market when I noticed that artificial color is added to it so no go for me.

    It has that same thing going on that I love about Banh Mi sandwiches, fatty richness of meat combined with a bunch of crispy bright fresh veggies & cilantro. I'd be happy turning this into a sandwich on a toasted french roll

    Great recipe Flo! You have also given me inspiration to explore and dress up the humble meatball. I'm trying to increase my protein, while using clear flavorful broths. I can make the meatballs ahead, freeze and then drop them into the hot soup broth. Thanks so much for this helpful video! ~ Diane

    I haven’t any pork but i have ground Turkey. Im fixing them tomorrow. I love this recipe. My grandson’s love some meatballs.

    I always saute my onions, as well. Raw crunchy onion is for example in turkey dressing puts me off as it tastes undone !

      Sauteed onions and shallots are good, but if it's to be added as a seasoning or marinade to raw meats etc and will be cooked, then that adds the flavor to the meats as it's being cooked, as it cooks with it and springs it's juices , as in this case the meatballs. Just my thoughts.

      Sometimes the shallots or onions are not cooked enough in the meatballs for my liking.

    I couldn’t up load the pictures
    I made it, very nice
    Instead of chopping the lemongrass I chop it and boiled it with little water, used the same water to make a corn starch mix after it cool down
    The sauce I just used Thai sweet and chilli , lazy 😅

    I use the meat tenderizer and hammer out the lemongrass before finely chopping it. (Less waste and not as fibrous).

    saving me here. we love oriental food of all kinds but costs have gone out of control. i love cooking more than anything so your channel makes it very easy to try a new dish anytime we want and now even far east wonders are still within reach. thankyou. by the way the "butt" of the onion is known as the mustache in my house. galloping gormets tag....so yeah thats from the 1970's.

      Unfortunately I have no idea what would sub for that. If you can find it, you can omit it and it will still be a very tasty meatball.

      Yes you can buy a jar of lemongrass paste on Amazon for around 10.00 😊. Oh !! And also in powder form .

      You can probably decrease the sugar in the meatballs but the dressing does need that amount to balance out the salt and sour.

    Flo & Dude - I LOVE you guys and appreciate your recipes and channel SO much - but, GARLICKY isn't a word - neither is chocolatey, or Christmasey and water can only be added in drops, teaspoons or tablespoons - rather that bits (of water) PLEASE keep your amazing videos coming!

    Flo... I love your recipes! I have a question about the oil. You said that lately you are using Corn... I usually use Canola. Why do you prefer Corn?

      I don’t necessarily prefer corn oil but it’s what my mom used. And I get a free jug when I buy 2 sacks of rice. LOL! Otherwise I buy whatever is on sale between vegetable, canola and corn oil. 😉

    Assuming this serves 4, sodium is pretty high. Just the 4 tablespoons of fish sauce and tablespoon of oyster sauce adds up to about 7000 mg total. This dish looks to be about 2000 mg sodium per serving.

      Oh well. Not everyone closely monitors sodium content. The beauty of cooking at home is you can leave ingredients out if you’re worried about it.

    Yes! I knew there was something about your tastes that I identify with. Raw onions no, grilled absolutely! It turns out so many people are allergic in varing degrees to raw onions. I am partially allergic to raw onions. Green raw onions will almost kill me. Can you imagine, my dad forced me to eat (the white part) raw green onions as a kid. The green part is the worst for me.
    Sorry! Allergies are no joke.
